#104. Swimming

The athletic prowess of Black people is unquestioned. Being able to run and jump at levels that currently allow them to comprise more than 75 percent of the National Basketball Association (NBA) and 60 percent of the National Football League (NFL), despite being less than 13 percent of the United States population, one would imagine that Black people dominate all sports.

However, Black people are notoriously nautically challenged, as the trials and tribulations of entering any body of water - whether it be a lake, ocean, bathtub or natatorium - is one of the ultimate conundrums for our melanin- enhanced friends.

There is a paucity of Black people at beaches and swimming pools - especially among college swimming teams - and this trend shows no sign of change.

Perhaps no video showcases Black people's frustration with water better than Eric "The Eel" Moussambani at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney.

Nearly drowning, Moussambani epitomizes why Black people don't like swimming and what transpires when Black people are confronted by the complexities of the pool.

Eric the Eel can be viewed here.

Ignorant white people have many interesting eccentricities, which include disliking a litany of human beings who are not like them, everyday events, places, household objects and other aspects of their everyday life, including themselves.

This whole blog appears to be little more than a backhanded racial attack against African Americans. I cannot discern any validity for this collection of vaguely disparaging "facts" other than to further hammer in the narrow edge of the axe of racial intolerance. The cumulative effect is clear to me, as is your intent, to further marginalize an entire race of humans. You are widening the racial divide here.

I think, perhaps you are missing the point, my previous anonymous commentors.

Satire. Look it up. Google also the blog "things white people like".

This isn't thinly veiled at all - it's obviously meant to rile up whites. We whites need to realize that the other whites are our biggest problem.

I know it's supposed to be satire, - but because of continued racial bias, it just doesn't work.

The only bias was that these media workers and others cheered this on like some sort of an accomplishment. This was not the special olympics it was the real thing. I'm sick and tired of the celebration of mediocrity that the world has become. It does a great disservice to the people that work hard their whole lives to get where they are.

I don't think black people like the Tour de France either, which is odd considering they steal bikes so much. I would think they would dominate that too. They also don't like the Iron Man Triathlon.
