Brawl in Miami Mall: It Makes Sense When you Wear Black Goggles

Think of the world as it appears when you’re intoxicated. A heightened sense of invincibility overtakes your normal emotions and demeanor, superseding rationality and civility. You slur your speech in an almost unintelligible dialect, with all inhibitions vanishing as your voice becomes louder and increasingly obnoxious; you think every joke you tell is incredibly funny, while conversely, any insult hurled your way is grounds for violence and retaliation; you approach every woman in sight and proceed to make an advance on her, instinctively knowing all females are completely into you, even if you’re spurned; and best of all your testosterone levels are off the charts, loosening your tongue because you’re the baddest man on the planet and no one at the bar can touch you if a fight broke --you’d break’em in half.

The consequences of your actions while inebriated matter not, because the law is immaterial to you. Concepts of privacy, property rights and decorum governing socially acceptable behavior are alien to you, and vaguely offensive.

In this state you represent the epitome of a belligerent individual, completely devoid of decency and incapable of logical actions all because of the ravages alcohol induces upon the mind.

This thought experiment allowed you a window into the mind of the typical Black male, before the provocations alcohol provides upon the normal mental functions for other racial groups.

Whether it is 70 people rioting in a Washington DC Metro Station: hundreds rioting at a Mall in late December 2009 in Connecticut; Flash mobs in Philadelphia; Kansas City’s downtown shopping complex being overrun in violence; Indianapolis problems; Tulsa’s famous Chicken Hut under siege by hungry customers unconcerned with the immaterial dying body impeding their path to fowl glory; nightclub violence and block parties collapsing into chaos; a Hurricane named Katrina; or, a brawl at a Miami mall involving more than a score of people, the common denominator linking all events is the racial makeup of the participants.

All were Black and all of these events transpired within the last year (or just celebrated birthday number five!), with the brawl in Miami happening right before Katrina’s fifth birthday:

Police and management at Aventura Mall plan to meet next week to discuss the melee at the mall that left about a dozen young people arrested and several police officers receiving minor injuries.

The melee erupted around 10 p.m. Saturday when mostly teenagers descended on the mall for the opening of two popular movies at the AMC 24 Theaters, Lottery Ticket and Takers.

It ended with the arrest of 12 minors, all between the ages of 14 and 17, according to Aventura police.

Dozens of police officers from other departments rushed to help, including North Miami Beach, Golden Beach, Sunny Isles Beach and Miami-Dade.

Officers used Taser guns on several suspects. No one was seriously hurt in the fight or the rush to the exits, though some officers received minor injuries while trying to make arrests, said Aventura police spokesman Chris Goranitis.

At least three suspects were arrested on felony charges -- battery on a police officer and resisting arrest with violence.

Most of the minors were released to their parents. Those charged with felonies were taken to a Juvenile Assessment Center.

The scene was chaotic: As the fighting spread, several hundred people, many of them screaming, fled the theater at once, running from the concession stand area and knocking over the rope barriers by the exits.

Police directed the crowd outside the theater to exit the building, but initially did not let anyone leave the area by the parking lot outside the mall.

While police have not said what caused the fight, WPLG Channel 10 interviewed witnesses who said that it may have been sparked by two rival high school groups.

A group of noisy teens had gathered to buy tickets to two movies opening Saturday. The line leading to the AMC 24 Theaters stretched from the box office to the nearby mall entrance. A fight soon broke out between two youths near the box office, spiraling quickly into a mass brawl that spread to the theater, across the mall and to the parking lots.

Luis Chiu, 17, a 12-grader at North Miami Senior High said a fight erupted during the movie Lottery Ticket and mall security evacuated an entire aisle of the theater.

``Then the fight continued outside, so the cops took over. It wasn't pretty,'' he said.

Niouseline St. Jean, 19, of Miami, was part of the crowd that was kept outside the mall, near the Cheesecake Factory, for about 30 minutes. ``All these middle and high school kids were fighting,'' she wrote at the time in a text message. ``Everything is on lockdown.''

This is not the first time crowd control has gotten out of hand at the AMC in the Aventura Mall.

In January 2005, an off-duty Aventura officer, trying to remove a group of kids he said were causing trouble, said he was jumped by other teens. By the time it was over, police had used Taser stun guns against four youths.

Nine juveniles and two adults were arrested.

Aventura already had a robust police and security presence at the mall.

``Aventura Mall has a comprehensive security program in place, which includes off-duty Aventura Police Department officers and a sophisticated CCTV system,'' Aventura Mall general manager Oscar Pacheco said in a statement. ``We will continue working with the police and AMC Theaters regarding the incident.''

Aventura police maintains a nine-officer unit on the property, mostly funded by Turnberry Associates, the company that runs the mall.

On Sunday, the Aventura Mall was crowded as usual, though some said they were worried about security near the theater. ``Security is an issue there and it's going to drive people away,'' said Amy Scharf, 37, of Aventura.

