Segregation: What "Red Tails"and the Tuskegee Airmen Story Really Celebrates

What your typical pilot in the military looks like
With the impending release on January 20th of George Lucas' Red Tails, it's important to ask a simple question: "What is the legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen, those Black pilots who escorted white bombers over Germany so many years ago?"

If one were to rent from Netflix Soul Plane, you'll get a glimpse of the pinnacle of Black aviation achievement since the Tuskegee Airmen took to the air.

Knowing that the Black people selected for flight training down in Tuskegee during World War II were screened for intelligence - so that they wouldn't fail - it's important that this point be made: The Tuskegee Airmen's success (though much of it has been inflated) and growing legend is attributable entirely to segregation.

What? "How can you say that?," you're probably asking yourself. Yes, the segregation of the military (there was no separate Air Force during World War II, just the Army Air Force) is the real champion in the Tuskegee Airmen tale.

Many historians have pointed to the success (remember, most of the "success" - like never losing a bomber they escorted -was entirely made-up) of the Tuskegee Airmen as the primary reason for the desegregation of the Armed Forces. If this is true, this event must signify the death of Black aviation achievement.

When Black men were only competing with other Black men in pilot training, they had only the best scores of Black cadets to aspire to replicate; once Black men were forced to compete for the few pilot slots available in an integrated training unit, they were forced to compete with the standard set by white men.

Just as in firefighting and police exams, the results weren't pretty. You can't have affirmative action in the pilot seat, and lowering standards and requirements for a pilot equates to risking lives and millions of dollars in equipment.

Recall this story from the Air Force Times, which states that less than two percent of Air Force fighter pilots are Black:
Racism in the Air Force is largely a thing of the past, but that doesn’t mean all wrongs have been righted or that the issue doesn’t merit discussion, says one of the service’s 12 black general officers and the head of its recruiting command.
Brig. Gen. A.J. Stewart sees February, designated as Black History Month, as an opportunity to talk frankly about the past and the importance of diversity.
“One of the interesting questions that comes up every year is ... ‘Why do we continue to have an African-American heritage month? I thought we were past these issues,’ ” Stewart said. “My perspective on that is yes, we are no longer under the bonds of slavery, [and] we no longer have legal discrimination. ... However, for African-Americans in particular, we suffered very deep wounds for hundreds of years in this country, and while the wounds essentially have healed, they’ve left scars, and we are still in one sense recovering from this terrible experience.”

Only 1.9 percent of Air Force pilots are black, according to AFPC. Of 14,130 Air Force pilots, 270 identified themselves as black; another 620 declined to report their race.
“We’ve been trying for 20 years to get more black pilots, but it’s a little lower than it was 20 years ago,” said Stewart, who is a pilot.
The drop in pilots is harder to explain but probably stems from blacks being underrepresented in the sciences and technical fields, where the Air Force gets many of its pilots, Dorn said.
In Black-Run America (BRA) we are all trained in public school to understand that anytime that Black people collectively fail at something (or are underrepresented in a vocation) then only racism from white people is to blame. Or white privilege.

Recall that when the Tuskegee Airmen were trained, they weren't up against white privilege. They were in an entirely Black unit, competing only against other Black people. This was the reason that so many Black people were able to take to the skies and escort white-flown bombers over an already mortally wounded Nazi Germany. The heavy lifting had already been accomplished by white fighter pilots and white bombing teams; why not give the 332 Fighter Group an opportunity to shine since they had logged so many flight hours?

They only competed against themselves. Success was thus guaranteed.

Upon integration of the US Military, success would no longer only be measured against fellow Black people. They had to compete with white pilots.

The legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen meant absolutely nothing upon the integration of the Air Force. In the Korean War, only a handful of Black people were fighter pilots:
In 1950, the Air Force had 25 black pilots in integrated fighter squadrons led by Captain Daniel "Chappie" James Jr., who was assigned to the 36th Squadron, 5th Air Force. Captain James was an exceptional fighter pilot who often flew his F-86 Sabre jet on dangerous, unarmed reconnaissance missions behind enemy lines -- a task reserved for a select group of the most able and trusted flyers. James flew 101 combat missions in Korea and earned the Distinguished Flying Cross before being reassigned stateside. In July 1951, he became the first African-American in the Air Force to command a fighter squadron.
Again, why must we must ask ourselves why the story of the Tuskegee Airmen must continually be rehashed? Haven't other Black pilots distinguished themselves? Well, not really. Even in the private sector, Organized Blackness is constantly attacking the airline industry for the paucity of Black pilots.
Honoring the Tuskegee Airmen is glorifying segregation: Blacks can't compete as pilots otherwise (save in movies)

Organized Blackness tries to equate the discrimination that the Black men of the Tuskegee Airmen faced when trying to ascertain (make-up excuses) reasons for the current lack of Black pilots. But let's not kid ourselves: there is no discrimination in the current United States Military, save that officially sanctioned against white males.

The military goes out of its way to locate Black people qualified (and intelligent enough) to place in pilot training:

About 20 percent of the U.S. military is black, compared to 13 percent of all Americans, according to recently released Defense Department statistics.
But in the two services with the majority of fixed-wing aircraft, the Navy and the Air Force, the percentage of black aviators is very small.
Navy statistics from the fourth quarter of 2002 show that of 8,557 pilots (16 percent of the officer corps), just 185 are black — 2 percent.
And in the Air Force, of 12,639 pilots (also 16.1 percent of the officer corps), just 236 officers are black pilots, or 2.1 percent.
The dearth of black pilots is hardly news. To the contrary, military officials have been aware of the phenomenon for decades.
“We can go all the way back to the 1970s,” to trace the U.S. Air Force’s efforts to increase the black pilot cadre, Brig. Gen. Leon Johnson, an Air Force Reserve fighter pilot and one of the military’s most prominent advocates for recruiting black pilots, said in a February interview.

