#89. Bad Family Reunion T-Shirts

Black people are fiercely individualistic when it comes to sports, especially in how they compete in so-called team sports such as basketball, soccer and football. The differences in the racial styles of athletic performance were apparent during the 2010 NCAA Basketball Tournament and most recently, the 2010 World Cup where African teams have performed abysmally.

In football, so-called “showboating” or “taunting” after a long-run, big hit by a defensive player or stupendous catch by a receiver is a recurrent theme practiced with increasing passion by Black people.

Yet, this individualism wears off quickly when a member of the Black community comes under scrutiny from the outside world at large. An attack on one Black person is translated as an attack on all, as Black people will rally to the defense of any derelict, regardless of the severity of his or her crime.

Michael Jackson, a wayward soul until his untimely demise nearly a year ago, was welcomed with open arms into the big tent of Blackness once his ethereal form regained dark features.

Juxtaposed, this extreme form of individualism in sports coupled with an emphatic belief in the importance of defending Blackness whenever it comes under attack – regardless of the individual’s crime – is to be applauded.

Nowhere can these two clashing ideas be seen with greater impact than a Black family reunion, a veritable institution that Black people consider a holier occasion than any religious date on the calendar.

You see, the Black family is in shambles across the nation, so the family reunion stands as a heroic defense against the alarming disintegration of a once nominally intact familial unit, and a proud reminder that some Black families have the ability to stand together while ruination consumes their community:

But it's also true that African-American families were much more intact in the decades before the Civil Rights Act than they were in the decades after it. In 1963, according to the famous Department of Labor report issued by Daniel Patrick Moynihan two years later, the out-of-wedlock birth rate among blacks was 23.6 percent while the rate among whites was only 3.07 percent. By 2005, according to the National Center for Health Statistics, the out-of-wedlock birth rate among non-Hispanic whites had jumped to 25.3 percent and the rate among non-Hispanic blacks stood at nearly 70 percent.

In other words, the black out-of-wedlock birth rate was lower in 1963--on the eve of the Civil Rights Act, when Jim Crow policies were still an ugly reality in the American South and white racism was far more widespread than it is today--than the non-Hispanic white rate was in 2005.

There is no reason to harangue people about the monumentally depressive state of the Black family (in finances as well), for the recalcitrant nature of Black pupils that Crusading White Pedagogues attempt to impart knowledge upon is but one example of the lethargy infecting this community.

However, the family reunion offers refuge from the complacent nature of Black people as they gather together to celebrate accomplishments in the warm embrace of multiple generations. A family reunion is nothing to scoff at, for an opportunity to see the various branches of a family tree spread out in person is a marvelous occurrence that white people are granted only at weddings and graduations.

With the infrastructure of the Black family crumbling daily, the family reunion is reminder of what helps maintain a strong foundation for success: strong bonds that tie generations together, making young people aware of their mortality by seeing older faces and older people aware of their responsibilities by the young faces present.

The often-maligned Tyler Perry came out with a film entitled Madea’s Family Reunion, which showcased the troubles that plague the Black family (grandmothers are prone to caring for Black babies born out-of-wedlock in the Black community).

And yet, through all the familial revelry and enjoyment, only one thing truly matters in the whole experience and that is getting the T-Shirt which signifies that the Black individual did indeed attend a Black family reunion:

It doesn’t matter if your vision of a family reunion is a 50-person potluck, 500 family members packed in the local park, or a weekend cruise to nowhere -- if you don’t plan it right, your folk may disown you.

So says Sandra Jamison, author of “Finding Your People: An African American Guide to Discovering Your Roots,” who has planned and attended more than a few family reunions -- and has the T-shirts to prove it.

She says Africans Americans have a history of being disbursed across the country and an even stronger history of reuniting to celebrate their heritage and family pride.

With July and August prime family reunion season, Jamison offers tips to make your family reunion a success. “Getting together with the folks from up north or down south has been a part of our culture," she says. It’s not unlike planning a wedding, so don’t forget the reason you are doing this.

You may think you're an experienced event or wedding planner, but it’s best not to turn into the bridezilla of the reunion and micromanage every last detail, Jamison says. “Identify responsible people in your family. Make sure they have e-mail and know exactly what they are supposed to do,” she says.

Create a planning committee of three or four people, put them in charge of logistics, invitations, food and activities. Keep communication open and continuous leading up to the big day. Have a list of action items. For more details, go to check this article, Celebrating Your Roots! Tips for Planning Your Reunion for great family reunion planning tips.

All I Got Is a T-Shirt?

A black family reunion is not complete without the T-shirt, says Jamison. “Don’t think for a second you can get away with not having a T-shirt made for everybody,” she says. But a silk-screen souvenir is not the only way to make your reunion memorable. Try to think outside the box for different family reunion give-aways. Remember, it’s about family and your roots. Jamison suggests having a family tree posted somewhere and let people add to it. Or consider framing your family tree in an inexpensive picture frame for each family attending. Or have a talented family write the
story about the founding family members.

Family reunions are not permanent gatherings, but finite events. Like a vacation, some sort of paraphernalia must be procured to prove you once attended such an increasingly mythically - in its conception – event.

At airports across the country, large contingents of Black people can be seen sporting T-shirts that quickly identify them as being part of a family. This item is a Black person’s most invaluable accoutrement, reminiscent of marathon runners acquiring a Boston Marathon T-shirt for the successful completion of the 26-mile race.

Once the reunion ends however, Black people who gathered in mass to pay homage to their family will become lowly individuals again and wearing a family reunion T-shirt will help them stand out in a sea of humanoids (see US senatorial candidate Alvin Greene wearing his family reunion T-shirt in this interview).

Thus, Stuff Black People Don’t Like includes bad family reunion T-shirts for the meeting of multiple generations of Black people to celebrate blood relations is an event that must be properly recorded for the annals of time with a handsome T-shirt.

The family reunion T-shirt is a way for Black people to "showboat" and "taunt" those deprived souls denied such clothing.

A bad T-shirt design means no one attending the reunion will wear it, bringing to mind the eternal question: if a tree falls in a forest and no one is around, does it make a sound?