Seth Kaplan, 42, also from Aventura, agreed.

``I usually avoid the mall at nights,'' he said. ``I do think that these fighting issues are going to cause other people to stop going to the movies, but I was already concerned before this. The movies are dangerous in the evening.''

Other frequent mall shoppers were not as concerned. ``I'm still going to go to Aventura Mall,'' said Lauren Ovadia, 17, of Davie. ``There is going to be fights everywhere. Things happen.''

Mauricio Diocis, 20, of Aventura, said that while he was concerned about the incident, he still thinks the mall is best option in the area. ``When I heard about the fights it was really surprising, because Aventura is such a nice place,'' he said.

When you think of the world as it appears when you are inebriated, you’re granted a window, access to the world as it appears to Black people. It has been said that drinking gives one “beer goggles” – those imaginary, yet tragic frames that magically makes all girls beautiful and desirable.

In reality, drinking alcohol to the point of intoxication gives one “Black goggles” because you will immediately be granted insight into the Black mind and an opportunity to “act a fool” engaging in behavior commonly associated with normal Black behavior.

Which leads us to a teaser of an upcoming entry at SBPDL: curfews.

As the nation becomes increasingly non-white, it will become imperative for cities and towns to institute curfews (potentially state-mandated curfews) to maintain order and provide safety for civilians.

Curfews, brawls at Miami malls, Act a fool and Black people: just put on those “Black goggles” via drinking insane amounts of booze and you’ll enter the mind of Black person.

It all makes sense when you understand that simple fact.

#294. Peaceful 'Screen on the Green' Events

Black people are correct to call Atlanta the Black capital of America. Where else could a memo be leaked that called for Black people to unite together to keep a white women from becoming mayor of their city?

Some call Detroit the Black capital of America, a city which offers a glimpse into the strength and vitality of Black entrepreneurship and leadership, and acts as a microcosm for what the future holds for all major cities that lose any sense of racial diversity and become completely Black.

Atlanta. The home of Freaknic, Clayton County, Dekalb County (don't worry, this entry is coming), Georgia Tech students, near empty high-rise condo buildings and the largest concentration of homosexuals in the world is the true capital of Black America.

Though Atlanta is becoming increasingly white, the Black population of the city still sports a slight edge in maintaining racial hegemony and recently showcased that power in Piedmont Park during a showing of Transformers 2 at the recently returning 'Screen on the Green':

Mayor Kasim Reed said police and parks officials will conduct a comprehensive review of security protocols in wake of the melee that interrupted Thursday night's "Screen on the Green" at Piedmont Park.

Reed vowed the city will take "extraordinary steps to make sure that the security strategy for this event is adequate and fully-enforced."

In the meantime sponsors of the long-running summer film series have decided to postpone next Thursday's feature by one week, Peachtree TV said in a statement released Friday afternoon.

Sponsors Peachtree TV, City of Atlanta and the Piedmont Park Conservancy are "committed to continuing this summer tradition in the city's landmark park, and are working together to ensure that it remains a safe and fun family event," the statement said.

It was anything but that Thursday night, according to witnesses who said groups of marauding teens took over the event.

At a late-morning press conference, interim Police Chief George Turner said that the city requires that all special event organizers have a security plan in place that specifies the number of "personnel required for the event based on the information that is supplied in the application."

"While the Atlanta Police Department works in partnership with the event organizers and the Mayor’s Office of Special Events, the security personnel are responsible for ensuring the city-approved plan is followed," Turner said.

But, he said that in the future on-duty Atlanta officers will monitor the event.

That might be counter-productive, concert promoter Alex Cooley told the AJC.

"Nothing against the police, but when you have a uniform navigating through a crowd of people that can cause problems," said Cooley, who promoted the Midtown Music Festival.

Cooley, who's promoted events and concerts at home and abroad, said Atlanta's security policy is routine.

"I've been doing large-scale events for 35 years and that's how it's always been," he said. Typically the promoter will contract with a private security force that provides "T-shirt security," Cooley said. "They marshal a force and try to diffuse the situation. If that doesn't work, they go to the off-duty cops who are usually stationed around the perimeter of the grounds.

"Maybe I've been lucky, but I've never experienced any major problems with security."

But some witnesses at Thursday's screening of "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" said security was inadequate.

Ron Sweatland wrote the AJC in an early morning e-mail Friday that about 15 minutes into the movie, "everyone's attention was diverted to the back end of the event where a group fight was taking place.

"There seemed to be no police presence and after about 10 minutes of this brawl it broke up with a group of people running into the dark," Sweatland wrote.

Turner said approximately 10,000 people were in the park, with 23 off-duty officers providing security.

After the fracas – Turner said it started with girls fighting, followed by a group of boys scuffling – the movie was stopped and off-duty officers “dumped” the park.

“Then we got a call from off-duty and we responded with the blue lights,” Turner said, adding that one person has been arrested for an unrelated incident. The chief said there was no evidence of gunfire at the event, as some had reported.