In a landmark report published in 1999 by the Office of the Undersecretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness titled “Career Progression in Minority and Women Officers” (the last time the topic has been addressed by the Defense Department), a section on aviation says, “of all minorities, the representation of blacks has remained stubbornly low over the last 15 years.”

Selection and training
Once blacks who want to be military aviators make it into college, the manner in which the military identifies, recruits, selects and trains its pilots might be a significant barrier to the stated goal of increasing the black flying cadre, the 1999 report said.
The services draw their pilot candidates from several different sources, including the “Big Three pipelines,” as Johnson called them.
Those pipelines are the service academies; Reserve Officer Training Corps, or ROTC, programs at mainstream colleges and universities; and direct commissioning via the officer training schools.
For both ROTC and academy students, the military selection process for flight school begins in the senior year of college, when selection boards take into account academic performance, leadership, faculty recommendations and extracurricular activities.
Students also take a battery of service-specific aviator tests.
The number of flight school slots available in any given year varies, depending on the needs of the services at the time.
Each college or university is allocated a limited number of slots for pilot trainees, Gen. Johnson said, “So even though [candidates are] qualified, they may not be able to go.”
Richard Jones saw that happen to 12 of his best black friends in 2001, during his senior year at Grambling State University in Louisiana (Grambling is part of America’s network of almost 100 formally designated Historically Black Colleges and Universities).
All 13 friends sent their applications to the Air Force’s pilot selection board, but only Jones was accepted to pilot training.
Moral of the story? Only a segregated unit would have allowed all of those 13 Black ROTC cadets from Grambling a shot at flying. They can't compete with white pilots otherwise.

That's the reason that we must continue to have the Tuskegee Airmen rammed down our throats because only segregated pilot-training could have allowed this story to transpire.

Just as Black men aren't equipped to compete with white men when it comes to being part of  US Special Forces, Black men can't compete in an integrated Air Force.

Funny, in the 1960 and 1970s, the United States Air Force created a special Black pilot training program that didn't have the same - exaggerated - results of the real Tuskegee Experiment:
Remembering the struggles they went through to earn their wings, Hank Taylor and about a dozen mostly retired black pilots on Saturday walked around the old Reese Air Force Base.

Nearly 40 years ago, these men were in the midst of a civil rights-era struggle for racial equality in the air.
"We're sort of on the heels of the Tuskegee Airman," Taylor said, alluding to the all-black World War II air-combat unit based in Tuskegee, Ala.

In the 1960s and '70s, Reese was one of several bases where the United States Air Force launched a black pilot training program. Taylor, a 1971 graduate of the program, said the Air Force started it to curb failure or "wash-out" rates that were twice as high among black students - about 50 percent - compared to white students. To do this, the Air Force grouped black students at several bases and slowly recruited more black instructor pilots to help level the playing field during the highly subjective, yearlong assessment process.

Off they don't go into the wild blue yonder. A 50 percent wash-out once the military had integrated? What was the wash-out rate for the all-Black Tuskegee Airmen?

Otherwise, there would be more Black pilots.

Right?

The Washington Times published an article on the lack of Black pilots (Pentagon Studies, Finds no Reason for Lack of Black Pilots, May 7, 1996) that shows the problem still vexes the Pentagon:
Blacks continue to be underrepresented among the military's aviation officer corps, and the Pentagon, after a lot of study, doesn't know why, a top official said yesterday.
Edwin Dorn, the undersecretary of defense for personnel and readiness, said the services have spent much time analyzing why blacks make up only 2.1 percent of the 10,000 fixed-wing aircraft pilots in the Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps, while accounting for 7.4 percent of all 218,000 officers in those services.
"I don't think we came up with a very good answer, quite frankly," Mr. Dorn told a conference of scholars and military officers sponsored by the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies. He said the armed forces' blacksalso lag in representation in special forces units and in civilian management posts.
Alan Gropman, a history professor at the Industrial College
"American education is not providing the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines with enough black candidates for pilot training," Mr. Gropman, a former Air Force navigator who flew on 650 combat missions in Vietnam, said in an interview.
He said the service academies like to draw from a group of high-school seniors who have at least a 3.5 grade-point average, a 1,100 score on the Scholastic Assessment Tests and a letter of recommendation, and who have participated in two or more extracurricular activities.
Of 150,000 such students last year, 135,000 were white and 1,190 were black, Mr. Gropman said.
Noting the low ratio of black pilots in the Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps, an aide to Mr. Dorn said, "It's not going up the same way the other occupations have gone up."

What occupations are going up in the military? Definitely not in those positions that put Americans in harm's way in the Afghanistan and Iraq wars, where Stars and Stripes recently lamented that only white men are earning honor and valor on the battlefield.

Of course, we could always institute massive affirmative action schemes as the South African government did in the vain attempt at de-whitening the Air Force there:
The South African Air Force (SAAF) has a morale problem. The government has been trying to integrate previously all white institutions. This has been most difficult in areas that require lots of technical training and education. Like pilots. The government has set a racial goal for SAAF pilots, and wants them to be 75 percent black and 25 percent white. Currently, it is 19 percent black and 81 percent white. The morale problem arose when, recently, three top rated graduates of pilot training school, who would normally go on to fly fighters, were told that, because they were white, they would instead fly helicopters or transports.

