The lyrics accurately sum up the nightclub experience for Black people in any major or minor city that is home to a club catering to Black people. The point of entering the club is to: show-off money, high priced clothing, accessories and bling to potential mates (more accurately one-night stands); appear cool and hip with an entourage in tow; and, intimidate any rival group for the most attractive female present.
Attempting to emulate the rival gangs in the film Warriors, these groups of Black males interacting in the club come across as displaying the machismo of the gangs in West Side Story as they compete for the finite resource and elusive prize of a Black female worth glorifying in a future rap song.
In the club - while paying inordinate prices for the right to sit in the VIP room – various cliques of Black people engage in a vicious game of intimidation, attempting to dictate the rules of the establishment while drinking excessive amounts of overpriced Courvoisier.
Though rap music is going soft, the pulsating beats create an environment suitable for freak dancing and other forms of gyrating curiously indigenous to Africa. Utilizing the dance floor with alcohol in hand, Black people dance with dexterity and gyrate in an attempt to win the services of one of the few Black females not tipping the scale at 200.
However, many Black clubs turn into a symposium of testosterone as few females worthy of extending any effort of interest in cause the Black males to engage in another sadistic form of exclusively Black entertainment: Black on Black violence.
Like the J-Kwon lyrics state, an odd number of homeboy’s are tripping in clubs with the perplexing idea that the opposition isn’t carrying a weapon.
Though the whole point of going to a club or sexually integrated gathering is to secure the services of a female, Black people always have a plan B prepared if that initial goal is not secured, forcing an emergency contingency to come into play.
Like at block parties, Black people have the strange ability to see societal breakdown in every exclusive engagement they enter into and clubs are a scene of constant hostility. 50 Cent immortalized this in his song In Da Club, where he opined:
(laughing) Don't try to act like you ain't know where we been either nigga In the club all the time nigga, its about to pop off nigga
Recently, a 100 person brawl between Black people and Hispanics broke out in the lovely hamlet of Lawrence, Massachusetts, bringing to the reality of nightclubs in Black Run America (BRA):
What started out as a typical night at Club Rio turned into a melee involving more than 100 people that could have resulted in serious injuries or even death, according to police.
Patrolman Charles Saindon was working a detail at the Appleton Street club, which had about 600 people inside, when he said several people started fighting around 1 a.m. yesterday on the second floor. The fight quickly escalated, and within seconds there were more than 100 people fighting, throwing punches, kicking each other, smashing bottles and throwing chairs, according to a police report.
About 10 officers were called to the scene, and 14 people were arrested. One officer received a compound fracture to his right index finger during the altercation, and several club patrons and security officers were also injured.
One of the club's security officers was attacked by multiple individuals and was bleeding from the head, according to the police report.
Police Chief John Romero said fights often break out at the different night spots around the city, but nothing of this magnitude.
"Every cruiser around the city and officers in the station had to assist with this fight," said Romero, adding that this could have been a serious issue if there had been other emergencies going on in the city at the same time.
ATLANTA -- What started out as a fun Friday night quickly turned into a frightening experience for patrons of an Atlanta nightclub early Saturday morning.DeKalb County police spokesman Marcus Hodge said gunfire erupted at a celeb-filled party held at Club Dreams at 3595 Clairmont Road around 3:30 a.m.The party, which kicked off the third annual So So Def Summerfest weekend, was hosted by Atlanta-based music mogul Jermaine Dupri.Hodge said the shooting occurred after some patrons were allegedly double-charged by security guards to enter the VIP section of the club.
Hodge said some patrons became rowdy after allegedly being double-charged and were escorted outside the nightclub, where the shooting took place.Hodge said an unknown male pulled out a gun and began firing shots. Hodge said a security guard employed by the club was struck in the arm.Hodge said none of the celebrity guests, which included R&B singer Usher, rapper Nelly, actress Regina King, actress Gabrielle Union and actor Larenz Tate, were injured. Many other celebrities were in attendance.
Black people in any city across the nation have the habit of finding a popular club and turning it into a real-life Quentin Tarantino movie sequence, with shockingly little care for what happens to the club in the aftermath of gun battle:
Atlanta police are investigating a deadly early morning shooting. Investigators said Randy Griffin was shot in the parking lot of Club 112 at 1055 Peachtree Street. It happened right after the nightclub closed around 3 a.m. Sunday. Patrons at Club 112 were celebrating the club's last night of business when the shooting happened.
The 26-year-old victim apparently tried to run away from the shooter and collapsed on the sidewalk behind the nightclub. Griffin died from several gunshot wounds to the chest.
Sadly, Club 112 closed soon after this ordeal, a melancholy end to a nightclub that catered to Black people only to find violence and naked aggression a strange and constant companion.
Nightclubs have long catered to a seedy element, but Black people hoped that they could change the image of a smoke-filled bar filled with ladies of the night and mobsters engaging in frivolity and drunkenness.
Oddly, the nightclub is now associated with Black on Black violence, police lights and gun shots, punctuated by J-Kwon's homage to "Everybody in the club get tipsy".
No, Stuff Black People Don't Like includes the Nightclub experience for hardly a week goes by that a Black nightclub isn't in the news for the high prevalence of alcoholic shots given out, but is in the news for the tragically high amount of shots that are fired out of the barrel of gun by one Black patron at another.
Consult club-watch.com to learn more about this horrible epidemic of violence at Black nightclubs across the nation.
It was said by a man long since gone that, "Myths are public dreams, dreams are private myths."
During Black History Month we discussed how cinema presents opportunities for Black people to take on roles that reality seems to continually deny them, granting them the chance to play characters who have vocations that are exceedingly rare in the real world.
It is important to note that Joseph Campbell was speaking about myths that unite a cohesive people to the past, safeguard their collective present and grant images of hope and courage to forge on to create a future where those myths may endure.
In Black Run America (BRA), the great myth that binds the nation together is maintained through sports, plus the continued inclusion of Black History Heroes in cinema and television to help satiate the appetite of those in need of entertainment.
Since 2000, the predominate form of entertainment at movie theaters and thus, wherever DVDs are sold, has been through the genre of comic book movies. Raking in billions upon billions in worldwide box office revenue, films such as The Dark Knight, X-Men, Superman, Spider-Man and a host of others have a profound impact upon pop culture.