Police continue to look for suspects. An incident report was not available when requested Friday afternoon from Atlanta Police.

Turner said the movie drew a larger crowd than anticipated.

“They had a young – if you will – movie,” Turner said. “And they had more people than they anticipated. It was a lot younger crowd.”

One movie-goer said free chicken sandwiches may had contributed to the brawl.

"It was an absolute mob scene, from the Chick-fil-A girls getting mobbed trying to hand out free sandwiches to the complete lack of respect for the people watching the movie," said Marc Freund.

"After enduring the first 30 minutes of the movie with people walking around and screaming, we decided to leave," Freund told the AJC.

Midtown resident Jeff Keesee said there were "gangs of kids roaming the aisles, doing stunts to get crowd reactions. People just standing around talking, yelling -- disrespect, rudeness, unruliness -- a total disaster."

Sweatland wrote that as his group headed to their cars, he saw a group of "high school-aged kids" throwing rocks at passing vehicles. One of the rocks "completely shattered the back window" of one of the cars, he said.

He said many of the children in the crowd were "scared and crying."

"I can remember a time when Screen on the Green was great family fun and we always looked forward to going," he wrote. "I think this will be our last time going and our friends agree that they will no longer go either."

"Up until the drought, I never missed a Screen on the Green in Piedmont Park," Keesee told the AJC. "I was so excited it was allowed back in. After tonight's debacle, I will work tirelessly to have it shut down unless something is done to improve crowd control."

Keesee said he didn't see a single police officer as the situation got "completely out of control."

Josh Hice, 26, of Newnan, was driving by Piedmont Park Thursday night with a friend when he said he was attacked by a group of high school-age people.

"There was a car stopped in front of me and a car stopped behind me, and there was this crowd of about 30 high school kids parading down the street," said Hice, who was driving an open-top Jeep.

First, a girl came up and spat in his face, Hice said, then he was punched in the face by another teen.

"It split my lip, then they start climbing all over my Jeep, and I turn around and my buddy is getting punched in the face and has blood pouring out of his nose," Hice said. "It was ridiculous. We were definitely victims of a hate crime."

Traffic ahead of Hice finally moved "and I just peeled out of there. I peeled out even with one of the dudes still hanging on the back of the Jeep, and he just jumped off."

"I felt like I was in another country," Hice said.

Last September, the Black Gay Pride Parade at Piedmont Park unfortunately descended into chaos. Reports of chicken being behind that event disintegrating into violence are unsubstantiated.

It is a well known fact that Black people are incapable of being quiet during movies. Now, imagine an outdoor festival where Transformers 2 (a movie that Black people found offensive for having two stereotypical Black robot characters) is playing in the unofficial Black capital of America. What happened in early June 2010 is sadly what transpires routinely at events staged across the nation when Black people gather in large numbers, as scores of Black people engaged in behavior that brought ruination and disrepute to the 'Screen on the Green' reputation:

The June 10 Screen on the Green showing of "Dreamgirls" has been postponed due to last night's melee. The series will resume with "Dreamgirls" on June 17, according to Peachtree TV.

"The Piedmont Park Conservancy, Peachtree TV, the City of Atlanta and other sponsors are committed to continuing this summer tradition in the city's landmark park, and are working together to ensure that it remains a safe and fun family event," according to a statement on Peachtree TV's website.

The popular Screen on the Green series at Piedmont Park ended abruptly last after several fights broke out and there were unconfirmed reports of gunfire.

Worse, another pattern is becoming painfully discernible, for once again a form of cooked poultry serves to create disadvantageous situations for Black people and anyone unfortunate enough to be near a ruinously diminutive supply of fowl.

Just like Tulsa's Chicken Hut and when Popeyes ran out of its prized offering, chicken contributed to the breakup of the peaceful viewing of the film in Atlanta.

Perhaps this is why block parties in the Black community have a habit of breaking out into violence: the supply of chicken is finite.

Stuff Black People Don't Like will include peaceful 'Screen on the Green' events, as Black people lack the ability to endure such an activity when a movie is showing with the simultaneous nuisance of free chicken sandwiches running out.

Black people don't like being quiet during movies and Black people don't enjoy shortsighted suppliers of chicken, especially when this delicacy is free.

You can bet no one shushed a Black person at this 'Screen on the Green'.

Freaknic Back in Atlanta!

Atlanta. Home of the 1996 Olympics, Coca-Cola, Home Depot and nearly one of the first major cities to see Black people lose their vice on governmental power, is about to welcome back one of the finest indicators of the cultural vitality of Black America.