So the ANC government hoped to re-create the Tuskegee Airmen down in the Cape of Good Hope? How'd that work out? Well, the previous article was published in 2006. This one, was in 2009:
This year, the South African Air Force stopped automatically releasing data on how many hours combat pilots flew for training. When the numbers were finally obtained, it was discovered that in the last year, fighter pilots were in the air for 325 hours (less than two hours a month per pilot). In contrast, pilots on VIP flights (carrying politicians and government officials) were up there 1,932 hours. There are about fifty transports, and 80 helicopters in the air force.
But there's more going on. First, the air force only has twenty fighter pilots, and only nine fighters. In the next three years, 26 Swedish Gripen fighters are being delivered. Nine are already on hand. Last year, the last of the 66 Cheetah fighters (rebuilt French Mirage IIIs) were retired. Last year, the last full year that Cheetahs were operational, fighter pilots got 2,084 hours in the air. The year before that, 2,448 hours. It's believed that only six of the twenty fighter pilots are competent to handle their aircraft in combat. Most competent pilots have left the air force because of the lack of flying hours. Many of the pilots remaining got in under a quota system that attempts to add more racial diversity to the air force.
Not surprisingly, many South Africans believe that the South African Air Force (SAAF) is falling apart. The most obvious aspect of this is the decrepit state of aging buildings, runways and aircraft. But the biggest problem is getting, and keeping, technical people. This is complicated by a government program to integrate previously all white institutions. This has been most difficult in areas that require lots of technical training and education. Like pilots and aircraft maintainers.
The government has set a racial goal for SAAF pilots, and wants them to be 75 percent black and 25 percent white. Currently, it is still over 50 percent white.

Looks like the goal of finding qualified Black pilots in South Africa is still somewhere over the rainbow...

Knowing that Black-Run America (BRA) is still followed to a "T" in the United States Military, we could one day see a policy similar to that of South Africa instituted at the Air Force Academy and ROTC programs across the nation.

But we must state this simple fact: The Tuskegee Airmen story - which George Lucas personally funded re-telling in his Red Tails film - could have only transpired thanks to the military being segregated.

So, if you go see Red Tails and you wonder what the legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen really is and why we must continually read and hear about this lone Black unit, understand that the integration of the military completely clipped the wings of future Black pilots before they got the chance to be trained to fly.

They just can't compete with white (or non-Black) pilots.

Know this: we at SBPDL do not endorse segregation. We believe in merit, which is anathema to the governing apparatus known as BRA.

So, there's the truth about why we must continually be bombarded with tales of the Tuskegee Airmen's aerial success. One, since the Tuskegee Airmen defied stereotypes and were able to fly planes successfully, then only racism can be blamed for the lack of Black pilots now. Right?

No.

In integrated units, Black pilots have no chance. Just ask Black firefighters and Black police officers how they got their jobs. Entrance exams had to be lowered to accomodate low scoring Black applicants.

So, the Red Tails movie will inspire millions, and lead to Black kids channeling their inner Luke Skywalker and joining the ROTC or applying to the Air Force Academy, right? Too bad the proficiency of your average Black high school student is abysmal now.

The pinnacle of Black aviation achievement has been achieved. Roads all around the country will be renamed in honor of the Tuskegee Airmen, a unit that could only exist under the pretenses of segregation.

If you go see Red Tails to honor the airmen, know you go to actually honor segregation.

So, the Tuskegee Airmen didn't win the war in Europe for us; primarily, they escorted bombers and encountered opposition from a completely decimated Luftwaffe relying on new teenage recruits to protect the imploding Third Reich.

What they do represent is the apex of what segregation could provide (and only sports can do now): actual positive role models for the Black community.

White Middle Schooler Assaulted on Public Transit in Portland, Oregon.

Blacks are involved, OF COURSE!

Remember Portland, Oregon is pretty much the capitol of DWL and SWPL Land.

I wonder what excuse DWLs and SWPL will make for this lapse of temperament?

Brig. Gen. A.J. Stewart sees February, designated as Black History Month, as an opportunity to talk frankly about the past and the importance of diversity.

Please keep in mind how this is the exact same kind of "diversity" that Fort Hood's General George Casey was referring to when he said:

“Our diversity, not only in our Army, but in our country, is a strength. And as horrific as this tragedy was, if our diversity becomes a casualty, I think that’s worse,”

It was that "diversity" and subsequent refusal by top brass to intervene ― even when Army Major Nidal Malik Hasan put "Soldier of Allah" on his business cards ― that got thirteen good soldiers killed.

“One of the interesting questions that comes up every year is ... ‘Why do we continue to have an African-American heritage month? I thought we were past these issues,’ ” Stewart said. “My perspective on that is yes, we are no longer under the bonds of slavery, [and] we no longer have legal discrimination. ... However, for African-Americans in particular, we suffered very deep wounds for hundreds of years in this country, and while the wounds essentially have healed, they’ve left scars, and we are still in one sense recovering from this terrible experience.” [emphasis added]

Would you grow up and stop whining about something that happened almost two centuries ago? How much longer will it take whimpy, pathetic, crybaby Blacks to heal from "very deep wounds" that were never even physically inflicted upon them? This crap has got to end!

Taylor, a 1971 graduate of the program, said the Air Force started it to curb failure or "wash-out" rates that were twice as high among black students - about 50 percent - compared to white students.

Ask yourself: Why does the Air Force wash out flight school students?

Maybe it's so they never get a chance to auger in with a $153 million bird.

Maybe it's so they never get a chance to collide with or blow a fellow pilot ― trained at a cost of some $1 million ― out of the sky.

What will it take for morons like Brig. Gen. A.J. Stewart to be shouted down the moment they try and summon up the mouldering corpse of White Man's Burden?

Maybe Hollywood is starting to realize that Whites don't want to pay to see movies with all black casts.

It ain't the general's money.