The video you posted of Alvin G. Well...he seems like he might have Aspergers or be on the Autism spectrum, an 'affliction' that, according to current knowledge, mostly affects whites. One of the symptoms of Aspergers is an acute discomfort when in with disingenuous social interactions. Now you're making fun of 'handicapped' people as well? Score. As far as the dancing, while it might seem ridiculous to the more repressed and inhibited white folks who are uncomfortable with overt displays of physical expression, aside from being an ancient technique aimed at displaying unity and reaching transcendence and achieving out-of-body trance states characterized by emotions of pure bliss (as the vocalist says on the track: "I'm 'bout to power up, I'm 'bout to transform...feel like I'm out my body, oh yeah I'm out my body...I'm on another level"), I'm sure those girls had a blast doing it as well.

Thanks for posting that, it was great fun!

I'm a bit confused as to what the problem is here. Is it family reunions? A lot of people have them. Is the problem reunion t-shirts or t-shirts in general? A good portion of people wear both.

I can't put my finger on the issue here

Black Guy,

Just simply "Bad Family Reunion T-shirts".

Family reunions are a good thing, as are good family reunion T-shirts.

But a bad family reunion T-shirt invalidates the whole event, meaning no one will wear it.

Most people believe the Black family is hopelessly inept and the family reunion T-shirt runs counter to this thought.

Concerning Alvin Greene and Aspergers Syndrome, I'm not the only one who thinks this. I'd never heard of him before today but after I left that comment I felt like I might have jumped the gun (glock, sawed off and ruger!) in saying he might have Aspergers, so I did some research and other people think the same thing. Aspergers is classified as a disability but I think it's closer to a different form of perception that only generally disables people from being complete fake sarcastic morons all the time and healthily adjusting to western society. I want to make clear that I meant no offense at all by saying that, as I don't strictly think of it as a negative, which is why I put the words "handicapped" and "affliction" in quotes. The main source of negativity, it seems to me, is the complete and utter lack of sensitivity other human beings tend to have towards people who exhibit these tendencies.

Asperger's is associated with a high degree of intelligence and many philosophical and scientific geniuses, such as Wittgenstein and Einstein, are suspected of having had it. Furthermore, there is a theory that it derives from the Neanderthal admixture into the gene pool of Homo sapiens sapiens, an admixture which affected only the races that left Africa (Australoid, Mongoloid, Caucasoid...).

Then again, he might just be a dumbass, a condition that, according to current knowledge, mostly affects blacks.

And since he's black, it makes sense.

Then again, if you've ever seen most professional black athletes being interviewed, and they sound borderline retarded, it's probably because they have a disease that mostly affects whites.

Yeah, that's the ticket.

SBPDL, I'm very surprised that you'd post a black dancing video, but neglect this old favorite...

Every cruise that I have ever been on has had either a black church group or a family reunion group sporting group t-shirts. They can normally be heard on the ship well before they are seen. I cant stop laughing!

That last "stroll" vid reminds me of those old National Geographic films of African tribal dances, only with extra air dry humping thrown in. And being White doesn't make one repressed or inhibited, that's just a ridiculous and patently racist comment. This "dance" is just another example of one of the many differences that exist between White and Black culture, but more importantly it shows why the two cultures will never be compatible.

Race is like sex and age: it carries information it would be foolish to ignore. Three unknown black men in your back yard are a greater menace than three otherwise similar white men in your back yard. Everyone knows this, including blacks and liberal journalists and Ted Kennedy.

I find it quite amazing that blacks can still manage to have family reunions. What with all the males leaving the families. All the blacks killing each other or ending up in jail.

But, then again, The black woman does have a high propensity towards shooting out a litter of babies like no other can. Multiple no show "fathers" are all that is needed.

I do have a theory. As it is in prison, where one cannot wear their own clothes for fear of gang rivalry, so it may be at black family reunions. So many thugs, gang members, and God knows what else show up to these reunions. And it is safer to avoid potential conflict by having everyone wear the same thing.

It is a very good idea. And the blacks should be applauded for trying to avoid violence.

If you've ever witnessed a black family reunion in person, less than %10 of the attendees are adult males, between %40 and %50 are adult females, and the rest are illegitimate children running loose.

Correction, should read "obese adult females".

Hilarity Ensues said...

LOL! You are all hilarious. As my name telegraphs, after every post I make hilarity will surely ensue.

First off, I'm fully aware of rdos.net and that theory is absurd seeing as how it literally hinges on the preposterous proposition that Africans never innovated or invented anything (like stringed instruments, and thousands upon thousands of other things Africans DID invent, which is on the historical record, if you researched anything other than racist sources you'd know this), which I'm sure you all agree with, because you're apparently biased idiots. I'm just commenting on what I see. Further, the vast majority of black people haven't been tested, so to postulate such a thing on such loose evidence is entirely unscientific and irresponsible. I am an 'aspie' by the way (never liked that term), and other Aspergerians think he might be as well. It's totally unimportant to me though. And I never said being white makes one repressed or inhibited. I said: "while it might seem ridiculous to the MORE repressed and inhibited white folks..." Learn to read critically before you spew the exact type of nonsense you spend so much time criticizing and accusing black of spewing. And social phobia or anxiety problems would still be classified as handicaps. Think. Before. You. Type.

And yes, "pagan mumbo jumbo crap", just like EVERY ritual and custom in Christianity is "pagan mumbo jumbo crap", like decorating the Christmas tree, which stems from Siberian Shamans hanging Amanita Muscaria from pine trees, or putting gifts under those trees, which stems from WHERE THE AM's GROW, or Santa Claus, which stems from those same shamans riding reindeer drawn sleighs carrying knapsacks filled with Amanitas and entering into Siberian ice-huts through a hole cut in the roof (for ventilation, the huts were buried beneath snow) to perform healing rituals which involved the Shaman ingesting the Amanitas and the villagers drinking his urine, which releases a purified form of Muscimol, the active alkaloid in Amanita Muscaria. And the Easter Bunny. And Communion. And Confession. And Moses. And Jesus. You really expect your little opinions to be taken seriously when you don't even know the basic origins of so many widely proliferated aspects of your own damn (cannibalized) culture? Sorry, but I'm not interested in arguing with babies. You're not even aware of the real issues are. You wouldn't know Truth if shot you in the face. Your fear is evident, you fear black people. Me, I'd consider three unknown men of any race in my back yard a threat. You, you'd get shot, black-bagged and gang-raped because you thought that since it was three good white men there could be no problem. You are intellectual infants. I have one more comment to make on a different thread and then I will no longer be concerned with you.

