There is no reason to gloat.
|Detroit's black population growth (the city is roughly 90 percent black in 2013) Graph is from the book Escape from Detroit: The Collapse of America's Black Metropolis|
The lesson of the collapse of 90 percent black Detroit, filing the largest municipal bankruptcy in United States history today, has already been told in the ruins of Gary, Indiana.
It has been told in the ruins of Camden and Newark, New Jersey.
Birmingham, Alabama, purportedly celebrating "50 Years Forward," has already taught us the lesson as well.
Once the black population of a city rises to a point where they can democratically elect a black mayor, the municipality is dead.
Because no one will speak for the interests of the white middle-class.
So they speak with their feet and engage in white flight.
On this day, when 90 percent black Detroit declares bankruptcy, we must recall the words of Robert E. Lee:
“I have always observed that wherever you find the negro, everything is going down around him, and wherever you find the white man, you see everything around him improving.”