Freaknic. Yes. Freaknic is back, or Black Spring Break, returns to the fertile grounds of Atlanta, the resurrection of perhaps the ultimate statement of Black partying and puerile fun the nation will see in 2010:

Freaknik was an annual spring break meeting in Atlanta, Georgia, primarily of students from historically black colleges and universities.^[1] Begun in 1982 as a small picnic near the Atlanta University Center, it was initially sponsored by the DC Metro Club ^[1] and was typically held during the third weekend in April to coincide with the schools of the Atlanta University Center's Reading Day. The event increased in size and popularity in the 1990s with dancing, drinking, parties, a basketball tournament, rap sessions, a film festival and a job fair.^[2]

Atlantans' reception of the festival was mixed. In its heyday, the fest attracted upwards of 250,000 revelers to the city. Many residents attended and enjoyed Freaknik, and others complained about traffic congestion, lewd public behavior, open urination, noise, and trash due to street parties.^[3] City leaders eventually took measures to curtail Freaknik's accessibility, and hence its popularity. As a result, Freaknik moved to Memorial Drive in DeKalb County, then to Daytona Beach, Florida. By 1999, celebration of the festival had died down due to heightened police security.

‘Flash Mobs’ might be occurring in Kansas City and Philadelphia, but the weekend of April 16-18 offers the return of Freaknic to Atlanta, and a glimpse at arguably the wildest party in the nation.

The return of Freaknic will be an event for the ages, as the restoration of a source of pride for Black people is grounds for fervent celebration considering that in the waning days of the last millennium, marauding Black Spring Breakers had the red carpet moved from under their feet with Freaknic's sad demise and cancellation.

I remember Freaknik, everybody got out of town before hand, if not, you locked your doors and stayed inside. Too much looting, sex, and danger to venture outside. Thank God it’s gone!

The smell of cannabis is the norm during Freaknic, almost as ubiquitous as the uniformed police-officer. Black revelers adjourn briefly from the difficult courses taught at Historically Black Colleges and University’s (HBCUs) and party like a rock star amid the glistening skyscrapers of Atlanta, all while businesses shutter doors to stave off the threat of robberies.

It tells you something when the Black power culture of Atlanta in the 1990s deemed Freaknic counterproductive and a nuisance, thus working assiduously to deny Black Spring Breakers a city to party in.

Black people should have taken this as the ultimate affront, considering Atlanta has long been noted as the Black Mecca of America (a claim one recent study find fraudulent). Why would the Black-power base governing Atlanta find the influx of Black college students an unwanted admixture to the cities already combustible racial mix?

White people go on Spring Break to cities that dot the Florida gulf coast and are welcomed, thanks to significant boost in economic activity they bring during a fiscal quarter that needs augmenting.

Engaging in debauchery is a time-honored tradition of the college spring breaker. Kegs, girls, fun and a copious amount of sun offer a week-retreat from the indignity of studying long hours to eventual acquire certification to perform work that will be eventually outsourced to India or China anyways.

The difference between Freaknic and traditional spring breaks is that the latter is welcomed with open arms, knowing the economic impact will outweigh any problems that surface during drunken binges. The former… well, it was canceled for a reason. Now, it is being brought back by hook or by crook:

Barcelo said the event is going to be an alcohol-free picnic for college kids to socialize. But he’s also working with clubs to help host nighttime events that weekend as well.

“I want to make it clear, I’ve been working with people … I want to make this a legitimate thing for the city,” said Barcelo, an event promoter and manager of small businesses and restaurants in the city.

Atlanta Chamber of Commerce officials declined to comment Friday, referring an AJC reporter to the Atlanta Convention and Visitor's Bureau. No one from the ACVB was available for comment Friday afternoon.

Freaknik started in 1983 as a small picnic for college students who could not afford to go home during spring break. By the mid-1990s, more than 200,000 people, including many students from black colleges and universities from all over the country, were flocking to Atlanta. The massive street party caused traffic gridlock and was marred by incidents of women being taunted and groped.

Freaknik ended in 1999 after the city and police imposed major restrictions.

The AJC is attempting to contact the city for comment.

Meanwhile, Barcelo said the event is going to happen “with or without the city.”

As for the person behind the other website, Barcelo said he’s willing to work with him “if he goes through the proper channels.”

“He has drive, I respect that,” Barcelo said. “But I haven’t slept in three days. I’m completely wide-open on No-Doz and Starbucks.

Freaknic 2010 will not be a party for Black college students of schools trying desperately to keep accredited, sans alcohol. No, the only non-alcoholic party SBPDL went to in college was at Georgia Tech and happened to be thrown by Mormon’s.

Black people – who don’t like foreign beer – will imbibe abundantly and more than likely engage in similar behavior that caused Freaknic to get shutdown back in 1999.

‘Flash Mob’ or not, we at Stuff Black People Don’t Like believe the return of Freaknic will provide more

Remember, no Black Block Party has ever gone off swimmingly. Not even one over Easter.

