In 65% Black Memphis, "Expungement Clinics" Exist to Help Blacks Clear Their Criminal Records

Previously on SBPDL: Maybe It Was Memphis: 64 percent Black Memphis and those "Danger: Enter At Your Own Risk" Billboards...

In the future, our posterity will never, ever understand a story such as this, where people exerted energy, time and effort to help those who only sought to harm civilization. [Expungement clinic aims to restore hope in the community, WMC Action News 5 Memphis, June 1, 2018]:

For the past couple of years, volunteers have spent their Saturday helping people clear their criminal records while also helping them with their job search.
Black crime is just a fact of life in Memphis, where expungement clinics exists to help black criminals clear their records
Hundreds of people showed up Saturday at the The Healing Center Full Gospel Baptist Church looking to clean up their criminal record.
A non-conviction expungement clinic was held in partnership with the church, Mayor Jim Strickland's office, and local leaders.
In 2017, the Tennessee legislature passed several new expungement laws including reducing the fee from $450 to $180.
Many people with a Tennessee criminal record or convictions can also have multiple misdemeanors erased.
"And they are old, some are very old, and they are still being held against them. We need to find a way to break into that. Another thing is they are not able to vote and people want their voices heard," Pastor Dianne Young said.
The clinic is about restoring hope in the community.
"We deal a lot with suicide and we found out that 90 percent of people who take their lives contact a person of faith before they complete it. That means that we need to be on the front line ready to help people and point them in the right direct and even the things that we don't do, we need to know where those resources are," Young said.
Representatives from Shelby County General Sessions Clerk Ed Stanton Jr.'s  office were on hand to share other second-chance resources.
"When people can get their cases expunged, they can get jobs and pay for drivers assistance programs such as what we have here that are available," Gortria Banks said.
A volunteer at the clinic said the program gives residents another opportunity at life.
"I was here at this very clinic last year. I had a few things expunged as far as my background and my driving and I am a witness to sit here and say today that I work for a Fortune 500 company because of that. So it's very very important, even if you feel like it doesn't apply. It doesn't hurt to try," a volunteer named Jessica said.
Memphis is a 65 percent black city, where high rates of  black criminality is a fact of life everyone seeks to avoid.

Where society should be shaming criminals, we seek to exonerate them.

Since 2006, 81.3% of Homicides in California Have Had a Non-White Suspect (State is 38.4% White)

In 2000, California was 46.7 percent white and 32.4 percent Hispanic

Shot. [It's official: Latinos now outnumber whites in California, Los Angeles Times, July 8, 2015]:

The demographers agreed: At some point in 2014, Latinos would pass whites as the largest ethnic group in California.
The Color of Homicide in California: Nonwhite
Determining when exactly that milestone would occur was more of a tricky question. Counting people isn't like counting movie ticket receipts.
The official confirmation had to wait until new population figures were released by the Census Bureau this summer. The new tally, released in late June, shows that as of July 1, 2014, about 14.99 million Latinos live in California, edging out the 14.92 million whites in the state.
The shift shouldn't come as a surprise. State demographers had previously expected the change to occur sometime in 2013, but slow population growth pushed back projections. In January 2014, the state Department of Finance estimated the shift would take place at some point in March.
Whites are 38.4 percent of the state's population, yet homicides in California are 4 out of 5 times committed by a non-white
California is now the first large state and the third overall — after Hawaii and New Mexico — without a white plurality, according to state officials.
The country's Latino population is now 55.4 million. California and Los Angeles County have the largest Latino populations of any state or county in the nation, according to the new figures.
The demographic shift has been a long time coming. In 1970, the 2.4 million Latinos in California accounted for 12% of the population, while the 15.5 million whites in the state made up more than three-quarters of residents, according to state figures. By 1990, the Latino population jumped to 7.7 million, or about 25% of the state's population.
The Latino population is relatively young, with a median age of about 29, while the aging white population has a median age of 45. State demographers project Latinos will account for about 49% of Californians by 2060.
"It is going to accelerate," Suro said. "This is really the beginning of a new phase that will play out over another generation."
A young Latino workforce helps the economy by backfilling retiring baby boomers, said John Malson, the chief demographer for the state finance department.
The continued influx and growth of Latinos in the United States is not being fueled exclusively by immigration but by second- and third-generation immigrants who are settling down and starting families, said Marcelo Suárez-Orozco, a professor and dean of education at UCLA's Graduate School of Education and Information Studies.
California is a harbinger of the national rise in Latinos. The nation's Latino population has grown 57% since 2000, when Latinos numbered 35.3 million. Latinos accounted for most of the nation's growth — 56% — from 2000 to 2010, according to the Pew Research Center.
"Where L.A. goes is where the rest of the state goes and where the rest of the country goes," he said. "We announce, demographically speaking, the future for the rest of the country."
Chaser. The Homicide In California Report 2015, issued by the California Department of Justice, makes quite clear just which racial group(s) is responsible for homicide in the state:

47.5 percent of homicide arrestees were Hispanic, 26.1 percent were black, 20.8 percent were white, and 5.6 percent were categorized as “Other.”
Since 2006, official state data for California shows homicide suspects are - on average - 81.3% nonwhite.

