#811. Michael Steele - The Notorious G.O.P

Mein Obama is to be commended for his dubbing the current head of the Republican Party a most apt moniker:

Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele said he finally got to meet President Barack Obama on Saturday, at a VIP reception at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. He got his picture taken with Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama, as celebrities such as Alec Baldwin milled around.

At last year’s dinner, Obama poked fun at the slightly nerdy Steele and his sometimes awkward attempts to seem cool.

“Michael Steele is in the house tonight. Or as he would say, in the `heezy,’” Obama said last year. “Wassup,” he added, making a hip-hop-style hand gesture.

In his remarks to the crowd, Obama gave a shoutout to Steele, calling him “Notorious G.O.P.”
The Wall Street Journal describing Steele as slightly nerdy is an understatement (although we have a feeling that Mein Obama might be the last one picked in a pick-up basketball game).

Michael Steele is a token Black person, who heads the Republican Party and appears frequently on Fox News. He has no doubt attempted to Act White his entire career, while enjoying a major 'push' (in Pro Wrestling, a push is given to a wrestler by the promoter when they want to advance their career and get them higher up on the card for maximum exposure) because he is normally one of the only Black men at country club or lily-white Republican functions.

And yes, he is the Notorious G.O.P due to his race, which both helps and hinders him as he attempts to appeal to young Black people who look upon the Republican Party with the same look of dread and apprehension an inmate on death row looks upon his last meal.

Black people, who voted 96- 1 for Mein Obama in the 2008 Presidential Election, must be assiduously pursued and courted as the Republican Party mere existence relies upon transferring that racial monolith in voting to right side. Steele, the Notorious G.O.P, has a plan for doing this as he will make engage in a bold "Black Eye for the Closet Black Conservative Guy" routine known as the "hip hop makeover":

Newly elected Republican National Committee Chairman Michael S. Steele plans an “off the hook” public relations offensive to attract younger voters, especially blacks and Hispanics, by applying the party's principles to “urban-suburban hip-hop settings.”

The RNC's first black chairman will “surprise everyone” when updating the party's image using the Internet and advertisements on radio, on television and in print, he told The Washington Times.

Sadly, this Hip-Hop makeover has taken a backseat to some of the "Notorious G.O.P's" public blunders that cast serious doubt on his effectiveness as the Token Black head of the GOP:

Michael Steele's buffoonery knows no bounds, but I wonder if he's telling the truth this time or just trying to play the race card to save his job.

Republican National Committee (RNC) chairman Michael Steele, who is known for making controversial statements, on Sunday said that white Republicans are afraid of him.

Steele also took aim at some in his own party last week as well, saying that he would "come after" centrist Republicans who support healthcare reform.

The Republican chairman appeared on NewsOne's "Washington Watch" this weekend, a new Sunday political talk show aimed at a black audience. The host, Roland Martin, asked Steele how Republicans could reach out to black voters. Steele responded by talking about issues such as education, small business, jobs and the economy, The rest is in a partial transcript:

MARTIN: But your candidates got to talk to them. One of the criticisms I've always had is Republicans -- white Republicans -- have been scared of black folks.

STEELE: You're absolutely right. I mean I've been in the room and they've been scared of me. I'm like, "I'm on your side" and so I can imagine going out there and talking to someone like you, you know, [say] "I'll listen." And they're like "Well." Let me tell you. You saw in Christie and you saw in McDonnell a door open because they went in and engaged. McDonnell was very deliberate about spending...

MARTIN: Right.

STEELE: I mean, Sheila Johnson was on his team. I mean, that was a big deal. That's because he engaged her and she helped navigate him through that relationship.

Mr. Steele, the white people who elected you to the head of the RNC did so precisely because you are Black person. Regardless of your qualifications, you were placed as the head of the RNC in a misguided attempt at remaining relevant in the eyes of the increasingly diverse United States after a humiliating defeat at the hands of a multicultural alliance in 2008.

Desperate to appeal to the colored masses, the RNC selected the Notorious G.O.P hoping against all common sense and logic that the selection of a Black man would repudiate the charge of racism.

After all, how can a party be racist if they put a Black man in charge? Right? You see, the Tea Party movement is attempting to do the same, by utilizing the melanin-enhanced Lloyd Marcus to sing nonsensical songs to the goofy masses of white people amassed to protest unjust taxation from a government that have lost complete control over.