That is all Freaknic has ever been, a city wide block party that once gave Atlanta a permanent Black-eye in the view of white people. Strange that a correlation would exist between the demise of Freaknic and the rise of the white population in the city:

Atlanta is the thirty-third largest city in the United States, with an estimated population of 537,958 in 2008, an increase by 28 percent from the 2000 census. Atlanta has seen dramatic demographic increase in its white population over the past several decades. According to the Brookings Institution, the proportion of whites in Atlanta’s population grew faster between 2000 and 2006 than that of any other U.S. city. Only Washington, D.C. experienced a comparable increase in the white population share during the 2000-2006 time periods. Atlanta went from being 51.3 percent black in 1970 to 67.1 percent black in 1990 to 61.4 percent black in 2000 to 55.8 percent black in 2008.

Freaknic. Just the word conjures up exotic, forbidden images of carnal delight. Having witnessed Freaknic in the past during its waning days as festivity of Blackness, SBPDL makes this bold prediction about Atlanta and the upcoming weekend of Freaknic.

Atlanta is the gayest city in America, a recent title usurped from San Francisco. Black people aren’t a fan of Gay Marriage, and worse, they don’t like cooperating with the police.

Shootings at Black night clubs in Atlanta are a nightly occurrence. Now, imagine the addition of 150,000+ Black people to the mix.

The Bling Mob is coming to Atlanta in a Flash, with the return of Freaknic. SBPDL predicts... chaos, just like one member of the Atlanta City Council does:

The website says the event will be held April 16-18 in Washington Park. The city says no permits have been issued for any public events in the park for those dates.

City Councilman Kwanza Hall tells WSB he doesn't think there's time.

"I think it's almost probably too late to try to pull something off because of the time frame of the applications that are due," said Hall.

"That move to try to go to black college spring break or weekend - it was a valiant attempt, but it needed a little bit more structure," said Hall.

With the economic times we're in, we should still consider all options.

"I thinks it's very challenging right now with all the public safety concerns that we've had, if any group were to bring something back that looks anywhere near like we saw in the last few years of Freaknik's existence," said Hall.

"My colleagues as well as myself and the mayor would not be hasty to support an initiative without very, very serious scrutiny," said Hall.

Freaknik dates back to 1983 when it was a small picnic for college students who could not afford to go home during spring break.

However, the event grew larger each year with tens of thousands of students descending on the city, cruising and causing major gridlock on highways and surface streets.

All you can do is laugh. One thing is for sure: Georgia Tech students better watch out.

#232. Compton Cookouts

In Black Run America (BRA), a not-so-secret desire by white kids is to emulate their Black overlords in dress, mannerisms, vernacular and style.

White kids in BRA have an intense desire to Act Black and find scant opposition from members of their own race when they mimic the nuisances and idiosyncrasies of Black people, whereas when Black people dare to Act White they betray their people and are forever excommunicated with no indulgences available to pay for this shameful sin.

Through the medium of popular culture, BRA has gained a footing in the whitest of whitopia's and Black culture now permeates in suburban schools devoid of Black people yet full of white people attempting to ape the mores their favorite sports stars, gangsta rappers and film heroes.

Constantly bombarded with images of Black people excelling at the most insignificant and inane activities leaves white kids psychological denuded and incapable of rationalizing a world where sports were devoid of the flash of Chad Ocho Cinco or any of the National Basketball Association (NBA) stars.

In a world turned upside down by the efforts of Disingenuous White Liberals (DWLs) to label anything with more than one white participant inherently racist, all white people are forced to walk atop egg shells and guard their speech lest they be suspected of harboring views that are contrary to the ruling orthodoxy of BRA.

Thus another reason white people have given up and resorted to displaying tendencies that were once reserved for the ghetto-dwelling inhabitants of Pre-Obama America. White people borrow liberally from Black people, ditching belts for the more fashionable display of boxer shorts. Pants on the ground is a shared characteristic of both Black and white people now.

Although the use of the term "Nigga" is prohibited by white people, enforcing measures to stop them from saying this word is futile and greatly unnecessary. Any people who have the ability to force white people to lock their car doors when they appear are obviously in complete control of the nation.

One film was instrumental in endearing Black culture to white people, most of which have rarely interacted with Black people in real life save for the aborted trip to the mall that once was frequented by white people.

That movie? Friday staring Ice Cube and Chris Tucker:

The film is a look at one particular day (Friday) in the life of two friends, Craig Jones ( Ice Cube) and Smokey ( Chris Tucker), in urban Los Angeles. Straight-laced Craig has recently been fired from his job while attempting to collect his wages (he was allegedly caught on camera stealing boxes), although he claims innocence. Exacerbating his dilemma, his parents (John Witherspoon and Anna Maria Horsford) are threatening to evict him from the family home unless he quickly finds new employment.

Meanwhile, Craig has been eyeing comely, pretty neighbor Debbie (Nia Long), but his insanely jealous, ghetto-fabulous girlfriend Joi (Paula Jai Parker) is a formidable obstacle (ironically, an unidentified man was seen in Joi's bed in the beginning of the film, while she was arguing with Craig on the phone).

This 1995 film has a trance like effect on white people and though life in the ghetto (the film takes place in Compton) isn't as warm, fuzzy and fun as the film Friday might depict, the odd appeal of a world inhabited with the constant irritation of impending death by a hail of gunfire is a curiously exciting prospect that grips white kids and doesn't let go.