The problem is of course the nearly complete absence of any Black people in comics or in comic book movies. Hundreds of millions of people see these films, read the comics and buy the merchandise but rarely is it in celebration of any Black comic book hero, but the continued perpetuation of the notion that" only white people can save the world" ideas.
Comic books are the 21st century answer to the myths of old that worked to make mere mortals strive to have the characteristics of the Gods, ennobling us to summon the courage of greater beings in pursuit of truth and the overcoming of personal obstacles:
Comic books have always been popular with the American people, but in recent decades their popularity has increased dramatically. The Christopher Reeve's Superman movies may have that just shows America's fascination with that character. Film seems to be America's choice of form for pop culture, and comic book adaptations seem to be limitless lately.
In the more popular titles there is also more going on that is subtle that draws us to them. The characters are iconic in who they represent too. Superman represents the immigrant. He fully embraces America and will do anything to help his country, but at the same time he has to remember where he came from and that he is not truly an American (or even a human). The Hulk is a representation that anger can take over even the most rational of people and make them into a monster. Batman is an avenger, and uses fear against those who use fear to intimidate regular people. Captain America is an example of the truly patriotic and righteous as he fights the Nazis and Red Skull. The X-Men represent the outsiders, the people who suffer prejudice in the real world. It is these subtleties that also draw us in to these characters and stories.
Over time, these characters have dealt with a changing morality, and they have changed with it. That is one reason that we are drawn to them and why they are still compelling. The Greek and Roman myths changed too. The mythologies reflected morality and human nature, but there were many different versions of the stories just like in comics. Comic books will continue to reflect the nature of our society, and that is why they will continue to be popular. There is a lot more going on in comics than just kid's stories, and that is why they will be around for a long time to come.
The problem with the comic book movie is one that plagues that Black people, for so few Black faces are seen in these films that can give Black people myths and heroes to cheer for (Barack Obama comics notwithstanding) and engineer any type of character that can import positive ideas to the Black community. The universality of heroism is a noble idea, but to Black people only characters that are distinctively Black can provide idols for young Black people to cheer for, buy their merchandise and strive to replicate (see the power of the Obama Effect).
Thus, in the new Iron Man movie the Ultimate Avengers story, the character of Nick Fury - long an aging white guy - has been replaced with inimitable Samuel L. Jackson. A traditional white character has become a Black character, merely for the sake of integrating the white world of comic books.
In the poorly-received Daredevil film, the master of criminality Kingpin - once again a white character in every incarnation of the comic before - was replaced with a Black actor, Michael Clarke Duncan.
Black people need heroes (and villains) to identify with and the inclusion of Black characters - replacing boring white people - helps to open the door of mythology to more people, bringing about desperately needed inclusion.
Regrettably, Black people forget the incredible 1990s film Meteor Man that stars a nearly all-Black cast and a Black superhero trying to make Washington DC safe for Black people.
The upcoming Thor 2011 film (all part of the plan to eventually make an Avengers film) is one movie that hardly has the ability to cast Black people or any person of color, considering the subject material is the Nordic God of Thunder and his companions of Asgard:
Ostensibly, a film about Nordic Gods is one that will be devoid of Black people, right? You see, Black people have a problem with white actors playing Black roles. This reasonable response to white people being cast as historical Black characters devalues the films authenticity:
Ya’ll know that every time a historical Black person is deemed to be of merit, his or her onscreen depiction will be done by white people as white people.
Don’t get me wrong: I’m not one of those people so pathologically Black that I have the urge to smash every pane glass window that depicts Jesus as a white man, but anybody with even a cursory knowledge of the bible realizes that he couldn’t have looked like Jim Caviezel.
Anybody that knows Egypt is in Africa wondered what in the world was going on when they first saw the Ten Commandments starring Charleton Heston as Moses.
I mean, this wasn’t an Egypt that had its bloodline significantly lightened by being conquered by Alexander, Caesar, Napoleon and Mussolini seemingly in succession. This was early BC Egypt; the one that still looked like Harlem in the 1980s.
And a lot of times, you don’t even have to be a dead Black person to get a white actor to play you.
Mariane Pearl, wife of slain journalist Daniel Pearl, is an African-Dutch-Jewish-Chinese-Cuban.
Who played her onscreen? Angelina Jolie who is none of the above.
And then (and I know this is a sidebar argument but please allow it) whenever a Black life is deigned significant enough to not only appear onscreen but also with a Black actor playing the part, there always seems to be a white story which serves as an undercurrent.
Take Invictus or Cry Freedom or the Last King of Scotland, movies about, ostensibly at least, Nelson Mandela, Steven Biko and IdiAmin.
Those movies also gave equal time to telling the stories of a white soccer player, a white journalist and a young white physician.
Black people should have the right to play Black characters in films. Of course this makes sense. However, Black people should also have the right to play white characters as well, no matter how silly the inclusion of such a character in a historical inaccurate might be. In the 2011 Thor film, the casting of Black actor to play a Nordic God makes perfect sense, as we live under the rules of Black Run America (BRA):
Even for an actor who has played a vampire-hunter with a guilty conscience, a Baltimore crime lord with a taste for Adam Smith, and an asset manager with a stalker, the role of the Norse deity Heimdall – guardian of the burning rainbow bridge between the world of men and the world of gods – was always going to be a bit of a challenge.
But playing a god in Kenneth Branagh's forthcoming film Thor has turned out to be the least of Idris Elba's worries, after fans of the comic books turned on the star of The Wire for reasons that have nothing to do with his acting ability and everything to do with the colour of his skin.
When news emerged late last year that the 37-year-old black Londoner had been chosen to play Heimdall, "the whitest of the gods", a being who can hear the sap flowing in trees and look across time and space, many devotees of the Marvel comics on which the film is based flocked to online forums to weep, gnash their teeth and unleash a tide of indignation...
Elba, who was born in Hackney, north-east London, to a Ghanaian mother and Sierra Leonean father, has addressed such concerns in a string of recent interviews.
"There has been a big debate about it: can a black man play a Nordic character?" he told TV Times. "Hang about, Thor's mythical, right? Thor has a hammer that flies to him when he clicks his fingers. That's OK, but the colour of my skin is wrong?
"I was cast in Thor and I'm cast as a Nordic god," he said. "If you know anything about the Nords, they don't look like me but there you go. I think that's a sign of the times for the future. I think we will see multi-level casting. I think we will see that, and I think that's good."
