#100. Tea Party Tax Protests

Black people love to protest. Whether it is perceived injustices against the assailants of one lone white boy in Jena, Louisiana or for taking Michael Jackson back to the "Dark Side" after his death, Black people enjoy nothing more than a good sit-in.

Protesting and the Black community go hand in hand, with many Black people making a solid living off of the vocation title as "professional agitator" or "community organizer". In fact, our current president spent the majority of his professional career as a "community organizer" and, like many Black people, built his resume and reputation upon his many accomplishments as a stirrer of Black angst.

However, one protest that Black people are firmly against is the Tea Party Tax Protests that swept the nation on April 15th of 2009 - a backlash against the high taxation by the US Government and the seemingly never ending spending and large deficits racked up in the name of Freedom and Democracy - and will again be held on July 4th.

The Tea Party Protests originated from The Boston Tea Party of 1773, when American Colonialists protests a minor tax on tea that the British Crown had legislated and the Americans were upset about "taxation without representation."

For decades now, Americans have been taxed up to 45 percent of their income with hardly a peep of protest, but with the election of Barack Obama - the uber "community organizer" - ordinary Americans finally had had enough.

Bailout after Bailout to companies that were failing enraged middle-America, as hard-earned money was given to companies that had failed and were rewarded for failing with tax-payer money.

The Tea Party Protests lacked the most important thing in America however: diversity. There has been a paucity of Black people at all of the rallies, as a Black person at a Tea Party Protest is rarer than a white person at a Black barbershop.

The reason is simple and Stuff Black People Don't Like will delineate it soon, but one website lays it all out:

"Obama and liberals in Congress are taking us down the road to socialism, seizing control of key banks, insurance companies, the automobile industry, etc. They are currently working on a government funded national health care program which is expected to cost roughly $2 trillion while rationing services."

Criticism of Barack Obama in the Black community is synonymous with virulent racism. And, more importantly, Black people are great beneficiaries of taxation. Why would you protest something that helps you greatly, thereby endangering your milk ticket and the very thing that subsidizes your existence?

A list of programs that have been created with the specific and stated purpose of helping Black people would be long and would stretch into the quadrillion of dollars, a number so incomprehensible it barely deserves utterance and would defy belief if seen.

To turn the faucet of money coming out Washington DC and state governments would be disastrous to the Black community, thus why Black people are hesitant to join protests with the white people who pay the taxes they in turn depend on to live.

One commenter that Black people love is Janeane Garofalo - a comedian of varying repute - who decry the Tea Parties that attracted 500,000+ white people across the nation as racist:

"Garofalo actually called Party-goers "a bunch of teabagging rednecks," adding "this is about hating a black man in the White House. This is racism straight up."

Black people do love to protest, but they will never join a protest that endangers the loss of Federally mandated funds that allow the proliferation of their race, at the expense of all others.