We have discussed the strange phenomenon of peaceful Block Parties at SBPDL, an infrequent occurrence in the Black community despite the high frequency of Block Parties held within the Black community.

What happens when white kids try and hold a Block Party in the theme of a Compton Cookout amongst themselves? Well, sometimes imitation isn't the most sincere form of flattery but the flat out most racist and bigoted form:

SAN DIEGO -- Officials at UC San Diego are condemning a ghetto-themed party organized by fraternity students to mock Black History Month.

A Facebook posting advertising Monday's 'Compton Cookout' invited people to a condominium complex off-campus.

The invitation urged all participants to wear chains, rapper-style urban clothing by makers such as FUBU and speak very loudly.

Female participants were encouraged to be "ghetto chicks" with gold teeth, cheap clothes and "short, nappy hair."

The invitation said the party would serve watermelon, chicken, malt liquor, cheap beer and a purple sugar-water concoction called "dat Purple Drank."

The party was organized by members of several UCSD fraternities, according to an e-mail from Gary Ratcliff, assistant vice chancellor for student life.

UCSD Chancellor Marye Anne Fox called the party, "offensive" and a "blatant disregard of our campus values."

"We reject acts of discrimination ... and we will confront and appropriately respond to such acts," Fox said.

We have discussed Fraternity Halloween Parties and the shameful pattern of dressing up in Black face or worse costumes that offend Black people in Black Run America (BRA) and were shocked to learn Jiggaboo Jones was behind the San Diego Compton Cookout, for he is a Black person!

These type of events - the harmless dressing up and imitating Black people - showcase the raw power of BRA at its most dominant hegemony over the minds and wills of all people who reside in America, for Black people use the events to demand more extreme measures to be codified into law:

The demands of the Black Student Union to address the issue of poor campus climate are stated below and are to be effective immediately.

• We demand a Permanent Task Force to fund more outreach efforts and create more opportunities for hiring African-American Faculty.

• We demand the University fully fund the traditional and non-traditional events of the Black Student Union in our efforts to create a better climate for ourselves.

• Match Funds with Student Promoted Access Center for Education and Service (SPACES) budget including the Student Initiated Access Program and Services (SIAPS) and Academic Success Program (ASP) budgets.

• We demand that every time the freshmen class enrollment is cut the University matches the student fees that they would have been paying to SPACES permanently to SPACES.

• We demand that Chancellor Fox uses more energy and resources to providing research based scholarships for African-American students as apart of a retention component from the Chancellor’s Diversity Office.

• Demand the University to increase the African-American populations in all areas of the campus including, Students (undergraduates and graduates), PhD Candidates, Faculty, Staff and Administration.

• We demand the University directly fully fund Faculty-Student Mentor Programs.

• We demand the University staff the vacant Program Coordinator position of the African-American Studies Minor

• We demand the Chancellor’s office make the African-American Studies Minor and the Chicano Latina/o Arts and Humanities Minor a priority for the University.

• We demand the University to charge a Task Force to create the plan for an African-American Resource Center on Campus in two years to provide a safe space for the African-American community.

• We demand that Chancellor Fox create an Office for Diversity Affairs from her administration instead of a part-time position with a title.

• We demand the Chancellor fully funds the Chief Diversity Office.

• We demand a change of Admissions Policy from a Comprehensive to a Holistic Review beginning for the Fall 2011 applicant pool.

• We demand campus climate becomes the Chancellor’s number one priority, especially in this time of crisis.

• We demand Chancellor Fox and the University have mutual respect of the “Principles of Community” and create a precedent of prioritizing students of color and leading by example. When demand that there be repercussions when the “Principles of Community” are blatantly being violated.

• We demand the Chancellor’s Office charges the Campus Climate Commission that will work primarily on improving the campus climate and providing a safer and more welcoming space and experience for the students of underrepresented communities and the entire student body.

• We demand a permanent quarterly and annual campus climate report from this Campus Climate Commission. This Campus Climate Commission must report directly to SAAC.

• We demand the University create a space in the central part of campus safe for African-American students on campus.

• We demand the Chancellor, Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs, and Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs, Chief Diversity Office meet with the chair and vice chair of the Black Student Union at least once every academic quarter.

• We demand the University provide financial education and counseling, teaching students from low-income, underprivileged communities how to manage their money being independent college students.

• We demand that the University sends out a campus-wide email presenting the Black Student Union’s Do UC us? Campaign Report on Yield of African-American students immediately.

• We demand the University live up to it’s “Principles of Community” and show leadership and integrity by giving up the remains of the Kumeeay tribe and respect the native land on which we are housed.

• We demand three permanent designated spaces for African-American inspired art to reflect the struggle and progress for students of color on this campus.