Cinema, which is far less reliant on existing, classic material, has lagged behind theatre when it comes to colour-blind casting.
Rumours of a black James Bond remain just that, although his CIA friend Felix Leiter has been played by two African-American actors, Bernie Casey in 1983's Never Say Never Again, and Jeffrey Wright in the Daniel Craig films Casino Royale (2006) and Quantum of Solace (2008).
In 1999, another originally white US lawman, Captain James West, was played by Will Smith in Wild Wild West, which also starred Kenneth Branagh.
Understand, white actors cannot play Black roles but Black actors can play any role they want. Even a character of mythology that belongs to the pantheon of Nordic heroes is fair-game to be portrayed by a Black person, though evidence for Black people arriving in Europe starts in the 16th century.
Nordic myths are quite old and bespeak of a time when a homogeneous people roamed the land, with Gods that reflected their fair skin to worship. However, Black people see nothing historical wrong with the inclusion of a Black person into the world of Asgard, for it makes absolutely perfect sense.
Even Captain America was rumored to be open to a diverse potential actor base, with Will Smith leading the way at one point. Never mind that during World War II the United States Armed Forces were segregated, thus negating the opportunity for a Captain America to be Black as this is of trivial importance:
While everyone seems to be chasing down flimsy leads about who's playing Captain America, I'm left wondering: What the heck is Marvel thinking here?
It's been a month since "Captain America" director Joe Johnston promised casting news within "a couple of weeks," and besides a disappointing (and ever-growing) list of actors I'd never dream of installing as the title character, we're no closer to anything firm.
None of this answers the question: How is there not one non-white actor on this list? To have 10 actors reportedly in the running, with not a single one of them African American, Latino or otherwise, isn't exactly representative of the American population these days. Why pass on a great opportunity for Marvel to think outside the box. After all, isn't America a melting pot?
If a Nordic God can be Black, by gosh a World War II soldier can be Black and thus, earn the title of Captain America. Black people (who were 9 percent of the population during World World II in America, the rest of 90 percent of the people being white) can see themselves playing any role, regardless of the time, place, country or historical figure.
But Black people see no great travesty in playing historically inaccurate characters, especially "the whitest God of them all" as Stuff Black People Don't Like includes the uproar over Thor.
Black people need myths to guide them by and though African mythology is orally rich , the visual shock of seeing a Black in Valhalla and as a Nordic God offers a chance to continue the displacement of the old mythology that once bound a people together, but now works to bring about their complete dissolution.
By rewriting history and mythology new and more palatable myths emerge.
The Obama Effect. What is it? What type of power does it have over the masses in not just America, but the entire world?
Mein Obama was seen as the Tiger Woods of politics, an individual capable of bringing closure to the open sore of race hostilities in the United States, capable of transcending negative stereotypes about Black people while ushering in an era of unprecedented peace and tranquility wrapped in “post-racial world” rhetoric.
As approval ratings for Barack Obama continue to decline at home, world opinion of the United States is rising steadily under his stewardship. A new international survey by the British Broadcasting Company reveals that views of the U.S. around the world have “improved sharply” during the first year of the Obama presidency, with positive opinion outweighing negative for the first time since 2005…
In fact, move over Leonardo DiCaprio from Titanic, but it appears that Mein Obama is the true “King of the World”:
President Barack Obama is still the world's most respected leader, according to a new six-country poll.
Released today by France 24 and Radio France Internationale, the Harris Interactive Poll asked 6,135 adults between the ages of 16 and 64 who live in the United States, Britain, France, Italy, Germany or Spain to name their favorite world leaders.
Seventy-seven percent of those surveyed chose Obama, which is one percentage point higher than when Harris Interactive asked the same question in November.
Like Xerxes before him and Ozymandias of Watchmen fame, Obama is the true God-King of the earth, awarded Nobel Prizes and other accolades for his ability to perform the genuinely difficult tasks that his Vice President stated were uniquely genetically disposed to him (unlike other Black people) during the Democratic Primary season of 2007-2008.
Perhaps the Obama Effect can be best described as uplifting Black hearts (and Disingenuous White Liberals) while simultaneously providing white people with a glimpse of what 2042 (when they are projected to be a minority in the United States) will be like. Thus, the domestic revulsion to Mein Obama that is taking place among white people (who continue to provide the impetus behind the freefall of Obama’s approval rating) is a corollary to the Obama Effect, which enables Black people to reach new heights of optimism tied exclusively to Mein Obama ascension:
But the black high school student is surprisingly optimistic about the future and her chances for a better life — an attitude common among her African-American peers, according to a new nationwide survey of high school students.
"I know kids who've been through less and maybe they can't handle it," said Fleming, who will head to Florida A&M University in the fall in hopes of eventually becoming a veterinarian. "But my mom always tells me, 'Work hard, stay positive and you'll make it.'"
A poll released Thursday by Hamilton College in Clinton, N.Y., found that 70 percent of black students ages 15 to 18 thought their standard of living would be better than their parents, compared with just 36 percent of white students.
Overall, 39 percent of respondents thought they would have a higher living standard.
Those numbers and the level of optimism among black students appeared to be closely tied to their enthusiasm for President Barack Obama, making for what some called the "Obama effect."
Asked about the president's performance, more than two-thirds of black students rated his performance as "good" or "very good," compared with 23 percent of white students. Overall, about a quarter of the students who were surveyed rated the president highly.
DeQuan Foster, a 15-year-old high school sophomore in Newark, N.J., agreed that having someone who looks like him leading the country has strongly influenced his belief in the future and what he can personally achieve.
"You're always told anything is possible — but when you see it, you believe it. It makes me want to try twice as hard," said Foster, who's active in the theater and his local Boys & Girls Club and hopes to start his own entertainment company after college.
It's an attitude that mirrored the findings of a recent Harvard Institute of Politics survey of 18- to 29-year-olds, and that could have ramifications on November's midterm elections, said John Della Volpe, the institute's polling director.
"Young African Americans have this serious afterglow that is not as strong with whites and Hispanics," Della Volpe said. "And that's despite (African American youth) having more serious economic concerns."
The Hamilton College survey involved 818 high school sophomores, juniors and seniors from across the country who were surveyed last month. The poll, funded by the school's Levitt Center for Public Affairs, has a margin of error of plus-or-minus 3.5 percentage points.
Stephen Wu, the Hamilton economist who oversaw the poll, said he was surprised by the stark difference in optimism among races and that black students' attitudes appeared to be so tied to their view of the president.