Hilarity Ensues said...

p.s. "other people think the same thing" wasn't meant to persuade you. As I've stated elsewhere, in my longer post which I'm sure most of you did not take the time to read, I'm not at all concerned with persuading you. I was merely stating my opinion, and the fact that other people, particularly diagnosed Aspergerians, shared the same initial impression was of interest to me. I have an idea, anonymous, stop hiding being sarcasm an anonymity. Your own handicaps are all too apparent, and you might be exacerbating them by continuing in this manner.

Never mind that he might already know he has a tendency to state more than the average idiot wants to read and therefore is probably forever condemned to have dumb comments logged after every one of his! You're right, hilarity does ensue after reading your posts! By the way, great job on promising not to post anymore, then immediately making another post. Attention whore much? But oh, whatever you do, don't leave us! Whatever would we do without you?

I will acknowledge that you are not a complete dumbass. You manage to write with mostly correct spelling and grammar; unfortunately, that is your biggest accomplishment. How can you be so in love with yourself? Where does this narcissism stem from? Any shrink would have a field day with you. And you are seeing a shrink, aren't you? Of course you are.

Why are you trying to prove yourself to the readers of this blog? Newsflash: nobody cares about the story of your life. You don't have any meaningful insights. You are not intelligent enough to write a book. You are not important! You posture as though you're the departmental chair of an Ivy League school, but you argue with the critical thinking skills of a high school sophomore with a 2.9 GPA. You are simply a poser trying to prove something to someone online. Good job dumbass, you're less than mediocre.

Now leave this blog like you promised. We don't need your scum. Get out and never come back!

Hilarity Ensues said...

For that I will, quite predictably, post again! I never 'promised' anything. Narcissism? Please. I thought I hated myself. I thought all black people hated themselves and wished they were white. And no, I'm not seeing a shrink. Once again, you are wrong.

"I will acknowledge that you are not a complete dumbass."

I don't need any kind of validation from you. I know myself. Typical racist behavior, to turn a compliment into an insult. Stop crawling around in the grass.

I know I'm not important. That doesn't bother me in the slightest. None of us are important. Only ALL of us. One (1) without another (2) is nothing (0).

I never told you the story of my life. The argument skills you've displayed are dismal and pretty much non-existent. You haven't even come close to entering into any form of debate. Just insults and sarcasm. Try winning an election like that...oh, wait, I forgot about GWII. I have nothing to prove to the readers of this blog. This whole endeavor has been a (failed) attempt to prove to my girlfriend that even vicious white racists can expose their humanity from time to time. I have friends who used to be skinheads before they joined the military and due to this fact I was operating on the assumption that maybe the brackish, brutal and pigheaded displays I've seen from most racists doesn't apply to all of them, maybe there are certain fears they have that just need addressing, or maybe they haven't been truly exposed to the true humanity of other races, since they tend to come from very sheltered environments or have suffered abuse at the hands of a small minority of the 'minority' population. Maybe, just maybe, if I express honesty then they will return the gesture. This was my core premise. Of course, I don't like you types of people, so it's hard to hide that. I still think that if we met in person and had a discussion that you were actually OPEN to having that not only would you hesitate to spew vile stereotypes at me, you might even listen to a few things I had to say.

But overall, this experiment has failed, quite miserably.

And if you think I'm "posturing" as an Ivy League departmental head then that's all on you. I'm not posturing as anything. I was honest from the start and all I got was derision.

Again, before you criticize my arguing skills why don't you actually offer me an ARGUMENT and not just a mess of insults? You get what you give.

Now maybe I'll never comment again! I happened to refresh this page and see your post and thought it warranted a response just in case anyone else with less of a hard-on for hating black people happened upon it.

What I find funny and it seems to be a pattern with blacks; that you all never give facts to back up claims.

"Africans never innovated or invented anything (like stringed instruments, and thousands upon thousands of other things Africans DID invent, which is on the historical record"

Where can I find this almighty list of the thousands upon thousands of invented and improved items made by black africans? It is funny, but everything I can think of was made by whites. Surely every modern thing was. I find your claim absurd and without any merit.

Now as far as pagan christianity. Alot of those things are Catholic, I am not catholic, and I do not agree with catholicism. The bible even talks out against Christmas trees,{Jeremiah 10:2-4}. But that is not the point of Christmas, it is about celebrating Jesus's Birth. Catholicism did take some pagan holidays and throw christianity onto them, yes. But so what? Christians do not celebrate holidays for pagan reasons.

The rest of your rant is ad hominem garbage.

I have sources, the question is will you read them? Perhaps not. But I will risk wasting my time to compile this short list of links that are easily discoverable if you ever had the notion to google "Ancient African Inventions" or some similar phrase:

http://www.math.buffalo.edu/mad/00.INDEXmad.html

http://www.iaimuseum.org/

http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/1078539/african_history_precolonial_african.html?cat=37

http://inventors.about.com/od/blackinventors/Famous_Black_Inventors.htm

Also, a short list: The wheel, language, writing, rafts, weapons, clothing, tools, traps, the marked stick for measuring, ways of making fire and smelting copper and iron, the baby sling, the iron machete, papyrus, the earliest form of writing paper, the game of Chess originated in Africa and then spread to Persia and India, irrigation, mummification and methods of preserving the deceased such as petroleum which is still used as a preservative today, mining, using cotton as a fabric, instruments such as the fiddle, the slit gong, the thumb piano, the harp, bows, modern conveniences such as soap, ceramics, hair braiding, domestication of animals, systems of higher education (universities began in Timbuktu), mathematics, masks, archery, walking upright and it is possible to continue, but in all honesty I'm not that concerned with what modern western innovations black people have accomplished (like the space shuttle retrieval arm), you can find that information on your own. It means very little to me as my views on what constitutes culture and advancement are obviously quite different from your own.

Concerning the Siberian shamans:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amanita_muscaria#Siberia

http://www.secondattention.org/articles/psy_christmas.asp

And concerning Christ:

http://rationalrevolution.net/articles/jesus_myth_history.htm

http://www.truthbeknown.com/

Christianity has a shocking amount of parallels to other, far more ancient faiths and mythologies. I have no interest in challenging your faith, although I would suggest familiarizing yourself with the opinions and research of others and then making decisions based on that rather than just doing what you've been told to do since you were born. Besides, you're not even doing it well! Would Jesus, the dark-skinned Jew with wooly hair and a message of love, peace and unity everlasting, condone your bigoted and judgmental attitudes? Really? Do you really think he would?

And that's all. You do the knowledge if you want the wisdom.