• We demand that Chancellor Fox fully funds this Art space. We demand that the moral “Chicano Legacy” become a permanent art piece on this campus. We demand that Native American, Latino and Asian-Pacific Islander cultural art is reflected publicly on this campus.

• We demand Chancellor Fox and the Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs, and the Academic Senate mandate a diversity sensitivity requirement for every undergraduate student to take an African-American studies, Ethnic Studies, and Gender Studies before they graduate from UC San Diego.

• We demand the programs and departments such as OASIS, Campus Community Centers, Ethnic Studies, Critical Gender Studies, CLAH, and African American Studies Minor amongst others continue to have solid funding for the work they do in retaining African American students and educating the campus as a whole.

• We demand the University implements, maintains and fully funds BSU’s Student Initiated Yield Programs.

• Stipend for Student Volunteers- students deserves compensation for the hard work they do that the University should be doing.

• We demand that the Chancellor’s Office offers more campus-wide support for the African-American students on this campus, as well as the other historically underrepresented and under-served communities on this campus.

• We demand the University provide the African-American community with a temporary location for a safe space on campus while the African-American Resource Center is being planned and constructed.

• We demand the University provide free tutors for the African-American students who seek academic support. This can be structured similar to that of the Athletic Department’s services to Athletes.

• We demand a response!

We demand a response too at SBPDL!!! Compton Cookouts have occurred throughout the land, thanks to white people and their love of the movie Friday and the joy they garner from partaking in pantomiming Black people at events they hold in their honor.

Black Run America is a simple concept. The furor over Compton Cookouts showcase this ability to shame white people into the corner with the dunce cap of racist is but a small sampling of what life is like in BRA.

Yet, we remind those in BRA that those who can see only grow in ranks when events like this happen.

Stuff Black People Don't Like includes Compton Cookouts as the attempts by white kids to entertain fantasies of acting Black go to far when they dare dress in the same accoutrements of Black people and eat soul food and listen to rap music.

That type of activity is never present at a Black party!

#295. Disturbances at Black Gay Pride Events

Black people love block parties, as they offer one of the ultimate chances for community building and interacting with fellow Black people in a congenial environment. Having multiple generations of Black people congregating together and sharing stories with one another helps educate the young about the dangers of "The Man".

Sadly, as SBPDL has chronicled, Black people haven't had a great record of peaceful block parties as of late, and another event that attracted large numbers of Black people into a "block party" environment recently ended in tragedy and confusion. Strangely, Kanye West was nowhere to be found as were cries of "no homo".

You see, Atlanta is not only the Black Mecca of America, it is also the Black Gay Mecca of the world. And like all Gay people, Black Gay people (BGP) in Atlanta love to march in unison - as skimpily clad as possible - to the tune of Black Gay pride.

Atlanta, which already has one of the highest concentrations of Gay people in America, is beginning to see its Black Gay population come out of the closest and assert themselves as a powerful bloc.

Black Gay people in Atlanta are not content with just being Gay with those faggy white people, so they have formed another celebration of Gayness as part of Black Gay Pride Week. Meeting at Piedmont Park in Atlanta, Gay Black people have come together to out-Gay each other in a celebration of their:a. Blackness; and, b. Gayness.

Sadly, block parties with Black people involved all have the same tragic ending written in advance as these happy Black Gay people in Atlanta were deprived of a Cinderella, fairytale ending:

"The Atlanta Police Department said people with guns were fighting in Piedmont Park at about 9 p.m. today causing hundreds of people to "stampede."

There were no initial reports of injuries and police said the scene was deemed safe after the crowd was dispersed. The park closes at 11 p.m. and most people were leaving the park at about 9:30 p.m.

Several arrests were made and two people was possibly maced, said APD LGBT liaison Officer Dani Lee Harris.

"The APD got a call about an unruly crowd at the park and responded to the scene. There were two Code 20s [use of mace] and several arrests were made, but it's not known yet how many," Harris said at about 10:15 p.m. "The crowd is dispersed and the scene is secure." She added there were no reports of any injuries.

Hundreds of people were gathered in the park today as part of an unofficial gathering of Black Gay Pride, with DJs playing music and numerous cookouts taking place. Sundays in the park is part of a long standing tradition at Black Gay Pride"

Atlanta is undergoing massive budget cuts, which is resulting in police being let go, and a horrible wave of crime is washing the city worse than any rain storm could hope to accomplish, yet the city still is tolerant enough to pay for an officer dedicated to LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual and Transgender) affairs... even in the face of economic collapse, tolerance is king!

However, the event was downplayed as being the result of an errant firecracker and any correlation of Black Gay people and gun violence was quelled:

"Initial reports by the Atlanta Police Department of people fighting with guns Sept. 6 in Piedmont Park were incorrect, according to new information released by the APD.

Lt. J. Little of the dispatch unit of Zone 5, which supervises Piedmont Park, said Tuesday that police responded to an unruly crowd at the park at about 9 p.m. Sunday after someone threw firecrackers causing many people to run.

No arrests were made and no injuries were reported, Little added. He also said police did not close down the park.