But many students — even in Chicago, the Obama family's home outside Washington — said they witness the divide all the time.
"It always comes back to Obama," said Deja Bailey, a 15-year-old African American student who attends the city's prestigious Walter Payton High School. Even her own friends can't agree. She said one of them carries a scrapbook about the president and frequently argues with others who say he's doing a "horrible" job.
The latter attitude also frustrates Foster, the black teen in New Jersey, who wishes his peers had more patience — and more hope.
"Everyone isn't going to support every decision the man makes. That's life," he said. "It's the same with parents. You may not agree with everything they do, but they have your best interest at heart."
Black people closely guard the sanctity of Mein Obama’s halo that they rightfully hope to safeguard for four more years of hope, change and continued optimism in 2012. Providing 96 percent of their votes across the nation to Mein Obama in the 2008 President Elections, Black people are the only racial group that stands united behind their president with an approval rating hovering around 90-95 percent.
The Obama Effect causes Black hearts to beat faster with pride, consequently causing those hearts who can see to beat faster as well, but for opposite reasons. The people sense the fate of South Africa and Zimbabwe is what awaits a white minority in 2042 and the precursor to this moment – Mein Obama – offers a telling glimpse into how Democracy will play out for the beleaguered and hated majority now once they are granted permanent minority status.
Voting by those dispossessed is already frowned upon. Imagine what 2042 will bring? Thus, the glee and optimism of pay back for centuries of torment and degradations suffered at the hands at the majority is what motivates the Obama Effect. Good old fashioned revenge.
The humiliations and deprivations that the white majority enacted upon Black people in the past are constantly discussed in middle and high school and exacerbated on college campuses, feeding into the polarization of the purported post-racial world.
While no white people alive today have owned slaves, Black people are constantly bombarded with images and anecdotes from history of the evil nature of their classmate’s ancestors who subjugated Black people and denied them civil and human rights.
This works to enrage Black pupils and demoralize white pupils, feeding into the animosity of the former to the later thanks to the careful work of Crusading White Pedagogues.
If you were told your ancestors were the scum of the earth, would that constitute positive reinforcement or it would serve to severe any emotional attachment to them and thus cloud rosy projections for the future?
Mein Obama is seen as the savior of the world, a real-life General Zod who will usher in a utopia of equality, justice, humanity and the true nature of Democracy.
White kids are resigned to understand their collective fate, while Black pupils correctly project optimistic views of a future that belongs to them.
Most people still refuse to acknowledge the extent of Black Run America (BRA), when indeed we are increasingly becoming a Black Run Earth (BRE). And as the polls showcase, Obama is the Black Knight in shining armor that will reign supreme.
The Obama Effect is thus defined as creating cohesion and positivity among the Black community, who rally to the only flag that truly matters in life – race – while white people slowly resign themselves to protesting abstractions such as health care and other Tea Party ideas of government, losing all faith in the future and hiding behind men of Lloyd Marcus’ persuasion in the process.
We are reminded of the words from Ozymandias in Watchmen, as after he has revealed the plans to bring about world peace and unity through a clandestine calamity he orchestrated, he calmly states:
Do it? Dan, I'm not a Republic Serial villain. Do you seriously think I'd explain my master-stroke if there remained the slightest chance of you affecting its outcome? I did it thirty-five minutes ago.
The United States is fully-vested in Black Run America. No amount of tea party events or those who can see can stop this contingency from coming to fruition. It is upon us, looming ominously in all its terrifying grandeur and optimism.
You can kneel before Obama – as the world seems have started to do – or face the fate of Richard Barrett.
Once the college football season ends after the final bowl game, athlete-students begin preparing for potential employment in the NFL by participating in post season games (such as the Senior Bowl in Mobile) and training for invitation-only scouting combines, where professional scouts dissect every attribute (both physically and mentally) of the potential employee.
After the Super Bowl, all football fans turn their attention to the NFL Draft where they anxiously anticipate the selection of new athletes to love and admire, simultaneously spending countless hours of wasted productivity memorizing all of the physical attributes of the players (without getting paid as professional scouts mind you).
The NFL Draft is a topic that dominates sports pages and television for the better part of two months, as a frenzied amount of talk and hyperbole is expended over virtual and mock-drafts regarding players perceived value to potential employers.
The NFL Combine (now available for all-day viewing on the NFL Network) is an invitation-only event where the top college prospects compete before a vast audience of scouts, team personnel and fans to assess their physical gifts (40 time, number of times they can bench press 225, shuttle run and Wonderlic) .
ESPN employs an army of scouts who rank prospective athletes on a year-long revolving basis - led by Mel Kiper Jr. - who has a profound influence over how the draft will play out. Todd McShay, a diminutive white guy who appears to have played only paper football in his time on earth, acts as Kiper's lurking No. 2 (much as No.2 was to Dr. Evil in the Austin Powers trilogy) in analyzing the draft months before it actually plays itself out.
Now, the NFL is a league that employs Black people at 69 percent of the available active-roster positions. Thus, the NFL Draft is obviously a celebration of the Black athletes superiority and more so - thanks to the year-long obsession with the NFL Draft provided by ESPN and other sports outlets - a shining example of BRA at work.
The continuous - positive - images of potential NFL employees is a veritable panorama of Black faces, succeeding at running the football, catching the football, blocking for those aforementioned individuals and/or tackling those people. Occasionally you might even see a Black person excel at throwing the football (although two Black quarterbacks were drafted in the 2010, neither are projected to play that position in the NFL).
Whereas society is hard-pressed to find positive images of Black people (if you watch the local nightly news, such images are exceedingly rare), sports and Hollywood (though completely fabricated) create an entertainment-enhanced view of Black people and their actual, lingering contributions.
It could be argued that without sports and Hollywood, Black people would have no positive images to substantiate the tolerance that America bestows Black people for the pernicious rates of crime, rape, murder and ubiquitous mayhem they cause.
Shortly before the Super Bowl, all-pro defensive player Ray Lewis stood trial for double murder. While the prosecution dismissed the other charges, Lewis pleaded guilty to obstruction of justice, admitting that he lied to the police during their double homicide investigation.
In "Pros and Cons: The Criminals Who Play in the NFL," authors Jeff Benedict and Don Yaeger estimate that of the 1996/97 NFL players, 21 percent competed with criminal records, up to and including allegations of rape and assault. (Among non-football-playing young men, 15 percent have criminal records.) This means that 79 percent of players possess clean records. Still, the sports role model pool seems a tad shallow.