Besides, no military man will speak the truth about double standards.

It's because they all wish to be double dippers.

Retire from the military.

And then go back to work in the military industrial complex.

Or as a lobbyist on the Hill.

Why speak out when your exit strategy would be foreclosed?

George Lucas is a prototypical, idiotic DWL. This movie will be terrible, and will flop. The trailer alone is excruciating, especially the fabricated "we fight" chant.

And lacking a hip-hop soundtrack, even blacks are unlikely to see it.

BTW, just as Hollywood felt compelled to diversify Thor by adding a black character to the all-white Norse Gods club, I think the Tuskegee airmen should include at least one Mexican and one Chinese.

You don't endorse "segregation" here? That's disappointing. You're not for freedom of association? Really?

If you believe in any sort of "freedom" at all, I suggest you start with the basics.

The main-stream movie critics will praise the movie. Most people who see the movie will take it as gospel applied to film. Blacks will be praised as having saved our asses in WWII. Oscar's will be awarded. Myth becomes reality.

Blacks will segregate themselves without state sponsored segregation. This becomes a problem when the government forces blacks into white areas through affirmative action or welfare programs. I go to a "Southern Ivy League" university, yet in one of my classes there is a black girl who can't even form a complete sentence. Of course, my anthropology class taught me this was okay because African-American Ebonics are just as good or better than normal English.

It had that signature negro sound so typical of their little "chimp outs." It's vomit-inducing. They really do sound like wild animals (perhaps because they are in some ways relative to us). They have no business living next to us, that's for sure.

At the risk of offending some brave white bomber pilots, let me say that the "Redtails" escorted bombers flying from Italy with the 15th Air Force. That was a secondary force that factored late in the war. The major bombing campaigns against Germany were conducted by the "Mighty Eighth", the 8th AAF flying from England. They absorbed most of the losses in 1943 until the P-51 Mustang squadrons arrived in early 944..again flying from English bases..the Afro flyboys were part of a sideshow

Army ROTC programs have a similar, unofficial policy already in place. I can't provide any personal information, but I will say that ROTC programs will significantly lower standards to "provide opportunities" to people of color. It's really a shame.

"Not endorsing segregation isn't the same thing as forcing integration."

This is some very pretzeled logic here. Either you support the rights of people to associate with whom they choose or you don't. Segregation is the inevitable de facto result when you allow people to CHOOSE who they will live next to. The states simply rubber stamped what was already a reality with Jim Crow laws. It's an either/or thing. There is no neutral ground here.

Now, people may choose to not segregate on the basis of race explicitly but it still happens implicitly and invariably EVEN when INTEGRATION is the law. Just imagine if it weren't! I guess you'd rather just be more evasive about reality than some of us? The Japanese don't apologize for "segregating." Neither do Jews or blacks in Africa. Why should whites EVERYWHERE?

I feel like some of you are trying to have your cake and eat it too. Who did race-based segregation favor? White people. Why? It protected them from black pathology and black exploitation. Who has race-based integration help? Blacks. For reasons this site highlights. So with regards to race, I really don't see a lot of ground for neutrality on the segregation question. If it makes you feel morally superior to have a token in your neighborhood (which makes you like every other white then), fine. Just know that that is all a slippery slope.

Segregation? No. SBPDL does not support segregation. They support extreme honesty and accountability. These honored traits are not reserved for any one race, they are reserved for the correct mindset. I don't care what color you are only what mindset you live your life with. Nigger ( so sorry editor) is a mindset not a skin tone.

I have seen white-trash meth heads that have done disgustingly despicable acts in the name of supporting their habits. I have seen asians who skin dogs and throw babies out if they be of the wrong sex. I have seen Indians who can't handle their firewater. I have seen frenchmen who gloried in raping vietnamese girls. All races are capable of evil. SBPDL was started as an effort to show that the hypocritical duplicitous attitude of BRA is stopping any real idea of accountability from taking hold in the black community. We have excused the criminal behavior of one segment of our society and shielded them behind the "I had a rough childhood" defense. Most of this comes from Sybil, the repressed memory syndrome woman and all of the falsified research that went into making her story popular.

The woman who wrote Sybil , Flora Rheta Schreiber has admitted to falsifying most of her work in an effort to make a best seller. But once the dam is broken it's impossible to stop the flood. Since her "Repressed Memory Syndrome" became a popular diagnosis we have seen a flood of "Well your Honor, I hads a bad childhood, no daddy, no money, etc and thats why I raped and killed an 80 year old woman and stole her TV to sell for crack." This must end.

Accountability is making a big comeback. Most importantly true accountability comes only from inside ones own soul. You know what's right and wrong and only your own conscience dictates which path you choose. The collective concience of BRA is faltering badly under the limelight of accountability and the cracks must be exploited by those who know the truth. We must push them on their own lack of character, we must push on their lack of peace and unity ( even when left to themselves bad people tear each other apart) But most importantly we must defend ourselves and our mindset from all challenges. In the long long history of the world there has only been one people who have mastered the philosophy of individual freedom matched with social accountability. And no it wasn't the Greeks of Athens.

We must prepare to defend to the death our evolved mindset. We must stop extending endless chances to act human. We must give up the hope of forcing morality from those who don't have the mental capacity to understand such an ethos. We must all adopt the rationale of the preacher from the Mel Gibson movie The Patriot. Sometimes the shepherd must go out and protect his flock.

Indiana Jones had it right when he shot that sword twirler in the marketplace. Han Solo had it right when HE SHOT FIRST. In this day and age we have allowed the most unaccountable fat sack of wasted oxygen and lack of talent asshat to edit the history of Han Solo; is it any wonder he has now made a whole edited history movie?