They're not gonna suddenly say to themselves "Oh shit, I'm...I'm kind of wrong about...why, a LOT of things! Thanks two or three random black people on a website!" And resisting them only seems to make them stronger in their hostility, at least most of them according to what I've seen. Some of them have apparently learned how to talk so that it might seem as if though they're truly just voicing concerns. If this were 10 years ago it'd be hard to find a fully formed thought that wasn't punctuated by "ni***r, animal, monkey, banana, go back to africa, coon, jungle bunny, big lips" and all the other familiar expressions we've heard for so long and that have contributed to our anger as a race even though these same people now want to invalidate that anger and make fun of the symptoms...

Anyway, thanks again and keep doing you.

I see, so those links show the thousands upon thousands of inventions made by black africans? Good to know. Thousands upon thousands of inventions will take awhile to look through.

Now as far as the wheel.

http://library.thinkquest.org/C004203/science/science02.htm

Infact, Blacks really did not invent much of anything you listed. Writing was Sumerian, not black. The First set of clothing was made by God himself for Adam and Eve. Language would have dated back to Adam and Eve. Humans have always stood upright since evolution is garbage. Infact most historical thought is skewed by evolutional and long age thinking which corrupts accurate findings.

Altho, I do have a list myself which is interesting. Cars, Electricity, Democracy, internet, T.V., modern science, radio, modern medicine, America, planes, trains, english, antibiotics, computers, nuclear energy, telephone, cell phone, movies, modern surgery, republic, constitution, microscope, telescope, DNA discovery, camera, discovery of Atom, Discovery of cells, banking, space flight, air conditioning, Pasteurization, periodic table. And many many many many more.

Just about anything and everything that makes this world work. In other words, there would be no civilization without whites. We would all be living in huts, drinking Zebra piss, and bathing in flies. You could not even use your computer to comment on this site, with your inaccuracies, if not for whites. It is so funny. Laugh with me, ha ha ha.

Now as far as Christianity seeming similar to pagan religions. Nonsense. I have dealt with this claim before. The link below deals with such garbage. See, the problem is, since Jesus who is God, created this world and all creation, then there is nothing older. Paganism and false religions came afterwards as a result of sin. Just like the flood story. The real flood account is in the bible. But, many groups have their own flood stories. All similar, but perverted in some way. Which means a flood did happen. Same thing with perverted religions and their similarity to christianity. You have the one true source and then the rest are perverted. Very simple.

"The First set of clothing was made by God himself for Adam and Eve. Language would have dated back to Adam and Eve." LMAO! Nevertheless, you have thus provided me with a great example. Here:

"ADAMU

In Sumerian and Babylonian mythology, Adamu was the first man. The gods tricked Adamu and his descendants out of immortality - not wanting man to be immortal like the gods - by telling him that the magic food of eternal life was poisonous to him, and as such Adamu didn't eat it and so didn't become immortal."

In truth, I'm not a Darwinian at all, but I do believe that life has gone through various stages.

I went to the site you linked, since I'm interested in truth and not broad and fictional misrepresentations of it, and I remain thoroughly unconvinced. While the articles there do provide some true information the majority of it is hampered by their faith. To deny the ancient archetypal imagery and the remnants of pagan philosophy and occult mystery traditions peppered throughout all of Christianity is to deny it's rich (though often bloody, brutal, savage and terrifying) history.

As to the wheel, I'm not claiming that no other culture was capable of independently conceiving of it, as you are, nor am I claiming that no other culture did indeed do just that. I am claiming that Africans did so as well. Your sources, almost all from white males in cherished tenured positions at often notoriously intellectually fascist universities, are at least as biased as my own.

As to the other inventions you've listed: you have no perspective. I am not trying to take any credit away from the white 'race', or from any 'race' of humans. It is my belief, backed up by sound scientific theory (http://www.sheldrake.org/homepage.html) that all humans share a collaborative responsibility for both our destructive and constructive inventions. The sources of the manifestations of our collective consciousness are often arbitrary and unpredictable. All life is consciousness expressed, with various shifting tendencies which are often modified, first by environment and then, through adaptation, genetics. But neither of these are superior or eternal. It is always shifting. Consciousness itself is what is superior and it stems from itself, and any entity that is conscious is wholly capable of tapping into any portion of the vast reservoir of thought and experience we all share. As Newton wrote, "If I have seen further it is only by standing on the shoulders of giants." This, I believe, extends to all things. I find it hilarious that I am arguing with a Christian who wholeheartedly believes that Adam and Eve wore the first sets of clothing yet entirely ignores and degrades his own Savior, who said "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."

Hilarity Continues said...

And Africa was MUCH better off before whites and all their 'great' inventions came along ANYWAY! It is not our races that I think are incompatible, it is the CURRENT differences in our cultures that cause the most problems.

And none of what you mentioned makes this world work. What you call God makes this world work. God and the inventions of God, such as water, soil, air, fire and thought. It is arguable that western culture is the one most separate from the source, as it is the one that absolutely requires so many harmful, banal, pointless and unnecessary trinkets and toys to exist. Have you forgotten the lesson of Adam and Eve? God provided them with ALL THEY NEEDED TO LIVE AND LOVE. They were cast out of paradise for ignoring that simple fact in a selfish act. How you cannot see that this is not an allegorical story, a parable as it were, is beyond me.

Hillarity Ensues,

"The First set of clothing was made by God himself for Adam and Eve. Language would have dated back to Adam and Eve." "LMAO! Nevertheless, you have thus provided me with a great example."

I have no idea why that would be funny, it is merely a fact. Language has been around since the first man, Adam. Same thing with clothing. Nothing funny about it.

The Sumerians and Babylonians would have had a story about Adam. That proves my point about the truth being filtered throughout history. Adam was a real man, so ofcourse a perverted version of his story would not be shocking to find in pagans cultures. Makes perfect sense. Fits in with the many flood stories.

It is like the game telephone. Start out with the correct message. Over time it is corrupted and changed. Christianity is the correct message, paganism is the corrupted version.

Darwin was a fool, and evolution is a joke. It just is. Natural selection and mutations do not create new information. Humans have always been humans. Dogs wont become cats and cats can't change into lizards. Natural selection is about a rearranging of info already present, usually a result in loss of info. Never a gain. People confuse evolution and natural selection.

"I am claiming that Africans did so as well. Your sources, almost all from white males in cherished tenured positions at often notoriously intellectually fascist universities, are at least as biased as my own."