The best way to garner votes from Black people is to offer handouts, mortgages, health care and other monetary incentives for their vote. Of course, if that fails, fried chicken might be a suitable short-term strategy for votes:
Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele told a group of young Republicans that he would reach out to black voters by offering them fried chicken and potato salad.

Asked by a blogger how he would reach out to "diverse populations," Steele said: "My plan is to say 'Y'all come,' because a lot of you are already here."

After someone in the audience said, "I'll bring the collard greens," Steele added, "I got the fried chicken and potato salad."

No, there is no opposition to Black Run America (BRA) from the Republican Party who will stop at nothing from their attempts to out-maneuver minority outreach programs from the Democrats, even if it means anointing The Notorious G.O.P as the token head of the RNC. Curiously, this move hasn't resulted in Black people flocking to the Republican side:

Believe it or not, Michael Steele is having a hard time bringing minorities into the GOP fold:

Republican National Committee Chairman Michael S. Steele, under fire recently from members of his party for what they view as his shortcomings in management and communication, has also made little headway in another area: winning over minority voters to the GOP cause.

When Steele took the helm of the RNC last year, he said expanding the party beyond its traditional base was one of his main goals. But he has not been able to chip away at a current political reality: The vast majority of non-white voters are Democrats who generally approve of President Obama.

In a recent Washington Post poll, 23 percent of non-white registered voters said they had favorable views of the Republican Party, compared with 72 percent who viewed the GOP unfavorably. Those numbers were similar to polls taken in 2008, before Steele took over as RNC chairman, when 28 percent of non-white voters had favorable views of the party and 67 percent unfavorable.

African Americans' views of the GOP have barely budged since Steele's tenure began: In Post-ABC News polls following Steele's becoming the GOP's first-ever party chairman, 78 percent of blacks say they view the GOP unfavorably, again virtually unchanged from two years earlier.

Steele recently denounced "The Southern Strategy", an effort to utilize white rage against encroaching government power in the 1970 to get Republicans elected nationwide, as racist and disregarding the minority vote.

The problem is simply this: Black people have free will and they can decide for themselves which party offers the most sensible solutions to the help their lot in life. The Republicans (and the Tea Party) idea of limited government, personable responsibility and individual rights have little to no appeal to Black people.

Thus, Stuff Black People Don't Like includes Michael Steele, the Notorious G.O.P. A token Black person, who has acted white his entire life and now heads the Republican Party truly needs no further explanation.

Michael Steele has difficulty enticing blacks because he does not meet the two criteria required to gain support from black America.

He should study the success of those blacks in the public eye who have had a large support base of blacks in the past, and recognize where he went wrong.

Michael Jackson or Minister Farrakhan DID have black support, not withstanding child molestation charges in the case of the former, and the proclamation that "Hitler was a great man" in the case of the latter, because they met the two criteria which I have stipulated in previous posts, which are:

1) They were black.
2) They aroused either anger or antipathy among many whites.

Michael Steele satisfies the first criteria, but not the second. Yes he is black, but like Colin Powell (pre-Obama endorsement) he does not anger or upset whites, and therefore cannot be considered legitimately black in their eyes.

Obama, on the other hand, has struck the most perfect balance, of generating enough animosity in certain whites to attract blacks who are attracted to anything anti-white, while remaining moderate enough to entice disingenuous whites to slit the collective wrists of their people, and thank him for the privilege.

Learn from Obama, Michael. If you want to lure black people toward you, attack a white American hero or past-time. Wake up tomorrow and announce that "NASCAR" debases the soul or something like that, and the checks from the United Negro College fund and Spike Lee will probably start coming in.

Now is it any wonder blacks should not be running things? They always have to resort to the black lingo. This is why you should never use token blacks. You cannot take the blackness out of them. They can't just act normal, no, they have to act street, to seem cool and hip. And they are always scared that they are not acting black enough, so that they are always trying to prove that they are not uncle Toms.

If blacks don't have a certain "black" image then they get attacked by militant blacks for acting too "white". Because apparently if you use propper english, don't blame whitey for everything, and dress properly, then you are an uncle Tom. So, they must give a dog a bone and throw out their blackness every now and then, with such ignorance as an "off the hook" public relations blackathon.