In the trailer for the new Red Tails ( Baboon Assed plans flown by ? Baboons?) the trailer shows an P-51 doing a High G barrel roll to get behind an attacking Me-262, once behind him the Red Tail pilot engages and destroys the 262. Top speed Me-262 560 Mph (900 kmh) P-51 top speed 487 mph (784 kmh) So from full speed to climbing vertically applying brakes coming out of the roll and oh yeah sure still in range to fire perfectly and kill the bad (14 year old) Nazi pilot. Yeah....that could happen. Chuck Yeager is about to be very angry.

It's only a matter of time before we have affirmative action pilots. Maybe we have them already. Does anyone know if there are lower standards for pilots at FedEx, UPS, USPS?

Someone needs to say it, so I will: George Lucas once said that he was, like Terrence Malick, a filmmaker who was famous for a very small body of work. "THX" showed early promise. And "American Grafitti" was great.

The best of the three "Star Wars" was directed by Irving Kershner, not Lucas, and George only hired him so that if the film bombed, someone else would get the blame. But when it was a success, oh how fast he claimed credit.

Lucas then crapped on his own franchise by introducing muppets into the fray, and then making three superflous, shithouse "prequels."

Is he making this movie as some kind of penance for Jar-Jar Binks? "Memphis Belle" forever.

Not to quibble, but if the "Red Tails" were up against 262's it's likely JV 44 was involved. Some of JV 44's pilots included:

Adolf Galland - 104 kills
Heinz Bär - 220 kills
Georg-Peter Eder - 78 kills

Eder's specialty was shooting down 4-engine bombers, which were much harder to engage due to the large number of defensive arms each carried.

The notion that the "Red Tails" could take on and defeat some of the finest pilots in history is more than absurd. It's fucking insulting.

Only a special effects junkie like Lucas could make this movie; it's the only way to make these "heroes" seem impressive.

I wish Ed Wood were still alive. I'd have loved his vision for this film -- and I'll bet the effects would be more realistic, i.e. unimpressive to match unimpressive performances.

The movie Joyful noise comes out tomorrow on the 13th. The Tuskegee Airman movie comes out on the 20th.

I hope they both flop.

Unfortunately blacks have no sense of frugality and are more than happy to spend $11 on movie tickets nightly and sales will be propped up by Whites (some, but hopefully a dwindling number of them) who would feel guilty within their social circle for not going to see that filth.

I witnessed the trailer for "red tails" while seeing Sherlock Holmes (probably the only movie I ventured to the theatres to see in all of 2011.) with my extended family over Thanksgiving. I don't think there were ANY blacks in the theatre that day, if there were they kept their cell phones off and their mouths shut!

But one thing I did notice was the release date: January 20th, and I said to one of my uncles [It is ok to talk quietly during the trailers right?] "now why would they release this propaganda on the 20th. What happens exactly one year later?"

Doesn't the Portland video (along with a few thousand other similar videos) show why segregation is necessary ?

Gentlemen, the internet is being shut down as pertains to free speech. The videos of the beating of the girl have all been deleted. Soon the internet will be just another propaganda device like TV is now. More and more "laws" ,actually dictates, as to what will be allowed on the internet are being enacted even as I type this. Goodbye freedom of speech completely.

I think Paul's stance on segregation has been misunderstood. As another commenter said, not endorsing segregation is not the same as supporting integration.

My view is like this. Rather than the government forcing us to live a certain way with regards to race, the government should be truly colorblind. That means no forced segregation, nor integration. An end to racial quotas and affirmative action. Beyond the government, I'd like to see more people abolishing their double standards. A group of "rowdy" white kids is more likely to be disciplined than a group of screaming, fighting blacks.

And that's terrible.

An unnamed college in NYC has built-up this mythology over the years. They have held symposia, appearances by survivors, endowed scholarship awards and even erected a bronze statue in the atrium. As a WW II history buff, I attended the last such appearance by this group, most of whom fought in wars subsequent to this one. Despite being heavily advertised, there appeared to be no one under the age of ~ 40 in the room, and I was the only white guy. I asked a technical question relating to a video that was shown re: logistic support of the unit.
Afterward, one of the dignitaries came up to me, I thought to shed further light on my question. Instead, he bombarded me with one crackpot question after the other:
'do you know how long blacks were not allowed to own guns in the South?', 'do you know how many wars blacks have fought in?', etc, etc, all having no relevance to the talk, to my question, to nothing. It was clear that the only reason he was angrily badgering me with this BS was that I was white. The guy was old, but lucid, not deranged. Just the fact that I appeared there, then expressed interest in the subject, meant nothing. I asked myself how someone who came through that experience alive, had a great life afterwards, could harbor such hatred for this country. It became clear to me, like no other encounter, how entrenched black racism, to a mindless degree is, and where every subsequent generation learned it. As has been said here many, many times: white guilt will never be enough, white reparations, to the tune of a fortune unprecedented in world history, will never be enough, no matter how many generations come and go. The really sad thing is, that despite more of the apologetic grovelling that will come as a result of this film, the current generation could care less about a film like this.

But Chuck Yeager is not a natural athlete unlike the guys this film is about and not like Will Smith in Independence Day who was able to fly an alien spaceship because he saw how it flew.

Sorry to thread jack, but at yahoo news there is a news 'story' titled "Haiti quake victims stuck in a time warp". It says after 2 years and 2 billion dollars in aid Haiti is still screwed up.

The good news is the VAST majority of comments are people pissed at yet another example of black community incompetence.

I'd say maybe less then 10% are DWL or blacks makng excuses. None will make the connection as to WHY Haiti didn't have the resources or preperations for an emergency the way Japan did (that's the biggest example people are giving).