Funny, because those universities are usually liberal, and liberals kiss black ass.

Anonymous said...

"And Africa was MUCH better off before whites and all their 'great' inventions came along ANYWAY!"

LOL I guess that all depends on how you define "better off".

Before they came into sustained contact with foreigners, no sub-saharan black African society had a written language or a calendar. None used the wheel or practiced joinery or built multi-story buildings. Iron smelting was common but no black Africans built what could be called a mechanical device, even one so simple as a hinge. Africans apparently tamed no animals themselves but received already-domesticated dogs and cattle from north of the Sahara. None used any beast of burden, despite the presence of large mammals that could have been tamed.

Although African societies are today described as having rich oral histories, this was by no means universal. A few tribes did have men who could recite the histories of their kings, but many were completely ignorant of the past. The Ovaherero tribe, for example, kept no count of years at all.

Slavery and polygamy were widespread. Arbitrary execution of subjects by rulers or wives by husbands was common. A few tribes ate human flesh though even some of their own members seem to have rejected this custom.

Hilarity said...

Anon@1:05-
And if there was no oral history kept, no records of written languages (we will never know what was in the library at Alexandria, or in many other places ravaged by war and conquest from any race, especially if we are not looking for it because of an assumption that it did not exist), I ask you how you can claim to know these things? How can you claim to know, with absolute certainty, that there will never be a site excavated that contains evidence of all the things you claim are absent. Absence of evidence is NOT evidence of absence.

Either way, the paragraph that begins "Before they came into sustained contact with foreigners" sounds like a description of paradise. It sounds oddly similar to Eden. Ironically. No multi-story buildings would result in far less over-crowding and pollution. It seems they largely left the animals to themselves to live their lives as they saw fit, as god saw fit to make them, complete with fear of death.

Slavery and polygamy, and "arbitrary execution of subjects" have been widespread on every portion of the globe in one form or another, it seems that to live on earth you have to take the good with the bad, even in paradise. In fact, isn't the US engaged in arbitrary execution of Iraqis even now? They merely call it war and somehow it is different even though the result is the same, and even worse in many cases. And concerning the consumption of human flesh, this is a practice that occurs everywhere, to this day. Jeffery Dahmer was made famous because of it. Many Russian people have been caught and prosecuted, often executed for it. The French, the British, the Americans, all cultures have examples of those who have consume the flesh of another. When it occurs in Africa however it is viewed as sign that we are savages.

It is not only unfair to judge one culture based on whether or not they have done the same pointless activities as another, it is meaningless.

I have nothing to say about your faith CWN, it is yours and you own up to it well.

Please tell me why you ignored the portion concerning Jesus. Do you think he was wrong?

LOL I have not claimed there will never be a site excavated that contains evidence of all these things. Perhaps there MAY one day be such an excavation. There MAY also one day be proof that Elvis and JFK were identical twins. But until then, I'll continue to find it highly unlikely.

You have in essence. Think about it. Think about everything you've said. That is the very obvious implication of your position.

Either way, there is no point in trying to pretend I'm having any kind of discussion with you particular anonymous folks any longer.

You have no interest in truth, just in your own bigotry and promotion of your fallacious 'cause'. Nearly every single comment I've made has been met with a direct insult towards me or my heritage. The fact that you don't use a particular slur is meaningless since you have found nearly every conceivable way around it and are deluding yourselves if you think otherwise, the intention is the same and it has failed miserably. I am no less proud of my heritage now than when I started here, and all you've done is, for the most part, proven yourselves to be STUCK.

"I ask you how you can claim to know these things? How can you claim to know, with absolute certainty, that there will never be a site excavated that contains evidence of all the things you claim are absent. Absence of evidence is NOT evidence of absence."

Hey bro. Since you are a master of logic, why are you not aware that the burden of proof lies on the person who claims that something exists? No one can prove that something does or does not exist outside their perception because no one has unlimited perception. A master logician such as yourself ought easily to be able to see that if such a method (claiming that "you can't prove it doesn't exist")were considered a logical method of proof, then number of mutually contradictory 'truths' would instantly multiply to infinity. It's logical to believe things that are supported by evidence. It is the height of idiocy to believe that which you wish were true based solely on the claim that someday the evidence might be discovered.

"You have in essence. Think about it. Think about everything you've said. That is the very obvious implication of your position."

I have realized that it is futile to try to explain to blacks what is and is not a logical conclusion. Even with the best of intentions on both sides, it is a Sisyphean effort. It is no accident that Western civilization mastered technology in ways beyond what others could even have dreamed. That's because logic is whitey's magic.

You still don't get it. I don't have a cause, and unlike you, I have nothing to prove. But I do hate the fact that it's considered "racist hate speech" to openly and honestly state my own personal observations when it comes to the behavioral patterns of black people. That's why I like this blog, because it's a sanctuary from the real world where virtually everybody notices bad black behavior, but dares not mention it.

I understand why it angers you, because you don't like being lumped in with the masses. I don't blame you. I also don't question that you're a bright guy. (And for the record, Desiree isn't stupid, but her IQ is significantly lower than yours.) But that's the part I find confusing. Surely, you can't possibly believe that by posting lengthy rants and lists of websites you're going to change anyone's opinions of what they've spent their entire life witnessing?? So then why bother?

Hilarity said...

Note the absurd comparison, and how it is designed to minimize the significance of the admission. Reduce, undermine, destroy. The agenda is obvious, I have no need to speculate. My question is why bother pretending?

Wouldn't you feel more comfortable if you put on a white sheet and burned a cross on my lawn all the while screaming bible quotes at me and chomping at the bit, drooling in anticipation of the good ol' fashioned lynching that you hope will occur after I come out and throw a brick at you and you run and tell the sheriff you were just walking down the road minding your own business when all of a sudden...?

That is exactly the nature of the majority of comments I have seen coming from Anonymous at this site.

Hmm. I would say that your implication smacks of the strawman fallacy, even though you did not make an actual statement. But not to worry, you very deftly segued to the ad hominem, a pernicious variety of the non sequitur. Well done. Hilarity for the Fail!

