The winning essayist will receive a scholarship of $1,500 (see below). Essays must be between 2,000 and 2,500 words and detail how “White Privilege” has helped them navigate Black Run America (BRA), where a plethora of race-based scholarships that exclude white applicants are available.
· Majority Asian contestants will receive a scholarship of $250
· Majority American Indian contestants will receive a DVD copy of Machete
The Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) gives out scholarships but seems to steer them to family members without fail.
The Gates Millennium Scholarship, funded by a $1 billion gift from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, curiously omitted “white” or “Caucasian” as a choice on Section 9 of its application form where the applicant was required to specify his or her race or ethnicity (the application is available here).
That white students (K through 12) are already a minority in most major American cities and in many states -- consult this recent study by The Brookings Institute for more information -- should serve as a reminder that academia will always blame white students for the failures of minorities (though Asians are doing fine) even as white students become a dwindling portion of the overall population.