Here's the problem. The type of person and attitude required to succeed in sports -- especially violent sports like football -- make athletes, almost by definition, a tough sell as role models. Sports psychologist Julian Morrow says, "What makes a player successful on the field -- anger, risk-taking, limited impulse control -- may not make him someone you want living next door."
And in last year's Super Bowl, St. Louis Rams linebacker Leonard Little played. Earlier that season, Little pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter for driving under the influence and causing an accident that resulted in the death of a St. Louis mother. His sentence? Ninety days in jail, but the judge allowed Little to serve some time on work release.
Propensity to criminality as a pre-condition for employment in the NFL seems to be on the list of qualifications necessary for draft status, and the 2010 NFL Draft offered us a glimpse into a future seeded with a number of individuals absolutely locked for inclusion in future entries on NFLcrimes.com.
“Any employer has rules,” NFL spokesman Aiello said. “When an employee breaks them, they can take disciplinary action.”
Earlier this month, Goodell sent a memo to teams that said “NFL and club personnel must do more than simply avoid criminal behavior.”
“The impact of those behaviors, even if noncriminal, are immediately felt, readily apparent and have an obvious impact on our brand and what we’re trying to stand for as a league,” said Birch, the NFL VP.
Knowing this and knowing that college football is played by a 50/50 white and Black mixture and the NFL is roughly 69 percent, you can imagine that the similarities between the NFL Draft and old fashioned slave markets that might come up. With this in mind, a controversial paper entitled The Erotic Gaze in the NFL Draft had this to say:
In addition to such routines, extensive media-facilitated public display of the athletic body, presented as entertainment, has become a staple of sports media coverage. The media that cover the league frequently find excuses to profile the bodies of players, exposing them for the pleasures of their mostly male readership. These occasions for stripping NFL athletes for public view have increased in recent years.
This move towards a more public celebration and inspection of the male form as entertainment corresponds with a so-called ‘‘disappearance’’ of whites from elite leagues like the NFL. While the league was not long ago dominated by white men, recent shifts mean that roughly two-thirds of NFL players are now black. African Americans are now even well represented at quarterback, a position which until recently was the near exclusive preserve of whites. The visibility of blacks in the draft is even more prominent. More than three-fourths of first-round picks from2000 2006 were African American.
Usually, these strange demographics pass without comment. Popular theories of why blacks are so over-represented continue to emphasize racialized theories of biological difference, such as those offered in Jon Entine’s recent book Taboo: Why Black Athletes Dominate Sports and Why We’re Afraid to Talk About It . Public discussion of such discrepancies is, however, as Entine’s title suggests (while overstating the case), often considered rude. Nevertheless, recent years have seen mainstream writers broach the topic to express a palpable uneasiness about the supposed ‘‘disappearance of the white athlete.’’
A 1997 Sports Illustrated cover story that asked ‘‘Whatever Happened to the White Athlete?’’ announced with a palpable sense of alarm that ‘‘Whites have in some respects become sports’ second-class citizens’’ in the face of the presumed domination of blacks. This new development had even led to the development of an athletic inferiority complex for whites: ‘‘White athletes are frequently the ones now tagged by the stereotypes of skin color. The twist: whites themselves are doing much of the tagging.’’ As evidence of the widespread belief in white athletic inferiority, Sports Illustrated offered the results of an unscientific survey that suggested ‘‘cracks’’ in ‘‘the self confidence among young White males’’: 34 percent of whites surveyed agreed with the statement ‘‘African American players have become so dominant in sports like football and basketball that many White athletes feel they cannot compete at the same level.’’
Sports trigger a delusion that Black people are able to excel in that particular field alone, as sports remain the last segment of American society untainted by affirmative action programs and governed strictly by a distinct meritocracy.
Thus, Black people are better athletes than the white majority, and the over-representation of Black people in football (remember, Black people are only 13 percent of the population: imagine if more Black kids were in college than in jail and thus, eligible for the NFL Draft and you realize it is conceivable that the NFL should be 80 percent Black ) is proof that merit shines above racism, although we have to admit the infatuation with the NFL Draft and the physical attributes of the players is quite freaky (talking to you Mel Kiper).
However, the 2010 NFL Draft offered something shocking in its midst, a running back who is white. Toby Gerhart complained of prejudice prior to his eventual selection by the Minnesota Vikings in the 2nd Round, but he landed with a team that will utilize his skills as a running back instead of the dreaded fullback position that so many white runners are saddled with in the NFL.
We at SBPDL have discussed Gerhart before and wish him success in the NFL. Tim Tebow, a surprise 1st Round selection by the Denver Broncos offers intrigue through his charisma, piety and drive. He will be an outstanding quarterback in the NFL, though some sports fans find him to be lily-white and a Nazi:
Just when you thought you knew everything about Tim Tebow, a Boston sports radio station informed us that he is probably a Nazi.
The host was joking, but then so was Don Imus when he insulted Rutgers women's basketball team. CBS fired him. Will it do the same when the race-based insults are directed at Tebow?
Why do I get the feeling Tebow will be Denver's starting quarterback before Fred Toettcher is out of a job?
"Toucher," as he is known to his listeners on 98.5 The Sports Hub, had this observation on Tebow's draft-night gathering.
"It looked like some kind of Nazi rally ... so lily-white is what I'm trying to say. Yeah, Stepford Wives."
Come to think of it, I didn't see much diversity at the Tebow house. Maybe all that missionary stuff is just a cover, and his family has really spent years setting up a skinhead movement in the Philippines.
You see, the NFL is a Black league and white people are being conspicuously purged from the league. The audacity that Tim Tebow wouldn't have a Black person present at his house when he was picked offers the terrifying proof that he is a NAZI! White people who dare associate only with white people are ready to don the white sheets and march in file to military tunes, you see.
Gerhart, for having the audacity to point that the NFL scouts asked him about being a white running back in a league with no white running backs was demonized as well.
Interesting story from USA Today about Myron Rolle, the former Florida State safety turned Oxford University Rhodes scholar. We’ve read a lot of Rolle stories recently, leading into the NFL Draft. But this one stands out because it brings to light the ridiculous notion some NFL types have that Rolle is somehow uncommitted to football because he chose to put his athletic career on hold to accept perhaps the most prestigious academic scholarship in the world.