Yes, the posters are anonymous, but it's still good to see so many people willing to call out black failures as being the failures of blacks, and not evil whites. It's the same whereever it's a black raping a white woman, or 16 blacks stabbing each other in front of a driveway, more and more people are sick of blacks acting like blacks.

I'll be happy for the rest of the day knowing more people are seeing clearly.

Does anyone here remember the "Air Force One Scare of New York" from April 2009. In a nutshell, here's what happened. Shortly after 0bama was immaculated, Air Force One, flanked by one or two F16 fighter jets, did an unannounced low flyover of New York City and it was eerily reminiscent of the passenger jets that slammed into the World Trade Center. It was bad PR and zerobama apologized for the incident. Anyway, the escort F16s were emblazoned with red painted tails. It was my and others' hunch at the time that it was an homage to the Tuskegee Airmen...black President escorted by a red tail just 64 years after WW II. George Lucas obviously had the 0bamas perpetrate that stunt for his upcoming movie. Taxpayers footed the bill and lots of people shit their pants because they thought it was another terrorist attack! Lots of articles are still available, but not a lot of photos.

My guess is that the ending scene from Red Tails will show how "far we've come" as a nation by electing a black POTUS and he'll be symbolically escorted by a new F16 red tail as they fly a loop around the Statue of Liberty.

Here's a link to an article and photo from a UK newspaper.

If it's being released in January, then that means odds are it's a stinker and the studio is just trying to burn it off in the post-Christmas, post-Oscar-deadlines silly season, when no one's paying much attention. That's such hoary old CW it doesn't even count as "insider" any more; in fact it's such old CW that who knows, I may even be wrong at this point.

I suspect that the MLK-Day-centric release date is a box-office Hail Mary pass of sorts. (btw, when is someone going to do a mashup film called "The Life and Times of Harvey MLK"?)

"...and kill the bad (14 year old) Nazi pilot."

It's a minor quibble, to be sure, but strictly speaking, "Nazi" means actual Party members, viz. actual literal Nazis were elite, and part of the political sphere. Not everybody fighting in the Wehrmacht or the Luftwaffe was a Nazi; in fact, most probably weren't, they were just hapless German natives fighting because they were forced to, in the impossible situation they were put in. The SS and the GeStaPo were evil Party fanatics, to be sure, and there were plenty of other wicked types. But some random German draftee in 1944 was not likely to be an actual bona fide "Nazi".

"white reparations, to the tune of a fortune unprecedented in world history, will never be enough..."

I for one welcome all this talk of reparations, but since we're all good globalists now, let's only talk reparations in a globalist perspective.

First in line: Islamic/African reparations to European Christendom for 1,200 years of slavery. That's right, you heard me: Muslim Arabs, Muslim Berbers, and Muslim Turks all owe the West massive, massive reparations (FAR more than could ever be calculated for the Middle Passage) for century upon century of slavery, slaughter, rapine, pillage, and devshirme (look it up). If we're settling old scores and talking about slavery and stolen lands, then the Muslims have a moral duty to evacuate and retreat at once from Persia, Anatolia/"Turkey", Mesopotamia (all of it), Egypt, North Africa (all of it), Pakistan and the Levant (ALL of it).

Once the Turks and the Arabs have settled their insanely huge debt to the West, then we can begin talking Black reparations. (Oh and by the way, the Arab reparations to Blacks for centuries of slavery must be roughly three to four times whatever the Western figure turns out to be.) But only on two conditions: a) half the reparations must be paid by the West African nations/tribes who illegally profited by kidnaping and selling their co-ethnics to begin with, and b) those who accept reparations must give up all their moral and civil claims to live in this Wicked, Wicked Land of Racism, and remove forthwith with their loot, back to the welcoming arms of Mother Africa.

We'll see how many takers we get on that.

Just like in real life!
This is why I don't watch anything with blacks in it.
Another thing is taking stories or movies originally done by whites and making them black. "The Wizard of OZ" and "The nutty prof" and "Dr dolittle" are supposed to be better black. While europeans were writing fairy tales for kids, afro-cans were selling each other into slavery. Don't they have any literature of their own?
But now,the "Princess and the Frog" has a black princess! Oh thats much better! I'd like to see them steal "Snow White"! What would they call it? "Coal Black and the Seven Pygmies"?

One day we will open a history book and read about how "The RedTails" single handedly won the air war in Europe. Then they hopped a flight to the pacific, and dropped the A bomb on Japan. This movie looks awful. One scene has them doing the same " Barking" thing that football players do before a game. What's next? a little rap music playing on the plane's radio.

Article was right also about blacks competing against themselves, then falling behind when compared to white counterparts. Two local High schools graduating seniors ( 1 white school 1 black ) were brought together a few years back. The faculty who arranged the meeting thought they'd be equal based on G.P.A. It turned out that the black valedictorian was on a 9th grade level, and most of the white kids had a higher G.P.A. Of course the black parents tried to blame the white school, instead of their kids teachers who retarded their progress.

To put this into perspective, Germany's top scoring ace (Erich Hartmann) had 352 confirmed kills (that's ONE MAN with 3.17 TIMES what a 1,000 man squadron did!!). There are some 84 German aces that had above a 100 kill count!... If you want to be truely impressed, read about Hans Joachen Marselle... It will inspire you!... Good for you for going to such an event in good faith. Unfortunately, you were rewarded with what blacks always "reward" whites with - arrogant hostility. If the old fart was younger, he probably would have jumped you in the parking lot as a way of saying "thank you for your interest."

I've observed over the years that blacks have an in-built animalistic anger over status issues and "respeck" along with a propensity for hair trigger violence. And no matter how nice you are to them, no matter how much you try to understand, no matter how much you respect you go out of your way to give them, they will always hate you and think you owe them more. Which is why they loot and rob like crazy and turn everyplace they go into a disgusting hell hole.