Go troll youtube.com, you're adding nothing to the discussion and just making us look like stupid bigots who can't be bothered to have meaningful discussions on our opinions because we'd rather malign our opposition with petty and wholly inaccurate mockery. Plus, you're making it much more obvious exactly which portions of Hilarity's posts inspire the most fear in our hearts and minds, what to speak of our own fears that weren't mentioned. Besides, I believe he said he doesn't even eat chicken somewhere, because he was a lifelong vegetarian or something. So you're really not helping to make us look less like brick-headed bigots who don't bother to read anything that challenges our smug sense of superiority. If we want to be taken seriously in today's world we can't afford to have mush-brained numb-nuts such as yourself discrediting us before we even open our mouths. It is a shame that this is the majority of our output on the subject. Perhaps we need to reevaluate our position, as I am beginning to see more and more of what I thought were 'black' qualities evidenced in my white brothers, and this is shaking my faith in the cause, because I originally thought I was pursuing truth, but recent events have made me question that notion. I am currently grappling with the possibility that we may indeed be pursuing nothing more than ignorance.

Hilarity Soils His Trousers said...

@Anon 11:49
Put a tampon in it. The first day's always the roughest. Now, what were you babbling about? A meaningful discussion? Oh yeah, now I remember all those reasonable blacks and high yellows who after attacking whites for having the temerity to think for themselves, suddenly responded favorably to evidence and logic, and agreed to face facts. That did happen, right?

What, did this prick your tender little idealism? That's sweet. If you derectify your upper body one day, you'll see that there is an unbridgeable gap. Nonwhites want what whites have created. Whites in the main don't want nonwhites to take or destroy what they've created. This is complicated by the fact that a small percentage of traitorous elites among the whites can't resist the desire to utilize the nonwhites as a servant class. The nonwhites are right from their point of view, and likewise the whites. To live is to struggle. There will be no consensus. Conflict only ends with extinction. Pretending otherwise doesn't preclude its being true. As soon as you shake off the brainwashing and educate yourself about history (I suggest Spengler if your IQ is above 125), you will get an inkling of where this must be headed.

You are deluded if you think scorn and derision are not very effective political tools. But your self-admitted fears are yours alone. What are you afraid of? That you'll be called RAYCISS!!!? I have news for you, partner: you'll be called that and much more unless you capitulate. But you are the best judge of what you are. I suspect you are just trying to project your weakness onto others. Those who are not brave make a virtue of passivity.

If you don't have the balls for 'the cause' then leave it, because a timorous, womanish spirit is far less than worthless. Our culture has become snake-fascinated by the idiotic, patently false claims of "democracy" and "equality". We are not equal, and people don't deserve the right, simply by virtue of existing, to vote themselves the property of others. You need to wake up and face the world as it is, not as your fear leads you to wish it were. Or keep deluding yourself that you cravenness is really kindness or just a desire for a meaningful discussion that will lead to amity, and that others are as much fooled as you have fooled yourself and don't see it as the cowardice that it really is.

Is that mush-brained and numb-nutted enough?

Anon 11:49 said...

"Is that mush-brained and numb-nutted enough?"

Even more than I expected! Not only do you lack utterly the subtlety of perception to realize that I am not white, you have also revealed in your vitriolic rant a concise example of the extent to which you are divided amongst yourselves!

You also managed to reveal your own ignorance in a number of ways too multitudinous to delve into here, though one example will suffice: Oswald Spengler? Is that really who you just suggested I read? The very same Oswald Spengler who disregarded notions of biological race? The same Oswald Spengler who realized that whites were just a misstep away from being overthrown by people of color? The same Oswald Spengler whose books were banned by the Nazis due to his criticism of antisemitism and public opposition of white supremacist biological ideology? The Oswald Spengler, a cultural relativist, who regarded all cultures as being in permanent states of transformation and flux? The very same Oswald Spengler who said: "What if, one day, class war and race war joined forces to make an end of the white world?... when the white proletariat breaks loose in the United States, the Negro will be on the spot, and behind him Indians and Japanese will await their hour...the work goes forward of itself"? The very same Oswald Spengler who said, and I quote, with much emphasis: "But in speaking of race, it is not intended in the sense in which it is the fashion among anti-Semites in Europe and America use it today: Darwinistically, materially. Race purity is a grotesque word in view of the fact that for centuries all stocks and species have been mixed, and that warlike - that is, healthy - generations with a future before them have from time immemorial always welcomed a stranger into the family if he had "race", to whatever race it was he belonged. Those who talk too much about race no longer have it in them. What is needed is not a pure race, but a strong one, which has a nation within it." -from The Hour of Decision (p. 219)

Is that the Spengler you were referring to?

Hilarity Soils His Trousers said...

I took you at your word when you referred to yourself and me as "us" and referred to "our position". If you now say those are lies, it makes no difference to me. Misrepresent yourself as you like. Why should I care to try to dissect your duplicity. Either way it makes no difference to my position.

"The same Oswald Spengler who realized that whites were just a misstep away from being overthrown by people of color?"

Neither you nor anyone else can see what lies in the future, therefore you can't say that this is a true statement, and hence you cannot fairly characterize Spengler or anyone else as having "realized" it. If you want to prove you can read the future, tell us what Friday's Megamillions will be. Put up or shut up.

"The very same Oswald Spengler who said: "What if, one day, class war and race war joined forces to make an end of the white world?... when the white proletariat breaks loose in the United States, the Negro will be on the spot, and behind him Indians and Japanese will await their hour...the work goes forward of itself"?"

What's your point? He asked what if, and I'm preparing for what if. Bring it on.

"Race purity is a grotesque word in view of the fact that for centuries all stocks and species have been mixed, and that warlike - that is, healthy - generations with a future before them have from time immemorial always welcomed a stranger into the family if he had "race", to whatever race it was he belonged. Those who talk too much about race no longer have it in them."

Care to quote where I said anything about racial purity? Want to find the quote where Spengler said something about blacks mixing with whites?

"What is needed is not a pure race, but a strong one, which has a nation within it."

Show us the strong black nation that is not a dung heap.

"Is that the Spengler you were referring to?"

Yeah, that's the Spengler I referenced. The one who thought that Western civilization was within two or three centuries of ending. He's the one who said,

"Faced as we are with this destiny, there is only one world-outlook that is worthy of us, that which has already been mentioned as the Choice of Achilles – better a short life, full of deeds and glory, than a long life without content. Already the danger is so great, for every individual, every class, every nation, that to cherish any illusion whatever is deplorable. The march of time cannot be halted; there is no question of prudent retreat or clever renunciation. Only dreamers believe there is a way out. Optimism is cowardice.