So goes California, so goes the nation, right?

Nationwide, Blacks Engage in “Guns Down, Paint Balls Up” Battles to Try and Stop Blacks From Shooting Each Other: How Long Until a White Cop is Confronted by Paintball Gun Carrying Black Youth?

Previously on SBPDL: In 7% White Detroit, Black People Wage Paintball Wars in the Streets to Stop Blacks from Killing Each Other...

"Guns Down, Paint Balls Up" was a movement intended to convince blacks to stop shooting each other and instead engage in harmless paint ball fun.

Instead, it's only ensured a racial group with incredible poor future-time orientation and impulse control will engage in even more gun violence when confronted with seemingly harmless paintball fun. [Nationwide Paintball Wars Causing Concern For Baltimore Police, Baltimore CBS, 5-31-2018]:
Nationwide, police are tackling a new type of gun violence. Hundreds of paintball shootings have been reported in multiple states, and now it’s picking up in Baltimore.
Black people instructed to stop shooting each other with real guns, now shoot each other with paint ball guns, only infuriating blacks struck with these projectiles... how long until a white cop is confronted with a gang of paint ball gun carrying blacks?
“Guns Down, Paint Balls Up” is a movement that was intended to curb gun violence.
“It started in Atlanta, with a rapper who started putting things on YouTube and Instagram,” said Milwaukee Police Sgt. Melissa Franckowiak.
Police say Atlanta-based rapper 21 Savage’s campaign against firearms may have backfired — they’ve linked at least two deaths to paintball wars.
In April, 3-year-old T’Rhigi Diggs was shot while he slept in the back of his mother’s car in Milwaukee. Police say he was killed by a teen who fired a handgun at people shooting paintballs.
“My baby’s really strong, my baby fight for his life almost 45 minutes before the ambulance got there,” said Roshanda Craig, T’Rhigi’s mother.
Weeks later, another death, 19-year-old Zyquarius Bradley who was shot and killed in Greensboro. His body found next to a car covered with paintballs.
Baltimore police say it’s also a concern in the city.
“These guns look real, an officer pulled over a vehicle because they saw a rifle sticking out of the window of a vehicle, and they get up and find out it’s a paintball gun,” said Baltimore police spokesman T.J. Smith. “It’s something we want to get in front of, and let people know it is illegal, it is something we are taking seriously.”
People caught firing a paintball gun could face disorderly conduct or other criminal charges.
It's only a matter time until a white cop confronts a large number of black youth in Atlanta, Memphis, Detroit, Baltimore, Charlotte, or Milwaukee who are engaging in harmless paintball fun, and fire a few rounds at these white policeman.

What happens next?

Chaos.

Riots.

So keep it up!

"Guns Down, Paint Balls Up," is a movement in a direction SBPDL endorses.

But Can Blacks Hold This Job? City of Stockton To Pay Black/Brown People $1000 a Month Not to Shoot Other People

PK NOTE: 100% back tomorrow.

Jared Taylor and PK talk about it here.

But read about it here. [Stockton's young mayor has bold turnaround plan: Basic income and stipends for potential shooters, Los Angeles Times, 5-26-18]
Stockton Mayor Michael Tubbs says that for way too long, his city has been known for headlines about bankruptcy, violent crime and the housing collapse.
In the future, he wants it to be known as a place willing to test bold solutions.
If only he'd been paid $1000 per month, as the plan by city leaders in Stockton now stipulates...
Bold, and a little controversial.
Tubbs, a Stockton native and Stanford graduate who is all of 27 years old, wants to give at least $500 a month to a select group of residents. They'll be able to spend it as they wish, for 18 months, in a pilot program to test the impact of what's called guaranteed basic income.
If the very sound of that knocked you half off your chair, this next initiative might finish the job.
Stockton is about to award stipends of up to $1,000 a month to residents deemed most likely to shoot somebody. This program is called Advance Peace, and it's modeled after a crime reduction program in the Bay Area city of Richmond.
The idea is that a small number of people are responsible for a large percentage of violence, and offering them an alternative path — with counseling and case management over an 18-month period, along with a stipend if they stay the course — can be a good investment all around.
"Let me be clear, Advance Peace is not a get out of jail free card," Tubbs wrote in explaining the program on Stockton's public safety website. "Participating in this program doesn't erase the past, but it does help these young men learn how to make better choices for their own and our community's collective future."
There's a difference between a vision and a hallucination, and time will tell with Tubbs. But I like the young man's mix of rebelliousness, impatience and willingness to take risks.
Irredeemable? This word perfectly describes the United States of America in 2018.
