The idea that someone on this thread even entertained JBJ was doing this to bump the price of a neighboring community so he could move into a place or make more money is ABSURD because if he were worried about his money then he wouldn't be messing around in the nonprofit sector, or on the White House Counsel for Community Solutions, OR SPENDING OVER $20MIL just on this one project. WTF, PHILLY! And while the one neighbors taxes went up- so did the value of his home. He is paying higher taxes because his home is worth more. If he's pissed at that then he should sell and move into a "BLACKER" area and use the profit margin for whatever he sees fit. It would become more difficult for poor to move and fluctuate into the area because of the higher costs of living but the idea is that they're trying to do something good and the GOOD in their scenario OUTWEIGHS the bad, by far. The people put into those row homes aren't living there for long- they're literally going home homeless to home, developing social skills and job training then being self-sufficient so they can move on and another person, single mom or family can move in and the process continues. SERIOUSLY. This is amazing- plus that foundation is constantly in the city making a difference from building playgrounds to providing meals to the homeless.

And just stfu talking about if he would move there! That has absolutely nothing to do with anything. If you don't like him remember you don't know him. If you think his music sucks then don't listen to it but you can't say it isn't good because he got rich enough to do this (and in Detroit and NOLA) from it. And if you don't have anything nice to say then just don't say it. If you don't understand it then try to. -That's the problem. You're taking something good and making it into a problem. BTW, because he is WHITE.... doesn't mean it is a coalition against peoples of color. The people living in a lot of these row homes are black, from what I have seen. So if you guys stop segregating yourselves from the rich, white, cockrock junk music, and bullshit pre-concieved stigmas then MAYBE you could have a clear enough mind to see the good in things and not be poor me, why me I have to pay more in taxes and can't afford it but i don't want to sell my house and make a 200,000$ profit and just move out of the area into another place that isn't trying to create upward mobility.

Ashleynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3890530692790573387.post-76713893651900699542013-08-01T21:01:51.158-07:002013-08-01T21:01:51.158-07:00$30,000 home now assessed at $300,000. Should a better life style bend and cave to a segment of society that shits in their water? I lived in Atlanta when Candler Park re-gentrified. The homes were turned into shit holes after white flight. Years later the architecture had endured although the negroes had let these beautiful homes fall into ruin. Who cares whether a nigger squatting on a gold mine is put out? Who cares if you are displaced? There is a fair market value on things...there is a tax base that someone is willing to support...take these ghetto dwelling, asphalt apes, pay them to go away and voila! you could also be living in a nice neighborhood. Or you can wring your hands incessantly about how unfair the market is and join your negro pets in a different shit hole. have a nice negro free day...VMVicio Malonoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3890530692790573387.post-29379769459134490012013-07-20T16:30:16.258-07:002013-07-20T16:30:16.258-07:00Anonymous:

Justice Department and FBI statistics indicate that between 1964 and 1994 more than 25 million violent inter-racial crimes were committed, overwhelmingly involving black offenders and white victims, and more than 45,000 people were killed in inter-racial murders. By comparisons 58,000 Americans died in Vietnam, and 34,000 were killed in the Korean war.

When non-violent crimes (burglary, larceny, car theft and personal theft) are included, the cumulative totals become prodigious. Keep in mind that the reports you're referring to are already two decades old. The regime and its enablers in police departments nationwide have developed a little program since then to help with this problem. It's known as Compstat and was perfected by Pohleece Kommissar Kelly of NYC - now slated to take over DHS from the retiring snapping-turtle in need of a facelift, Janet Napolitano. It is a marvelous magical program that allows the operator to re-classify murders and accidents, etc. The fellow at Second City Cop has covered it somewhat. Guess the ol' hispanic-perps are white slight of hand (used since the 1970s) wasn't doing a good enough job in making the negro rate of criminality look respectable enough.Bogolyubskinoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3890530692790573387.post-16333893786106560722013-07-20T09:37:40.710-07:002013-07-20T09:37:40.710-07:00While some of you have good points the fact is it ...While some of you have good points the fact is it is immoral to increase property prices of people who have lived there for decades JUST to drive those poorer people out. I'd agree with this article if it was about gentrification for the sake of improving an area BUT instead this sounds like gentrification for the sake of running people out of their own neighborhoods.
That is wrong. There is no way to spin that.
People who are making $25,000 a year are not going to be able to compete with a 300% increase in property prices with people who make $55,000+ a year.
If a bunch of Donald Trumps moved into a middle class neighborhood and caused property taxes and such to raise 300%, people in that community would be mad too.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3890530692790573387.post-92018125034463212832013-07-20T09:02:23.118-07:002013-07-20T09:02:23.118-07:00Why don't you give us YOUR take on the Nashvil...Why don't you give us YOUR take on the Nashville area, since you lived there? Unreal ! This is but one very minor example,I have and know of dozens more that are a lot worse. The city is FILTHY ! No litter pick-up,recycling,street sweeping-none of that! Hundreds of vacant buildings nobody wants anything to do with.Whole blocks of empty,burned-out houses (eg. Ryder street). No decent jobs to speak of,and the wages are unbelievably low.I could easily write a book.Just trust me on this,comrades...do not go.Despite hype and propaganda saying the opposite, there is no serious music scene at all.Crappy cover bands on Beale st.,which is a 2-3 block area of obscenely overpriced bars. And if you are foolish enough to speak to a cop,you may be arrested for 'public drunk' even if you have had 1 drink and haven't even so much as spoken to anyone..Sorry to ramble but that's me !