Unbelievable.
In a league that not only accepts but in some cases makes stars out of those like Pacman Jones and Ben Roethlisberger, it boggles the mind that some in leadership positions in the NFL have the gall to question Rolle’s character. Yet that’s what this story shows.
From the USA Today piece: “To some in NFL circles, the former Florida State star’s decision to put football on hold for a year while studying at one of the world’s foremost academic institutions — not to mention his plans to become a neurosurgeon — indicates a lack of commitment to the game, and Rolle is aware of this.”
And this: “During the [NFL scouting] combine, former Baltimore Ravens coach Brian Billick said Rolle’s situation comes down to “a character issue.” It not about personal conduct, but whether Rolle is totally committed to playing pro football. Billick also said Rolle’s intellect can be a hindrance on the field: “If you want to create hesitation on a guy, make him think. This guy can’t help but think.”
ESPN broadcast of the NFL draft has drawn the most viewers ever.
With the first two rounds held in prime time for the first time, ESPN’s three-day telecast had 3.7 million viewers, up 27 percent from 2009. It also attracted 2.85 million households, second most in draft history and up 24 percent from last year, according to Nielsen Media Research.
The most households to watch a draft on ESPN came in 2006, when 2,000 more homes than this year tuned in.
Even ratings for the third day, with Rounds 4-7, increased 10 percent to a 1.8. The final day was on Saturday this year, Sunday in 2009.
The majority of the 1st Round picks viewed by a massive audience were Black people (three white players, Sam Bradford, Tim Tebow and some white guy ESPN told us "looked like a Green Bay Packer), which further justifies the fact that sports operate under as a meritocracy.
J.B. Cash has been arguing for years on his Caste Football website that pro and college football teams discriminate against white players. Most of the racial patterns in football are clearly due to obvious physical and cognitive differences between the races, but are they all?
Cash has assembled a fair amount of anecdotal evidence for his discrimination hypothesis, but I'd like to see a thorough statistical study because in competitive markets like the NFL, irrational discrimination is punished by losing. Of course, the NFL is a cartel that shares the wealth and spreads the good seasons around using the draft and manipulating the schedule to prevent dynasties and to build up bad teams, so the pressure of the marketplace on NFL teams not to discriminate isn't as strong as in say, the British Premiere soccer league where teams with bad records get "relegated" down to the minor leagues...
One thing that strikes all observers of India is the incredible stability of the caste system. I wonder whether football coaches use this caste-like division of labor among the races to cut down on racial conflict within the team. In big time football, blacks mostly compete with blacks for starting jobs and whites with whites. This reduces the likelihood of disappointed players stirring up racial divisiveness within the team and in the media, where lots of white sportswriters are quick to denounce anything they perceive as discrimination against blacks (while remaining wholly silent on the questions Cash brings up).
One of the more sophisticated aspects of Cash's critique of the football establishment is embodied in his use of the term "caste." He contends that, as among the Hindus, different jobs are reserved for people of different ancestries. Some positions are open to whites -- offensive lineman, kicker, punter, tight end, quarterback (although to a diminishing extent) -- while some positions are somewhat open to both races -- linebacker, safety, defensive tackle, blocking back -- while others are just about off-limits -- tailback, cornerback, wide receiver.
So, teams can vary racially on two dimensions -- both percentage of whites overall and percentage of whites at typically black positions. For example, the class act of the NFL, the Patriots, have had an above-average percentage of whites on their team during their dynasty, but their white players have been mostly found at stereotypically white positions, with the partial exception of linebacker, where they've had an above average percentage of white linebackers. Overall, though, the Patriots have been just whiter at mostly white positions than other teams, rather than say, starting white tailbacks and cornerbacks.
QB-13 out of 15 white but the two blacks drafted will almost definitely not play that position in the NFL.
RB- 1 out of 14 white.
WR- 7 out of 27 white. Surprising to see Mcgaha, White, and Jurovich get snubbed.
TE-8 out of 20 white if we count Aaron Hernandez. Disappointing to see Colin Peek left on the board.
Offensive linemen- 13 out of 35. This is just despicable. That's just under 40%.
Defensive linemen-3 out of 59. They can't be serious!!!!!!!!
Linebackers- 9 out of 36. That's exactly 25 %.
Cornerback- 0 out of 35. The same as every year.
Safeties- 1 out of 16.
It is safe to say the Black dominance of the league will continue (thanks to the Rooney Rule - which mandates the interviewing of a Black coach for every head coaching position available in the NFL - the league will soon have 32 Black bosses. The Steelers and 49ers are coached by Black people and neither team drafted a white player). For those who don't believe Castefootball, look at the attributes of Kent State's Jameson Konz, a white utility offensive player who runs a 4.4 40, has a vertical jump of 46 inches and weighs 230. That raw physicality should have correlated to a 3rd or 4th round pic, but he slipped to the 7th round. Was it due to the handicap in the NFL's eyes - his whiteness?
SBPDL knows sports are what keeps aloft Black Run Ameria. It is what enabled Mein Obama to get to the White House:
Obviously, there are so many factors that have been applied, incrementally, over a long time to bring us to a place where an African-American can be elected president. But I cannot help believing that the ubiquity and esteem of the black man in sport has played a significant part in this transformation of the body politic's thinking.
However, we at SBPDL are forced to ask a serious question: is the NFL an entertainment league - like Vince McMahon's WWE/WWF? Is there an incentive to keep the league increasingly Black, to uphold that belief in Black superiority and keep alive BRA?
The NFL Draft had three unique players we at SBPDL followed intensely: Gerhart, Tebow and Rolle.
Rolle is a Black athlete who is intelligent, but he might be to intelligent for his fellow Black athletes in the NFL according to NFL personnel.
Gerhart is a white running back. He will be one of 64 (32 teams usually deploy a two-back attack) that carries the ball more than 40 times in the NFL in 2010.
Tebow is called a Nazi by those who follow sports for daring to spend his draft night with only white people. His resume includes stints in prison, but only to testify to Black people on death row and help them find salvation. Hardly the work of a Nazi.
FSTA research shows that only 1.6% of fantasy players are black, 2.3% are Latino and 1.1% are Asian. And the more I learn about the typical fantasy player, the more I think most minorities simply have better things to do. "The people who play fantasy are more into sports, more hard-core than the average fan," Berry says. "The reason the NFL embraced fantasy in such a big way is that it found that fantasy players watch three hours more football a week than the average football fan."