It is tough being whitey's token medal. You have to act normal and hide your blackness, but not hide it enough to seem like you is da man. Because if you be the man, then there goes de blackness, and your brothas and sistas will disown yo black ass. Word.

I agree with CWN. I find the whole conduct of our officials acting like we are all buddies in the hood to be extremely distasteful to the position of executive leadership. Obama seldom wearing a tie, fist bumps and other activity from our leaders, it looks more like a revival meeting down at the local community center...oh wait...nah never mind.
I don't want to get bogged down in centuries of protocol so Ill jump to Steele. Everyone knows he was a AA hire, unqualified or worse incompetent especially when dealing with budget matters.
The GOP needs to stick to its core principles and not attempt to become any sort of liberal washed down rhetoric machine.

Ugh...Michael Steele! Talk about a 'sellout'!

I don't get these black people, doing their little uncle Tom dance for Whitey because he 'chose you'. Laughing my black ass off and crying at the same time. When will these fools learn?

These house negros need to worry more about their own people and not about Whitey; Whitey will eat you first over his own people on a desert island. They need bait to catch fish? Give the sharks Michael Steele's leg. Really, that may be more illustrative than 'reality', but the sentiment is there. All you have to do is watch the Real World to see it on a real tip, always throwing the black guy under the bus just because he decides he doesn't want to take those ignorant white clowns' mess anymore.

'Jerome, we don't feel safe with you in the house anymore!' says Whitey, snot conspicuously dripping down his chin for effect, his eyes red and watery. LOL!

What I don't get is how racist whites even like house negros...er...black conservatives. I thought they hated any and all things black! Well, I guess Steele isn't 'black' per say, so he won't get mad at the black jokes; he's too concerned with his by proxy privilege...Makes me think of the Brothers Tom sketch from In Living Color...

Anyway: Hirsch, don't bring up Wacko Jacko (I'm using it lovingly) if you can't get your so-called facts straight. He was weird, no doubt, but he was no child molester. Once again, statistics (how y'all LOOOOVE statistics!) show the vast majority of pedophiles/child rapists/child molesters are white men. Not black. He had vitiligo if you are confused on the racial bit.

CWN: your fake black writing still needs some work. Try a little harder next time. Please, so you can stop the embarrassment.

'use propper english' <--LOL! Was that misspelling intentional? Aww, you're so sweet...

SBPDL, you have criticized Democratic blacks in the past so I thought you would at least respect the conservative ones, because I assume that your politics lean right. So SBPDL, is there any black person you DO like? Or do you just hate blacks on principle, political affiliation notwithstanding? Because whether you want to see it or not, many Tea Partiers like Lloyd Marcus and not because he's a non-threatening public exemplar of a black man but because he voices their message in a harmless, but admittedly goofy fashion. Whether Steele is an Affirmative Action hire is up for debate, and his buffoonish behavior doesn't help him either so I can see why one might not like him much; but what about Bill Cosby, who champions hard work, personal responsibility, and education for black people? Or black conservatives like Larry Elder or Juan Williams? They've had the 'Uncle Tom' label thrown at them but in my eyes have stayed consistently on message and therefore credible. So my question to you is: do you see them as figureheads like Steele, completely lacking in integrity? Or do you respect them? Or does the whole black and Republican thing mystify you and run against the narrative that you present?

Stuff Black People Don't Like said...

AT,

I see little evidence to support the theory that Michael Steele is a conservative.

Most of the highly - touted Black Republicans (JD Watts, Colin Powell, ect.) endorsed Barry Obama for president.

If a Black person wants to make serious bank, all they need to do is claim to be conservative. White people will fawn over said person as a tool to deflect the charge of racism from the left.

Thus, the goofy nature of seeing Lloyd Marcus at the Tea Party events.

Bill Cosby is a Black nationalist (like the excellent creator of 'The Boondocks' TV show). He is a conservative only in the sense that he wants to preserve the best elements of the Black community and excise all the negative elements.

This is akin to the task of cleaning the Augean Stables, however.

I don't mind Larry Elder.

Take for instance the record number of Black Republicans running for office this year...

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/05/05/us/politics/05blacks.html?emc=eta1

What does this mean? Is The New York Times correct in the analysis they present?

I'm going to do a lot of thinking and research before I comment fully on your question AT (it is a good question).

