After all, the climax of the film takes place in an urban jungle, with the uber-sensitive "black monster" concentrating on saving the pure white heroin from destruction by the evil incumbent system, sacrificing himself in the offing. To bring the immediate relevance of art into focus is brilliant. Bravo. Speaking of movies, are there are black monster movies? To tolerate monstrosity an audience has to simultaneously believe in the redeeming power of a contrasting love. It seems with the MLK saga the universal love myth is well established.