In searching for an Actual Black Person who plays fantasy sports, I wind up talking to noted comedian Guy Torry, who's got a famous bit called "Learning From White Folks." Turns out I stumbled onto the biggest black fantasy football fan of all time. "Who the f are you calling a nerd?" he screams at me. "Nobody loves fantasy more than me." The laugh as an exclamation point never arrives. Damn, this brother's serious. "Man, you don't know the half," he says.
Of all the opinions I collected on the racial disparity, though, one of the most interesting came from Kim Beason, an associate professor at Ole Miss who is also the CEO of Fantasy Sport Research Specialists. Basically, Beason's six years of research shows that people who have well-paying jobs with fast Internet connections are more likely to play fantasy sports. "When you break it down, it appears the disparity has to do with a critical mass of individuals who are together discussing fantasy sports," he tells me. "Up to now, that has mostly occurred in the white workplace. And a lot of time, it's on the Internet." But as the web grows, this potential audience is becoming more diverse, which makes Matt Berry a happy man.
You don't see the NFL fretting over the lack of white players in the league as Major League Baseball does (with the leagues dwindling number of Black players) or writers asking if the Oakland Raiders or Washington Redskins are too Black (as one National Basketball Association writer stated the Indiana Pacers were too white).
Black people are expected to dominate sports and whenever a white player threatens their turf, it must be exposed as a virulent form of racism to keep white players employed.
Thus, the lack of Black players in baseball is evil and must be fixed. Too many white players on a team in the NBA equates to racism and white players hoping to play in the NFL are uncerimoniously not drafted.
Those represent SBPDL's thoughts on the NFL Draft of 2010.
Black people have been in America since 1619, brought to this nation involuntarily and against their collective will:
The first recorded Africans in British North America (including most of the future United States) arrived in 1619 as indentured servants who settled in Jamestown, Virginia. As English settlers died from harsh conditions more and more Africans were brought to work as laborers. Africans for many years were similar in legal position to poor English indenturees, who traded several years labor in exchange for passage to America.
Just how were these Black people from Africa introduced to the future landmass that became the United States? Easy - Africans sold Africans to the white man:
While we are all familiar with the role played by the United States and the European colonial powers like Britain, France, Holland, Portugal and Spain, there is very little discussion of the role Africans themselves played. And that role, it turns out, was a considerable one, especially for the slave-trading kingdoms of western and central Africa. These included the Akan of the kingdom of Asante in what is now Ghana, the Fon of Dahomey (now Benin), the Mbundu of Ndongo in modern Angola and the Kongo of today’s Congo, among several others.
For centuries, Europeans in Africa kept close to their military and trading posts on the coast. Exploration of the interior, home to the bulk of Africans sold into bondage at the height of the slave trade, came only during the colonial conquests, which is why Henry Morton Stanley’s pursuit of Dr. David Livingstone in 1871 made for such compelling press: he was going where no (white) man had gone before.
How did slaves make it to these coastal forts? The historians John Thornton and Linda Heywood of Boston University estimate that 90 percent of those shipped to the New World were enslaved by Africans and then sold to European traders. The sad truth is that without complex business partnerships between African elites and European traders and commercial agents, the slave trade to the New World would have been impossible, at least on the scale it occurred.
Black people in Africa got rid of their unwanted and undesirable population by selling them to Europeans, a strategy replicated by Mexico today as that nation gets ride of its unwanted population by encouraging illegal immigration to the United States, a country grossly negligent of protecting its border.
Throughout the history of the United States, the conflict between white and Black people has been the predominate narrative (in 1964, the United States was 90 percent white and roughly 10 percent Black).
Only recently has the nation undergone a radical transformation to its racial balance, creating a great imbalance that threatens to disintegrate the country into permanent violence and yet Black people remain firmly on the side of the invaders (even as they supplant Black people as the nations most dominant minority group).
Mexicans have decided to embark on the peaceful conquest of the western states (and by extension, every state) through massive illegal immigration. So much in fact that they know outnumber Black people, whereas in the 1960s those of Hispanic origin where a statistical oddity:
Hispanics outnumber blacks as the largest minority group in the USA for the first time since the government began counting the nation's population more than two centuries ago.
The U.S. Census Bureau's announcement Wednesday confirmed what many have treated as fact for some time. Even so, it's a symbolic milestone for a nation whose history has been dominated by black-white racial dynamics. Increased racial and ethnic diversity is adding a new dimension to everything from product marketing to political campaigning.
There are 38.8 million Hispanics in the USA, according to the latest Census Bureau estimates released Wednesday. The figures, as of July 1, show a 9.8% increase since the Census was taken in April 2000.
The U.S. population grew 2.5% to 288.4 million in the same period. Hispanics accounted for half of the national increase. Non-Hispanic blacks, including people who say they're black and another race, grew at a much slower rate than Hispanics, up 3.1%, to 36.6 million. Hispanics make up 13% of the nation's population. The number of Asians also surged. They're up 9% to 13.1 million..
Black and Hispanic groups were quick to emphasize common ground rather than differences.
"They keep trying to pit the African-American community against Hispanics when indeed we have a lot more in common than we have in disagreement," Hilary Shelton of the NAACP says. "The Hispanic community is made up of very many different racial groups. African-Americans are still the largest racial minority group.
Notice the key comment in this article from USA Today, that Black and Hispanic groups have commonality in their grievances with the white people of the United States. Oddly, Black people fail to understand the importance of their group interests and the rise of the Hispanic minority group represent one of the main impediments to the hegemony of Black Run America (BRA).
No one can positively estimate how many illegal immigrants are in this nation, but their mere presence poses a grave threat to Black people and the hope of building a successful Black middle class. Instead, that middle-class is being effectively eroded and stamped out as the two groups fight for menial jobs and lower paying vocations, with Hispanics driving down wages and forcing unemployed Black people to turn to a life of crime:
LSU Sociology Professor Edward Shihadeh and Ph.D. candidate Raymond Barranco have published a study titled "Latino Employment and Black Violence: The Unintended Consequence of U.S. Immigration Policy," in the March 2010 issue of Social Forces, the field's preeminent journal.
The study confirms that Latino immigration and dominance of low skill jobs have displaced blacks from low-skill labor markets, which in turn led to more violence in urban black communities. According to their analysis, this is traceable to U.S. immigration policies over the last several decades...