I'll never forget my first social encounter with a negro. I was a senior in high school and escorting a girl from a local school to her senior prom. While we were fortunate enough not to suffer the presence of any negros at my high school she was not so lucky.

Anyway, I got buttonholed by a negro at her prom. Anxious to demonstrate just how broad minded I was I refereed several times to "negros." Now, you'll have to remember, back in the 60's the word negro was the polite way to refer to blacks.

After several "negros" this and "negros" that he finally turned to me and said, "Blacks!" I then asked, blacks? What are you talking about?

To which he informed me that the proper way to refer to negros was "blacks." I looked at him incredulously and asked, "are you kidding?! You prefer to be called "black?" I couldn't believe my ears.

Anyway, that was my first exposure to the negro other than kind black folks who worked for us. Thing is, I was completely thrown off balance. I knew I was not guilty of prejudice or any other offense, but couldn't figure out what the heck had gone wrong.

Take home lesson: you simply cannot please the negro. Unless he experiences the white man's lash and is placed in an unequivocal subordinate role, he will be unhappy and miserable.

This is curious, is their goal to just eliminate the airforce and turn it into a personal taxi service since they can not get capable nonwhites whom they feel they can trust to pilot said aircraft? Is that corruption at work, or is there no plan at all?

I'm sure someone else has said it already, but "never lost a bomber" has the stink of a backhanded compliment, anyway. It stinks of "never saw much combat, either."

Army ROTC programs have a similar, unofficial policy already in place. I can't provide any personal information, but I will say that ROTC programs will significantly lower standards to "provide opportunities" to people of color. It's really a shame.

What's really a shame is the hidden quotas. It's a double-whammy. Not only do we have to put up with the quota, we have to pretend it doesn't exist. I have far less of a problem with quotas if everyone's perfectly up front about them, but not the double-whammy quotas like now, where you're RACISS!!! if you point out that no, a Black fighter pilot isn't really a fighter pilot, a Black officer really isn't an officer, etc.

It's not pretzel logic at all. Segregation (capital "S") enforced segregation, thus violating freedom of association. Integration forbids segregation, thus violating freedom of association. The common factor is that Americans haven't had freedom of association for roughly a century.

All this backward baboon crap started with the sitcom "Julia" back in the late 60s. All the white folk, including the doctor, were goofy, babbling, unorganized bufoons. Well, there's one way. Blacks are either at your feet or at your throat (like several other minorities I could name); at your feet isn't ideal, but it's a lot better than what we have now.

Californian said...

The Tuskegee Airmen's success (though much of it has been inflated) and growing legend is attributable entirely to segregation.

You are actually hitting on the real issue here. That the Tuskegee Airmen is a demonstration of what could be accomplished under segregation.

Whether or not their war record was as glorious as claimed by Lucas is not quite the issue. Most war movies provide an exaggerated view of the accomplishments of any military unit. What would be interesting to look at is how, far from being a group which had to overcome "racism," the Tuskagee Airmen were actually stage managed into existence from the highest echelons.

Now, there may have been any number of reasons for this, whether liberal egalitarianism or simply the military's need for recruits. And certainly there was a propaganda issue here insofar as this unit could rally blacks behind the war (and let us not forget that the British and French Empires, with which the USA was allied, had considerable populations of sub-Saharan Africans).

Anyway, interesting point and let us see this explored more.

You at SBPDL may not not endorse segregation but your articles make a powerful case for it (de facto segregation, not de jure).

"We believe in merit, which is anathema to the governing apparatus known as BRA."

You cannot have a workable society that is both meritocratic and racially integrated re blacks and whites. Such a society will inevitably devolve into a two-tiered system with blacks scarce everywhere but near the bottom. A meritocracy is hierarchical and an integrated society implies at least some degree of egalitarianism; otherwise, why bother integrating?

Regarding integration/segregation, I think you at SBPDL are like a doctor who tells a heavy smoker about all the health risks smoking entails but never advises him to quit smoking.

The fact is, they don't have to make up their minds whether blacks are tough or fragile. They say black is white and white is black and most of the rest of us just swallow it whole. It sure works for them. Why fix it when it ain't broke?

Also, in a larger sense, they have made up their minds. They've decided blacks are always the victims and whites are always the victimizers. They will twist, omit and lie about the facts to make them fit that narrative and sustain their belief system.

The ultimate irony is that the leftists are always warning about right-wing demogogues but they themselves are the biggest demogogues of all. And this tactic of depending on feelings rather than facts has worked well for them for decades. Don't expect them to change any time soon. In fact, don't expect them to change, period. We'll never be able to work with the liberals. We'll be lucky to have a chance to work around them or better still, work without them.

