This is how BRA ends: A Reflection on Atlanta's Section 8 Riot and Economic Collapse

Oakland is cutting police officers due to budget cuts. East Saint Louis is cutting police officers due to budget cuts. Both cities overwhelmed by violence and crime of a certain variety that have an eroding tax base no longer capable of maintaining an already porous infrastructure.

Food stamp usage sits at 40.8 million people, however funding for this program is in jeopardy of being diverted to pay for other, more pressing matters:

Some Democrats are upset and advocacy groups are outraged over the raiding of the food-stamp cupboard to fund a state-aid bailout that some call a gift to teachers and government union workers.

House members convened Tuesday and passed the multibillion-dollar bailout bill for cash-strapped states that provides $10 billion to school districts to rehire laid-off teachers or ensure that more teachers won't be let go before the new school year begins, keeping more than 160,000 teachers on the job, the Obama administration says.

But the bill also requires that $12 billion be stripped from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, commonly known as food stamps, to help fund the new bill, prompting some Democrats to cringe at the notion of cutting back on one necessity to pay for another. The federal assistance program currently helps 41 million Americans.

A recent study on food stamp usage showed that 9/10 of Black children will be clients of this program by the time they are 20, which highlights the disproportionate racial allocation of this tax-payer supported entity:

In one of the most dramatic examples I've seen of the true reach of hunger in the United States, a new report released this week by Washington University in St. Louis researchers found that 90 percent of black children will be clients of the national Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP/Food Stamps) at least once by the time they turn 20…

Looking at race, marital status and education simultaneously, children who are black and whose head of household is not married with less than 12 years of education have a cumulative percentage of residing in a food stamp household of 97 percent by age 10.

US Department of Labor shows Black unemployment at 15.6 percent (just imagine what this number will be once the Federal Government starts hemorrhaging jobs), with a report published by DiversityINC magazine proclaiming that ¼ of Black people are underemployed. Black teenage unemployment and recent graduate unemployment is much worse.

The percentage of unemployable Black people has never been quantified, though the discrepancies in education and income between white and Black people should offer a glimpse into what that number might be (remember the median net worth for a single Black female is $5 dollars).

A fascinating study on the disparity between Black and white people can be found here, but to put it bluntly:

The wealth gap between white and African-American families became a giant chasm over the last generation, more than quadrupling during an era of bank deregulation, according to a study released Wednesday by Brandeis University’s Institute on Assets and Social Policy. Excluding home equity, white families now have a median net worth of $100,000, up from $22,000 in 1984. African-American families have a net worth of $5,000, up from around $2,000. One in four black families has no assets at all.

With this news in hand, we come to this story out of Atlanta, Georgia, where thousands upon thousands of Black people (pictures of this monochromatic event can be found here) lined up for public assistance help:

A crowd of people hoping to get federal housing assistance became unruly Wednesday morning with reports of fights breaking out in the crowd.

Thousands of people were lined up at the Tri-Cities Plaza shopping center, hoping to apply for a voucher from the East Point Housing Authority that will give them a discount on their rent.

People began lining up at the shopping center two days ago, and by Wednesday morning the crowd had grown to over several thousand people. East Point police, some wearing riot helmets, were patrolling the area. Firefighters and EMTs were attending to people who were overheating in the sun. Police from College Park, Hapeville, Fulton County and MARTA assisted in crowd control.

Felecia McGhee told the AJC she arrived around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday. She said the major problem began when people started breaking into the line and officials started moving the areas where they were handing out applications. She said she saw at least two small children trampled when the crowd rushed the building where the applications were to be handed out.

"It's a real mess out here," she said.

East Point Police Sgt. Cliff Chandler said most of those treated were suffering from heat-related illnesses. He did not have a total number of people treated but knew of at least a half-dozen cases. He said a toddler was treated earlier in the morning for "some type of seizure." He estimated the crowd at 8,000 to 10,000.

Recall that in 2009, Black people to the tune of 50,000 strong lined up in Detroit over the mere rumor of stimulus checks being passed out:

An estimated 50,000 residents of Detroit filed into Cobo Hall convention center on Wednesday seeking assistance to pay utility bills and keep from being evicted from their homes. City officials, who expected around 3,000 people to apply for the aid, were overwhelmed by the turnout.