We are born into this time and must bravely follow the path to the destined end. There is no other way. Our duty is to hold on to the lost position, without hope, without rescue, like that Roman soldier whose bones were found in front of a door in Pompeii, who died at his post during the eruption of Vesuvius because someone forgot to relieve him. That is greatness. That is what it means to be a thoroughbred. The honorable end is the one that can not be taken from a man."

You must have thought I meant the Spengler who recommended lying down and taking it like a pussy. If it must be Ragnarok, I will die with boots on.

If you think that when Spengler used the term "colored" that he was referring to negroes, you are far wide of the mark. If Western civilization falls, which sooner or later likely must happen, there is nothing to say that the next great civilization won't be white. I would not lay odds on its being black.

I ran out of space. Now, you said you had many, numerous, prolific, multitudinous examples of my ignorance, followed by:

"Oswald Spengler? ...? ...? ...? ...? ...

in a number of oh-so-dramatic permutations. But you know what? I think you made a an actual statement in all that. So where is the one sufficient example of my ignorance that makes the other multitudinous examples superfluous? I know you'd rather slither away behind a verbal cloud of sepic innuendo, but inquiring minds want to know. Examples must be in the form of declarative, provable sentences.

Anon 11:49 said...

"Jeepers! Did you figure that out all by yourself?"

Yes. I also figured out that since there is very little in the way of true unity among any of the 'races' that 'race', as you seem to see it, will have very little bearing on the form of the future. This is apparent. All you have to do is look out over the mixed crowds of protesters and rising revolutionaries eager to tear down the farce of western civilization to realize this.

"I took you at your word when you referred to yourself and me as "us" and referred to "our position". If you now say those are lies, it makes no difference to me. Misrepresent yourself as you like. Why should I care to try to dissect your duplicity."

When you did it, it was an 'effective political tool' and when I did it I was being a duplicitous liar, and misrepresenting myself. Typical. Still, I think my version was more effective. It even unintentionally fooled you.

"Neither you nor anyone else can see what lies in the future, therefore you can't say that this is a true statement"

Oh, and these statements aren't doing just that: "there is an unbridgeable gap" or "There will be no consensus. Conflict only ends with extinction"? Not to mention the underlying assumption that Africans, who have only very, very recently been given 'legal' status as anything less than 2nd and 3rd class citizens in this also very new western world, cannot and will not overtake it and improve it. I'm not saying that I think that will happen, or even that I want it to happen (I don't). But you assume that it cannot happen. That is nothing more than faith-based prophecy. You were the one who suggested Spengler.

"Care to quote where I said anything about racial purity?"

You didn't. I posted that portion in reference to where you said "We are not equal." I posted that in order to highlight the specious nature of your usage of the signifier "we". Also, for the final portion of the passage, "Those who talk too much about race no longer have it in them."

"Want to find the quote where Spengler said something about blacks mixing with whites?"

I'm entirely unconcerned with what this dead man thinks about that. Just because I quote him back to you does not mean that I am at all influenced by his ideas. You cannot stop what is already well under way. You have dead southern slave owners to thank, in part, for contributing to this process.

"Show us the strong black nation that is not a dung heap."

The Nation of Gods and Earths, for one. Any further attempt to clarify might fall on deaf ears, as you have obviously decided to perceive things in a certain manner already, thus ending most if not all true thought on the matter. The truth is that what you're looking for is burgeoning all around you. It just doesn't need to characterize itself as exclusively "black". I think you missed the point there, as it seems to me that Spengler was implying that a 'nation' existed unborn within his as yet undiscovered strong 'race'. Still, to confine this idea to your scope, Ghana is strong, and growing. Nigeria is strong, and growing. Botswana is strong, and growing. Uganda is strong, and growing. South Africa is strong, and growing. None of those places are 'dung heaps'. I was born in Lagos. They have their problems, but all places have their problems. Even if you insist that black people are chief among those problems, would you also neglect to observe that a problem is a threat? The US military and NATO don't.

Many African countries have been destabilized by foreign interests and influence, just as many here complain that your own countries are being destabilized by 'alien' influence. That is not to say that white people are to blame, but to say that indiscretions on the behalf of both some prominent self-interested African 'leaders' and many western interest groups have successfully torn Her to shreds.

"You must have thought I meant the Spengler who recommended lying down and taking it like a pussy."

No. I thought the choices of quotes indicated that I didn't.

"If it must be Ragnarok, I will die with boots on."

And if it must be race war then I will solemnly deliver those who attack me to their gods. Or maybe, since we Africans are supposed to be so naturally disposed towards violent behavior, I will do it with great glee. However, Spengler's fascist statement concerning optimism has not diminished my own, nor has my own optimism diminished my pessimism, nor have either of these diminished my awareness, and my awareness has greatly enhanced my resolve, and my resolve renders me unperplexed.

"If Western civilization falls, which sooner or later likely must happen, there is nothing to say that the next great civilization won't be white."

There is nothing to say it will.

Doubtless you will disagree, but that makes no difference. These are my opinions.

"Put a tampon in it."

Lack of understanding of gender issues. Assumption that I will be bothered by this statement. Assumption that scorn and derision are useful weapons that can have any effect on those who are resolved.

"Nonwhites want what whites have created."

A lack of understanding of the true apocalyptic motivation of modern revolutionaries. A lack of understanding of the well-tested effects of advertisement and propaganda, historically practiced most by whites, on other whites and non-whites alike. Should have stated 'non-whites and whites have been hypnotized into thinking that they want..." etc.

"This is complicated by the fact that a small percentage of traitorous elites among the whites can't resist the desire to utilize the nonwhites as a servant class."

A gross and total misunderstanding of the current plutocracy in effect. These 'traitorous' elite will use your flesh and mass to serve them just as swiftly and with the same level of disreagrd.

"Conflict only ends with extinction."

Conflict usually 'ends' with synthesis. Conflict demands synthesis.

"I suggest Spengler if your IQ is above 125"

Reliance on outdated modes of classification, perhaps clinging to those modes because they make you feel better about yourself.

"Those who are not brave make a virtue of passivity."

Incorrect identification of peaceful aspirations as mere 'passivity'. Commonly expressed as 'mistaking kindness for weakness'. You forget those who "walk softly but carry a big stick." Peacefulness is not cowardice.

"a timorous, womanish spirit is far less than worthless"

Again, with the denigration of women. Pure ignorance. Many women have more resolve than the strongest among men.

"patently false claims of "democracy" and "equality". We are not equal, and people don't deserve the right, simply by virtue of existing, to vote themselves the property of others."

