The divide is created by Hollywood for only putting black people as supporting characters(mostly derogatory). Tyler is actually making US movies inclusive. Plus in real life most black people associate only/mostly with black people. So it makes sense to have an all black cast film.Nadia Beenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3890530692790573387.post-91969020155822099702011-05-28T22:39:45.685-07:002011-05-28T22:39:45.685-07:00Jamilah Lemieux said it best when she said "s...Jamilah Lemieux said it best when she said "stop dismissing the [Tyler Perry] critics as haters and realize that black people need new stories and new storytellers."<br /><br />All Perrry's narratives do is reinforce the self-imposed barriers between black (us) and white (them) culture. I own every Tyler ...I hate how we segregate races. I own every Tyler Perry film, and all of his House of Payne episodes. I like his plays, he is a great writer and story teller. However, his themes are always recurring. There's always someone on crack or selling drugs and two people end up falling in love over it in the end. White people aren't exposed to his films because it is not suppose to be. I really enjoy Tyler's work but he seems to really not like white people, or incorporate them in his work except in "the family that preys" where the white people are the bad guys! Don't sterotype white people and black people, we all could have the same interest in things if everyone wasn't so negative or narrow minded. Keep it up Tyler!<br /><br />-white guyAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3890530692790573387.post-50976551447361011852010-03-30T11:57:40.129-07:002010-03-30T11:57:40.129-07:00Why do white (Not all) people group us as a whole?...Why do white (Not all) people group us as a whole? Like we don’t like to vacation nor have any commitments to religion? I think those small minded types to stick to criticism to aliens than us because. White people don’t even want to begin to understand us! It’s not very often you see whites and blacks living under the same roof. It’s not like you live with us so how can you have such an opinion. Say no to small minded thinking!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3890530692790573387.post-14601408644251381372010-03-10T19:34:49.397-08:002010-03-10T19:34:49.397-08:00Just saw a TV ad for his newest movie "Why Di...Just saw a TV ad for his newest movie "Why Did I Get Married Too", and the movie's premise that young, vibrant, well educated, high salaried, exotic-vacation-enjoying black people often experience hilarious but endearing marital difficulties is a complete farce. Young Black people don't saddle themselves with one partner, much less make lifelong legal and religious commitments to one another. There's something refreshing about a dumb comedy which has no racial tension. Perry's movies have no reference to white tastes, sensibilities or issues and so they lack that sense of trying to make a racial statement that you find so often in mainstream films. They are formulaic, but the formula usually includes some tribute to Christian religious values, and some silly slapstick. Mainstream movies are so inhibited about showing blacks portraying silly or stupid characters that they are very self-conscious, which Perry's movies are not. He reminds me of the black silent filmmaker, Oscar Micheaux, who used exclusively black casts and tried to counter the prevailing stereotypes of his day and showed his black characters as both good and evil. Well-meaning white filmmakers often are afraid to portray evil individuals who are black.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3890530692790573387.post-23615390197430229782010-03-10T18:42:20.064-08:002010-03-10T18:42:20.064-08:00SBPDL,