The fact is, this movie is a load of BS. For one thing, the ME-262 was impossible for a Mustang to catch once it was in the air and flying at it's usual 500+mph attack speed. The ME-262 "Swallow" can fly over 540mph and reach much higher altitudes than the Mustang. The only way P-51 pilots were able to stop these jets was to strafe and bomb them while they were on the ground, or attack them during take off and landing. The Luftwaffe simply started deploying FW-190 "Butcher Birds" to ambush and shoot down the Mustangs, which having a liquid cooled engine were easily downed by ground fire if hit in the cooling system or the oil cooler was breached. That was why they took over from the P-47's which were far better ground attack aircraft for bomber escort due to the fact they were much better able to survive the intense machine gun and cannon fire directed at them. Worse yet for the Mustangs, the ME-262's had four devastatingly powerful 30mm cannons, one or two shells from which can blow a Mustang's wing off or simply disintegrate it in the air. This plane was intended to be a bomber killer, and a single burst from those incredibly deadly cannons either blew B-17's out of the air or sent them plummeting to the ground ablaze. Germany's pilots were probably the finest in the world, and they were fighting on their own ground determined to defend the civilian population to the last. I doubt these pilots lived very long once they got singled out by one of these aces many times over. Ultimately, what defeated these plane and other much more advanced, faster and higher flying German fighters such as the Ho-219 flying wing fighter and the ta-183 Volksjaeger was Germany running out of trained pilots and fuel, not the Tuskegee Airman. They served to harry the Luftwaffer sure, but the real reason why the Luftwaffe was defeated was the destruction of fuel supplies, aircraft factories, airbases and Hitler himself. He failed to realize Germany needed 4-engine bombers to crush enemy industry early in the war, then as many of these jet fighters as he could have built and made operational much earlier in the war. By the time the M-262 entered combat, Germany was already doomed to defeat and utter ruin.

No, the people living in those states elected people to enact those sorts of laws. They had popular support. If you don't enforce such segregation, there's nothing to stop anyone from going anywhere they want to within the country and associating themselves within a particular community. Allowing people to exclude others from their community (as was done during segregation) is what freedom of association is if it has any meaning at all. The white southerners were protecting their right to live in an all white society. Again, the very essence of freedom of association. Unless you think freedom of association only applies in the smallest sense (at the individual level) in which case one could argue that that exists now.

"Integration forbids segregation,"

Naturally.

Coming as no surprise is this crock-O-shit negro glorification movie ad nauseum....

My late uncle was in the US Army Air Corps during WWII and after several years in the states training and instructing ultimately received his overseas assignment and flew out of England, later France. His assigned combat craft was a P-47 with most of his missions were air to ground. I know he and his squadron had several air to air assignments and subsequent encounters with his getting two shoot downs by the war's end.
He and I would see each other throughout the year as our family is close and most certainly during duck hunting season where we always were together and he would quite often have several of his former squadron members and a few others in tow or on another date whether I was there or not, inclusive of two bomber pilots who flew out of England in B-17's that I became well acquainted with also over the years. I remember all too well by the late 1980's and forward when the "Tuskegee Airmen" thing started to gain momentum how he and several other aforementioned individuals let it be known that the "Tuskegee Airmen" exploits were so embellished, so romanticized, so over-stated, hyped to the max and then some as to beggar description and they just shook their heads in disgust.

Ya, this latest negro glorification comes as no surprise and it's only going to get more out of line.

As is so often the case, Blacks win through attrition and not superior skill.

Without writing a dissertation, I'd like to proffer that the reason we don't have a lot of African-Americans "trying out their wings", i.e., going into the aviation industry, whether commercial, military, or GA, is because they're NOT EXPOSED. If our youngsters "don't know", they can't make choices based upon a broad-in-scope foundation as those who are "in the know". Therefore, our black aviators DO need to reach back ~ career days/visits at all school levels, etc.

BTW, I'm a "white person" (hate to use the color as a noun :( ), a Torchbearer for the Tuskegee Airmen, and teach at a youth flight academy whose student composition is almost all African-American. LOVE my Airmen and students and LOOKING FORWARD to seeing the movie. :)

P.S. Has anyone shared that most of the almost 1,000 pilots in the Tuskegee Experiment already had their civilian pilot licenses??? It's true ... and college educations to boot! They were MORE than qualified to serve their country.

Racism is still alive and thriving. The disdain that many of you display towards gentlemen that fought for this country is appalling. Fact or fiction (or some where in between as most movies), they served honorably in combat. African-Americans make 5% of the officers in the Air Force, so it makes since to have a smaller percentage in a specialized segment. If any of you bigots are military members, you should take a hard look at yourselves. You're also proof that screening applicants has short comings. For the bigots that haven't serve your country, many people fought and died enabling you to spew this venom.

First of all those black combat pilots would have flown any mission with any available aircraft at any point in the war and been the axis powers worst nightmares, if those bigoted trolls at the Pentagon and cilvilan enties got the hell out of their way and let them kick ass,Finally I felt lucus RedTails movie was disrespected by the studios and thearter owners, so it was their patriotic duty to not be so judgementaland bias about his movie, but he should sue them as if, he was on a strafing mission himself.

It is very interesting that well written, well spoken comments would be posted here and focus on the accomplishments or non-accomplishments of one single race--African Americans. It is fortunate that the world and reasonably evolved humans have transformed beyond this sort of classical rhetoric. Here is a message for all you like minded poetic "wanna bees". Segregate yourselves somewhere in a dark hole and allow the rest of humanity to move on. Can't you glorify the merits of your race without being hypercritical of others---I suppose not! Well, if you want to believe that white people are the greatest race on earth, then it is okay to believe that. The rest of us will just live life and ignore you. Grow up and travel the world to get enlightened! Maybe you will evolve. What is "white"? Skin color? Mindset? People in American or Europe? Remember, no African Nation has ever attacked the US. The great world wars have been "white" people fighting each other. WW1 AND WW2. Lets no get started with the civil war! The language on this site is reminiscent of a key figure in 20-century history---Hilter. There you have it, just eliminate or exterminate those you deem unfit to be in your shadow. Finally, even the gods struggle with stupidity....and you knuckleheads are what you are....so sad!

Well according to military records , they contradict your evidence. All the people on here saying racial slurs it's unneccesary. Color has nothing to with anything. Trash talking the NAACP what good does that do? We can all be tough behind a computer screen ! African Americans have suffered for long enough dealing with racist ideology that doesn't apply to everyone of us , there's ignorant people in every race trust me !