Sociological theory has linked black urban decline to poverty, the loss of manufacturing jobs and racial segregation. This study introduces another factor in the dense cluster of black disadvantage – immigration policy, which inadvertently flooded low skill markets with Latino labor, displaced blacks and, as a result, raised the rates of black murder.
Yes, two groups with diametrically opposed interests unite due to both factions motivation to supplant Pre-Obama America and the white majority. The coalition the Disingenuous White Liberals elite has built includes groups united under a leaky of umbrella of hatred of all things white.
Homosexual groups, Black people, Hispanics, animal-rights activists, global warming fanatics and human rights warrior (like Amanda Kijera) unite in opposition to Pre-Obama America, and the nation the greatest generation helped defend.
Black people (who don't like gay marriage) have no problem working with groups they might detest, because that same group also detests the majority population for its oppressive nature and thus, must be constantly bombarded and attacked by a united rainbow coalition.
Yet, Black people are the real losers of the racial displacement brought on by high levels of legal and illegal Hispanic immigration. Consider the state of California and the undeclared racial war festering in Los Angeles between the last vestiges of the Black population and the emerging Hispanic majority:
Since the 1990s, the changes described by Anderson have intensified. The demographic statistics are startling. The two high schools nearest the Los Angeles Coliseum—presumably the schools Anderson’s children would have attended—are Jefferson, two miles to the east, and Manual Arts, a half mile to the southwest. During the 1960s and ’70s, the schools were nearly 100 percent black—and Jefferson had been since the 1940s. Today Jefferson is 7 percent black and 92 percent Hispanic, and Manual Arts 20 percent black and 79.5 percent Hispanic.
The story is similar for the rest of South Central. Fremont High School, virtually 100 percent black during the 1960s and ’70s, is now 12 percent black and 88 percent Hispanic. Crenshaw and Locke, two high schools built after the Watts riots and nearly all black during their first 20 years, are now 32 percent and 63 percent Hispanic. Dorsey and Washington high schools, which went from white to black during the ’50s and early ’60s, are each now 45 percent Hispanic. Unchecked illegal immigration will ensure Hispanic majorities at the two schools within a few years.
The Democratic National Committee this morning released this clip of the president rallying the troops, if rather coolly, for 2010. Obama's express goal: "reconnecting" with the voters who voted for the first time in 2008, but who may not plan to vote in the lower-profile Congressional elections this year.
Obama speaks with unusual demographic frankness about his coalition in his appeal to "young people, African-Americans, Latinos, and women who powered our victory in 2008 [to] stand together once again."
Turning out those so-called "surge" voters -- who turned out for the first time to back Obama, but who sat out gubernatorial races in New Jersey and Virginia last year -- has become the Democrats' central pre-occupation for the midterm elections, and the new Democratic effort to nationalize the election around Obama and his agenda mark an attempt to energize those voters
Black people are being displaced and yet they align themselves with a future enemy for momentary gains against the white majority. It makes absolutely no sense, save for the hatred Black people cling to when it comes to the memory of how white people treated their ancestors.
Never mind that it was Black people who willingly sold those Black ancestors to Europeans for a profit so many centuries ago.
Traditional Black cities such as Harlem and Compton have become casualties in the invasion by illegal immigrants that Black people dare not criticize, unless they wish to be expelled from the coalition:
Race relations in Los Angeles County inner city neighborhoods may best be described in the opening line in the Charles Dickens' classic "A Tale of two Cities" — "It was the best of times; it was the worst of times."
In 1965, it was the "best of times" for me when I arrived in Los Angeles from Washington D.C. ("Chocolate City") to attend Pepperdine College. Pepperdine was then located in South Central L.A. in the midst of a predominantly African American residential community. Living on campus in an academic environment, there was peace and harmony between whites, African Americans and Hispanic students attending Pepperdine.
In my view, the demographic and population shifts played a major factor in the rise of crime and the racial conflicts in Los Angeles County. For example, the Racial and Ethnic Composition of Cities as recorded by Percentages in the Los Angeles County 2000 Census revealed that in the city of Compton the total population was more than 93,000. An estimated, 56.84% of residents were Hispanic and 40.31% were African Americans. Other white and ethnic groups made up the remaining percentages. I believe the reason for the shift from the former majority African American population to a majority Hispanic population was the flight of African American homeowners due to the rise in crime and the inability for the Los Angeles County Sheriff's inability to end the gang turf conflicts.
As African American homeowners and renters began moving out, mostly Hispanic immigrants from Mexico and Central America moved into cheap vacant housing. At the same time the Hispanic population continued to increase by leaps and bounds as birth rates increased dramatically. At the same time, the "great escape" of white folks from inner city communities continued resulting in the election of numerous African American and a small number of Hispanic city, county, state and congressional officials.
In the HBO comedy The Second Civil War, Hispanics control Los Angeles and only speak Spanish. The few remaining Black people in city wage a constant guerrilla war on those who have conquered them through mass Black apathy and indifference. We aren't far away from reality replicating fiction.
2010... A post-racial world was what we all thought was coming when we elected Mein Obama. Instead, the fault lines within the fragile minority coalition are growing evident and a strange movement from MARs is growing as enraged white party have taken to Tea Parties in an effort to show Washington who is boss.
South Africa will host the World Cup for all to see that nations 'progress' under the esteemed leadership of Black people. Arizona has decided to save middle-class jobs by uniting (70 percent favor the bill) to arrest illegal immigrants.
The Rev. Al Sharpton says he's ready to travel to Arizona and march in the streets to protest the state's new immigration law.
Sharpton joined Lillian Rodriguez Lopez from the Hispanic Federation in New York City on Sunday to speak out against the law. They say activists are prepared to commit civil disobedience to fight it.
Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer signed the bill Friday. It requires police to question people about their immigration status - including asking for identification - if they suspect someone is in the country illegally.
The law will take effect in late July or early August.
President Barack Obama has called the new law "misguided" and has instructed the Justice Department to examine it to see if it's legal.
Immigration Reform is a sad inclusion in the ranks of Stuff Black People Don't Like. Though Black people are being displaced in a land and nation they have resided (against their will) for centuries, they take the side of the invading population that will have little use for them once they have accomplished their Reconquista.
The hatred of Pre-Obama America within the hearts of Black people outweighs the desire for long-term survival.