In a scene reminiscent of the crowds of jobless workers who lined up for free soup during the Great Depression, a queue of tens of thousands of workers and unemployed people wound around the downtown arena. Young mothers pushing baby carriages, disabled workers in wheelchairs, senior citizens and throngs of young workers and youth stood for hours waiting. Many had slept on the streets the previous evening to be the first served.

Black Run America (BRA) will implode on itself, this much is certain. The United States is hopelessly bankrupt and can no longer make tribute payments to pacify the Black population festering in a sea that is anything but tranquil.

BRA's collapse will happen swiftly and quickly, with the speed of an uncontrollable zombie contagion, once the government can no longer make payments necessary to maintain peace in economically non-viable areas. Even CNN reports on the threat of power outages across the United States and the possibility of rioting.

It should come as no surprise that SBPDL cannot stop smiling at the speed and rapidity of the developments transpiring in BRA, conspiring quite publicly to bring the whole rotten system crashing down.

It was always unsustainable, and now, with recent developments transpiring across the nation (Omar Thornton, Shirley Sherrod come to mind) many people are beginning to realize just how powerful the coalition that maintains BRA is, yet the stunning lack of funds to maintain this alliance shows just how fragile it truly is in the end.

There has never been reason to despair. Never. The time for holding false illusions of what the United States once was and the desire to return that state are over.

In the end, we should have known all along that Black Run America was economically sustainable. Only through greater taxation could this model continue, and a movement is afoot across the nation that has usurped the age-old idea of supplying Boston harbor with tea.

Yes, the Tea Party – though they deny being racist – stand counter to any demands of raising taxation, united in keeping onerous levels of taxes to a minimum.

The election of Mein Obama has created a stalemate for Black people. Though they support him with near monolithic numbers and look upon him as a God-king (he’ll pay my mortgage!), the truth is he presides over the dissolution of BRA.

Black people will turn on Barry soon, once those great expectations of his administration leveling a playing field that nature and nurture have no intention over ever leveling, come to a crashing end.

We may not know what the future holds, but current events provide ample evidence that something extraordinary is on the horizon.

BRA could never be defeated by legislation (the judicial system would have struck down any law questioning the dominance of Black omnipotence), nor by an elected official.

Only through hubris could what is about to happen, ensue.

It is to all of you reading this blog and who might come across it at some, unknown future date that this simple refrain be remembered: courage is the ultimate ally against the forces of BRA, especially as the center begins to unravel.

Cities with high crime zones that require constant police surveillance will be the first to cut funding for these programs. Just like in Oakland and East St. Louis. Few states are in the black financially; those that are not have difficult choices to make concerning the allocation of dwindling funds. When states go bankrupt, payments to Black people end.

When these payments end, you'll see situations like the Section 8 riot in Atlanta replicated everywhere.

Those who can see know exactly what is happening. It is up to you, dear reader, to become leaders in your community. In the end, that is all we can do, save swimming out past the breaker and watch the world die.

And of course, we know that is what BRA wishes would occur.'

The chaos in Atlanta can be found here.

Interesting take - that this (massive black riots over entitlements) is how BRA will end. I've been reading proposals of secession, insurrection, etc., but just today at another blog I saw a comment echoing your point - that the violence will not begin with either the white tea partiers or Dear Leader's government, but with the blacks when the government cannot fulfill those expectations for largesse it has set ever higher. The big question though, is when will this level of black unrest be unleashed in majority white areas? As long as it's confined to black urban areas and the victims are either other blacks or the Asian/Pakistani shopkeepers, most whites feel insulated. There was a bit of unease with the reports of those whites caught in the Rodney King riots and the Katrina (Africa in our midst) fiasco, but by and large most whites live far enough removed from majority-black areas to pretend they are not directly affected by black pathologies. When black mobs move out to the suburbs, then things will get truly interesting.

If it were not for food stamps blacks would not feed their kids. They would starve their way to Hell just like they do in Africa.