Equality as delineated by whose standards? Relative equality or absolute equality? You pretend to know the future? The past? Every aspect of the present? I won't even bother with the numerous assumptions apparent in your characterization of voting and democracy.

"You need to wake up and face the world as it is, not as your fear leads you to wish it were."

You presume to know the world as it is yet seem to have no understanding of the 'is of identity'. I would recommend reading Korzybski.

"...others are as much fooled as you have fooled yourself and don't see it as the cowardice that it really is."

Again, you presume to know the minds of others, and the nature of the universe. Your language seems fraught with numerous apparently unexamined assumptions, so it is no wonder that you are bewildered by the world. And bewildered you are, hence your rage, and reliance on "scorn and derision" as "very effective political tools."

Shall I continue?

I'd rather not. I'm not particularly interested in character assassination as a "very effective political tool." Besides, I'm fairly sure that what I've pointed out might as well have been the thoughts of a mute stranded alone in the ocean during a tumultuous storm.

We are all culpable. There is no definitive, undisputed evidence anywhere that states that any race is any more superior to any other than night is to day. We must all take responsibility for our positions here on earth and we must all recognize the inevitable relative differences between us and our cultures. We must also recognize that we do not know the original causal source nor do we know the ultimate outcome of all events and therefore we must remain aware of what we are, that being temporarily living human beings with temporary opinions.

""Show us the strong black nation that is not a dung heap."

The Nation of Gods and Earths, for one."

No, that would be the Nation of Gods and Earths for ZERO.

"Ghana is strong, and growing. Nigeria is strong, and growing. Botswana is strong, and growing. Uganda is strong, and growing. South Africa is strong, and growing. None of those places are 'dung heaps'."

Well, then obviously our definitions of 'dung heap' differ radically. And "strong" compared to what? "And growing"? That kind of reminds me of when sardonic Brazilians say, "Brazil is the country of the future - and it always will be." However, my impression is that you are earnest in these professions. Who knows? We know that your subtlety is most profound.

Poor and backward as they are, African nations have come to regard handouts from the West as a right, and routinely demand them. Left to their own devices, what would they do for cars, electronics, tools, medicine? Without endless charity, Africa would be far more hellish than it already is. Don't try to con me, my friend. People vote with their feet. How many hundreds of millions strive to leave the nonwhite lands to settle in white lands, often risking everything, even their very lives?

But if you would indulge me a bit, I am curious about something. We have established a rule that blacks have an exclusive right to control their traditional lands and expel anyone they like. Should any European peoples have such a right? Should such a thing as exclusive white control be allowed anywhere in the world? If so, where?

And your intimations regarding the mixing of races are no surprise. Of course the group that will benefit wants to mix. But what about the group that loses out? How should we expect them to feel?

This has been stimulating, and I say sincerely that your intelligence is impressive (certainly moreso than your candor), but unless you can tell me in a forthright manner why whites should not seek to protect their homelands and preserve their culture, and protect their race (which is nothing more than an extended family) I can't spare any more time for these exchanges full of high-flown rhetoric where no questions get answered. I know what you feel and why you feel it, there is just no reason for me to agree with you.

"Brazil is the country of the future - and it always will be."

That should have been the tag-line for Gilliam's Brazil. Although "It's only a state of mind" was also very effective. The Zulu could have instructed us on this matter.

Speaking of the Zulu ("here they come, thick as grass and black as thunder"), they are the perfect example to illustrate an underlying them in my comments. Contrary to 'popular' thought on the subject (if there is such a thing) the Zulu fell chiefly due to internal conflicts and preexisting inter-tribal warfare; to be sure, the Zulu were incredibly outgunned when faced with the professional riflemen of the British forces, who were brave nonetheless. Yet they repelled those forces on numerous occasions by manpower and willpower alone. This phrase - "They used guns while we angrily shot arrows" can also serve to inform the attentive reader of the amount of spirit possessed by many nations that have been conquered by 'superior' weaponry.

"No, that would be the Nation of Gods and Earths for ZERO."

You must not KNOW. Culture Power. Otherwise you wouldn't have answered with ZERO. Knowledge plus Knowledge is Wisdom, and through Wisdom Freedom is Born. Cipher complete.

I will work backwards, approaching from the end forward. First, I do not require you to agree with me.

Concerning whites and their homelands, I say this with all sincerity, yes, they had that right. It seems, however, that they (more specifically, the leaders of their various nations) revoked it themselves when they began invading others homelands and extracting the resources needed to create this modern era. Since so much of the gold that propelled their economies and the minerals that allowed for their technology to grow were mined from other lands, then it is only natural that many people from those lands, now plagued by the greed of a few, including both the less principled among them and whites, would seek to escape from what their homelands have been temporarily reduced to. Many in Africa and other indigenous lands mourn the loss of some of their brightest to the west.

If whites were to withdraw from all non-native lands, such as the Americas, India, Africa, Australia, Asia, then yes, I would say that they had every right to protect their homelands and preserve their culture. however, we both know this most likely will not occur. My chief interest is in finding the best way to navigate the world we have inherited from our forebears.

Concerning mixing races, I didn't say that this was something I wanted, merely that it has begun and probably cannot be stopped at this point. My current network of friends includes people naturally born in no less than 30 distinct nations, if not more (it's not something I normally count, but tonight's conversation made me consider it). This includes males and females. It would be hard to stop members of the opposite sex from finding one another attractive at most social gatherings. It's not that I have some explicit desire for everyone to merge into one homogeneous race, it is simply that I have no explicit desire to repress what occurs naturally. Who benefits in what way is wholly up to the individuals who engage in such things, and hardly up to those who do not.

This rule that blacks have an exclusive right to control their nations and expel whoever they wish is news to me.

I already addressed your statement that "people vote with their feet," etc., but I would like to mention that many Africans STILL do not consider their cultures backward. This is true of many other nations as well. Including many Europeans who do indeed have practices that many indigenous tribes would consider barbaric. However, we do live in strange and interesting times, and as such, strange and interesting things will occur that might leave us confused as it becomes increasingly more difficult to keep track of the frequency with which information is doubling and new forms of thought are developing and old ones mutating. But enough high-flown rhetoric...

Yes, our definitions of 'dung heap' do differ radically. A dung heap is a pile of manure. A nation, or a city, is just that. The nations I mentioned are strong in comparison to themselves; growing, compared to themselves. What else can it benefit us to compare ourselves with other than ourselves? Perhaps our gods, but no more...