“There were no guns involved. Someone had thrown firecrackers and some of the crowd ran and caused a little bit of a panic,” Little said. “We dispatched units, but there were no arrests made and no injuries.”

Hundreds of people gather in the park each Sunday during Labor Day weekend as part of celebrating Black Gay Pride.

"There were people fighting with guns and that caused people to stampede," an APD officer told Ryan Lee at the scene on Sunday as officers set up barricades around the park refusing to allow people in the park and clearing people out. Lee is David Atlanta magazine editor and Southern Voice senior reporter and was at the park at about 9:30 p.m. when people began running."

Interesting, this large collection of Gay Black people organizing to celebrate Black Gay Pride (BGP) in Atlanta, comes on the heels of the revelation that Black People don't listen to the CDC, especially Gay Black People:

"The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recently released statistics that revealed gay and bisexual Black men, between the ages of 23 to 29, become infected with the AIDS virus at the rate of nearly 15 percent a year-four times more than Latinos and Whites."

As stated, "No Homo" is not welcome at Black Gay Pride week in Atlanta, and neither is any derisive press regarding gun violence at Black pride events. According to the data, guns don't kill Gay Black People, only fellow Gay Black people do.

So, now gun shots at the festival of Gay Black pride, only Black people stampeding. Nothing new.

Sadly, the love for Gay Black people in America is not something that all Black people have, as Black people are the one group that is adamantly opposed to Gay marriage.

Stuff Black People Don't Like includes disturbances at Black Gay Pride events, for anytime that Black people are negatively depicted in the media is horrible, but for Black Gay people to be seen as bad is unimaginable.

Then again, no Atlanta-area McDonald's had any problems with transvestites attacking, so all was well in the end.

#296. Peaceful Block Parties

A block party is a great way to get to know your neighbors in a congenial environment, full of fun, food and frivolity.

It's a chance for your kids to meet new neighborhood kids, throw the football or baseball around and talk about the latest gossip in the community with friends and family.

For Black people, block parties offer a chance for something much different: extreme violence. The typical block party in the one of US News and World Report and CNNMoney.com's best places to live in America would include fun, food and frivolity and white people.

Block parties in the black community normally include basketball, beer and extreme violence, such as this one in Miami:

"Bright pink, blue and green balloons hung from a party sign welcoming hundreds of young adults to the birthday celebration in Miami's Overtown neighborhood Sunday night.

They sipped drinks and danced as the DJ spun rap music. The party spilled onto Northwest Fifth Avenue, where it looked more like a parade than a party.Bullets fired from high-powered weapons sprayed the crowd. Witnesses and police said the shooting, which began about 12:45 a.m. Monday, lasted several minutes and stretched over several blocks as the shooters fled.

In Concord, North Carolina but a few days later, Black people were celebrating together in another block party gala and the party ended much the same as the one in Miami, with violence:

"...Officers said a fight at a block party led to multiple people firing guns around 4 a.m. Saturday. Keyarre Miller, 20, was killed. Three others were shot on Ervin Avenue.

As of Sunday afternoon police said they still had dozens of people to interview and still had no leads as to who is responsible and involved in the shooting.Miller's aunt was one of nearly 100 people at the party. "I ran to take cover," Stephanie Graham said. "And then I heard somebody say my nephew had got shot. And when I ran outside, I saw him and his girlfriend on the ground."

Not be outdone, but a block party in Columbia, South Carolina ended in even more violence, as Black people continued a streak of three states, three bellicose endings to block parties:

"A Saturday evening shooting left seven people injured and police searching for a suspect.

The Columbia Police Department says around 10 pm Saturday, they received a call of shots being fired on the 2200 block of Waverly Street. Police say it was the scene of a street party.

Officials say seven people were shot with a handgun. All of the victims have non-life-threatening injuries. Police say the majority of the victims are under the age of 25."

All of these three stories are but a glimpse into the block party lifestyles of Black people and all occurred between the days of July 1 and July 14, 2009. All occurred in different states, with different Black people and yet produced the same outcome: violence.

Worse, the violent endings to Black people's block parties is not geographically isolated to the south, as in New Jersey - at the end of June 2009 - Black people engaged in yet another horrifying ending to a block party:

"...police yesterday charged a seventh alleged Bloods gang member with murder in the death of a 13-year-old city girl earlier this month.

Police said 27-year-old Sex Money Murder member Michael Jennings was part of a deliberate plan to target rival gang members with a drive-by shooting at a North Ward block party that missed its intended targets and killed Tamrah Leonard"

Interestingly, one of the few Black people block party events that did not end in bloodshed was a Hollywood feature that starred Dave Chappelle, Block Party. It seems only Hollywood can create the illusion that so many Black people know is false; Stuff Black People Don't Like includes peaceful block parties, because four block parties -in four different states - full of hundreds of different black people - in a one month time span - all ending in violence, equates to Chappelle's movies ending being a myth.