The time is growing short folks!. Our republic is to far gone. Blacks will NEVER be anything other than what the whole planet see's everyday. Our economy is on a precipice & our astronomical debts WILL collapse the dollar! (& soon!). Once that happens, bye-bye whole ballgame!!. No more welfare, foodstamps, AA, headstart, quota set-asides, government housing, funding for HBC's, et.al...Once blacks no longer receive ANY benefits from white largess then our cities WILL burn!!.

Black people have a decidedly unAmerican inferiority complex. I've failed dozens of times, been yelled at lots. I've had teachers, friends, family, strangers, etc., give me plenty of shit. No black guy could ever have lived life in my shoes. It seems their first reaction is violence. Instead of taking a step back and asking themselves, "Why is this douche bag breaking my balls," they get with the bustin'-a-cap business. It's sad and it's regressive ...

I guess they don't have copy machines in the East Point housing area. SBPDL, I've posted in the comment section about how this recession is actually a good step in the right direction towards dismantling the entitlement and welfare programs, and I'm happy to see an entire entry on the topic.

I don't think that the cutting of welfare will provide a lesson to the black folks about self reliance, not a chance. However, at the same time I don't think that we will see mass starvation and famine seen in poor African nations. I expect the black folks to survive as they have been without a substantial aggregate change to their living standard. However, I expect the recession to illuminate to both whites and the productive minority groups, one of which I am a part of, that welfare is a highly corrupt and wasteful system.

I would gladly donate canned food items and non perishables to any family in need if the case warrants it. I don't want to see people starving no matter what race. However, I find it highly objectionable that money is taken out of my pocket to be given to a shit bag politician to redistribute to his constituents in order to elevate his political standing, and of course while skimming off the top.

This is a portend of bigger things to come. Mayhem, just for a piece of paper that might, in a few years time, entitle them to some housing assistance of some kind.

Now if this sort of behavior happens for a piece of paper of no immediate value, imagine what would happen if the daily/weekly/monthly necessities ran out, or the entitlements to buy said needs?

This would be nothing compared to the sort of madness and mayhem that would transpire at that point. Hopefully the violence will remain intrinsic, and the powers that be, who have been pushing the BRA agenda, will at that point be unable to continue making one excuse after another for this social experiment.

I'm on unemployment because of layoffs. It's a handout, I know. But I paid into unemployment and pay taxes to the tune of about 35% federal and about 10% state (CA). Do these blacks ever pay taxes?? Yet they expect the government to meet all their needs. Pisses me off.

When it does happen whites living in states with low firearm ownership are doomed.

Because of the nonexistent black family structure, blacks are not taught about personal emergency funds, the difference between needs and wants, and delayed gratification like white children are. Needs to blacks are cell phones, hair-dos, expensive sneakers, X-Box, rims, single serving food items, weed, energy drinks and flashy clothing. They will not pay their "light bill" in order to pay for $100 baby sneakers and hair weaves. Once blacks find out that needs are actually food, shelter and water, they will not be prepared. As long as the government keeps paying for their needs, they have lots of extra money for wants. Blacks live a frivolous life, and are not prepared for survival, and will only be able to last for a few hours if the grid fails or the entitlements end. See hurricane Katrina footage if you want to see what will happen in major cities.

In the late 18th century and early 19th century, Barbary pirates kept harassing US merchant ships traveling in the Mediterranean. Eventually USA worked out a deal to pay tribute to the pirates to keep them from attacking US ships, shortly after Jefferson became president how ever he announced that he would stop paying tribute to the pirates and instead declared war. You might be wondering what this has to do with the current topic? Well we only paid tribute to these pirates for a few years, we've been paying blacks tribute for 40 years.

Doesn't really matter if its Section 8 vouchers or running out of free chicken. If the blacks insatiable appetite for handouts isn't quenched a riot is the inevitable result.

..and then....

Couldn't they just make the application forms available on the internet?

Stuff Black People Don't Like said...

Last anon,

You'd think this would be so. Interesting, research shows that fully 84 percent of Black people have cell phones and 48 percent of those use those phones to check the internet.

http://pewresearch.org/databank/dailynumber/?NumberID=827

http://bits.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/07/22/mobile-internet-use-shrinks-digital-divide/

Regardless, the entire story of the Section 8 riot in Atlanta is of great interest, because of the points made in the following article from the AJC.com:

"Thirty thousand people turned out in East Point on Wednesday seeking applications for government-subsidized housing, and their confusion and frustration, combined with the summer heat, led to a chaotic mob scene that left 62 people injured.

All of this resulted from people attempting to obtain Section 8 housing applications and, against long odds, later securing vouchers for affordable residences. Some waited in line for two days for the applications.

Offering applications for the first time since 2002, East Point Housing Authority officials had triple the crowd they anticipated, and one that was three-fourths of the 40,000 population of the south Fulton city. Things got out of hand when people started cutting into lines and authorities attempted to move groups to different areas."

Ladies and gents,

The United States is bankrupt. You have a teething underclass that relies on the benevolence of the system known as BRA to support their life styles.

The sign of things to come was on display in Atlanta. There is no going back anymore.

This story is far worse than you are even presenting.

From the same Atlanta paper you linked too earlier today:

"Lemish said 13,000 applications were distributed Wednesday and that everyone who showed up before the 1 p.m. deadline received one.

Applicants came from all over the metro area and some came from other states. Since the program is a federal program, applications are not limited to East Point residents, Lemish said.

The current process is being conducted because, while all housing units are filled, the waiting list is depleted and the current group of applicants will be put on a new waiting list. There are a total of 655 housing spots available -- 200 public housing units and 455 vouchers for rent assistance in private housing. East Point currently has five housing developments, but three of them will be closed or sold.

Lemish said it will likely be six months before any vacancies arise and that people could spend up to 10 years on the waiting list."

http://www.ajc.com/news/atlanta/east-point-begins-taking-589653.html

So 30,000 Black people show up to battle it out for the chance at one of 655 housing vacancies?

30,000! 30,000 people for the off-beat chance of their application being approved so that they can reside in one of 655 vacancies.

I started reading this site about 5 months ago. I liked the writing style, the use of video/pop culture references and the general tone of the site.

But reading this story and some from the past few weeks, I've noticed a shift from the humor to more reporting and analysis.

Is it bad to say I'm hooked? Donation coming, whoever you are SBPDL.

Get a PO BOX!

30,000 people though... I was never one to believe the notion of economic collapse, riots, etc. I do now.

Regarding making the application forms available online...you would think so, but so far no journalist has apparently asked that question.

I remember back in 1995 - 1996, when the Internet was really becoming popular and we started getting stories out of the media about how disadvantaged black children were because they were XX% less likely to have Internet access than white children.

Fast forward 14-15 years and the discussion has now changed from the disparity of Internet access and computers between white and black households in 1995 to "bridging the digital divide" by making sure more black households have access to broadband services through government stimulus money in 2010. According to this article at Wired.com, most Americans don't believe the government should be pushing broadband on the citizens, but look who is in favor of it:

http://www.wired.com/epicenter/2010/08/broadband-should-not-be-a-government-priority-pew-internet-study/

"But the really surprising finding was that 53% of the 2,252 American adults polled by telephone (744 interviewed on cell phones) said the spread of affordable broadband should not be a major government priority. Only 41% said it should be. People under 30 and African-Americans were most likely to be in favor, but the 21% who said they were currently not online were “especially resistant to government involvement in broadband promotion,” according to the researchers."

So, maybe HUD didn't think their Section 8 demographic would have Internet access (ever heard of a public library), or, more likely, they were swamped with more applicants than could logically have been expected. They had people out there from New York, Michigan, Tennessee, etc...trying to get on the waiting list.

A common thread I've noticed among most of the people interviewed by local and national media on this story is: single mother, 5-7 children each, and apparently no husband in the picture.

I can tell you where the next digital battle is going to be: Kindles. Watch as suburban, more affluent school districts, in order to save costs, start buying Kindles and E-books for their students and requiring school book companies to make their books and articles available for download. We'll start to get sob stories from the media about how inner-city, disadvantaged youth are being forced to carry 30lbs of heavy books to and from school everyday while suburban kids are carrying around a 3lb Kindle or laptop to download all their homework.