I just wanted to acknowledge your comment AT and let you know I will think about the questions you pose in detail before answering them fully.

Desiree,

I agree with you about blacks doing their uncle Tom dance for whitey. Blacks should stick to their natural thuggish behavior and whites should stop using token blacks. This would be much better for whitey if he did not cater to blacks. Whites should stop caring about what blacks think.

Altho, considering that black on black crime is the highest crime around. You might want to rethink about who eats who, and who throws who under the bus. Blacks cannot get along with one another. But yes, if a white is smart, then he will get rid of the PC liberal guilt and hold the black person accountable. Not caring if it seems racist or not. Whites need to stop caring about seeming racist. Who cares?

Also, I am not exactly sure what an Uncle Tom is. If a black person speaks without ebonics, and acts normal, is that being an uncle Tom? I guess you have to be a militant ape to not be an uncle tom. Altho if whites do not kiss black ass then they are just racist. So whites cannot be uncle toms, just wiggers I guess. Interesting.

"CWN: your fake black writing still needs some work. Try a little harder next time. Please, so you can stop the embarrassment."

You are right, no matter how hard I try, it is a real challenge writing like a retarded porch monkey. My whiteness must just be too great. It will not allow me to act like an ignorant black.

@ Desiree LOL! You believe Michael Jackson had Vitiligo??!! Well, in that case, I'm your black brotha because I have a terrible case of the reverse Vitiligo. We all have blind spots, where we will not respond to reason. Otherwise intelligent people believe that wrestling is real or that Elvis still walks the Earth. I believe I have found your Achilles Heel, that spot where Desiree and Reality don't see eye to eye.

But I suppose if Michael says he had it, we should take him at face (pun intended) value. After all he said he only had one surgery. LOL.

I am sick of both parties using people and using racism to divide us. They care about votes. Both sides. If you think it's just one party or the other, you are sadly mistaken.
I had high hopes for Steele, but he has been a complete tool, saying whatever he thinks is "hip."
Everyone has got to become more aware of how we are being played. We could solve so many national problems if they weren't dividing us.

Hirsch:

Yes, I do believe he had vitiligo. Of course he had more surgeries than he'd like to admit (seriously, it took a lot of work to transform him from a beautiful black man [did you see him in 'Don't stop Til You Get enough'?] into a grotesque skeleton with a fake cleft and a pinpoint nose), but he DID have vitiligo.

I'm guessing you're one of those whites who think black people want that skin. LOL! Um...no; that skintone is fine for whites but black people like being brown-skinned. Not only does it protect against skin cancer, it's UVA (ultraviolet aging rays) inhibiting melanin keeps us looking young. You should see me: I'm in my twenties and I still look 15 or 16! Same goes with my mother, grandmothers, aunts, and dad. Check Michael's family! As they say, 'Black don't Crack!' In sum, Michael would've never wanted that skintone. Check his autopsy report on thesmokinggun.com; the examiner said he had vitiligo. SMH--do your damned research, dude! The vitiligo bit is a closed case! Shamone, Hirsch!

CWN:

"it is a real challenge writing like a retarded porch monkey."

LOL, obviously not, CWN. You are doing very well on that front, boo!

"Not all of us whites get a free college loan to stanford."

Listen, dummy, I already said I didn't go to Stanford; my mother did. Shit, talk about a lack of reading comprehension skills...

"Also, I am not exactly sure what an Uncle Tom is. If a black person speaks without ebonics, and acts normal, is that being an uncle Tom? I guess you have to be a militant ape to not be an uncle tom."

LOL! Okay, I speak without ebonics (seriously, many people think I'm white on the phone) and I act normal, but I'm not an uncle Tom. An uncle Tom is someone who uses things such as an education or a degree as a way to separate themselves from their people. An uncle Tom is someone who is so delusional that they would ignore racism on whitey's part just to be with him. I can't believe you don't know what an uncle Tom is. It's more nuanced than simply 'acting white', although that is a good litmus test for an uncle Tom.

"a militant ape"

See, that's just rude. As much as I love all animals, no one is an ape. A neanderthal (whitey), troglodyte (whitey), or hairy, knuckle-dragging snow beast (whitey) maybe. But ape? Why? 'Cause our skin is dark? Well, couldn't I say they same about whites propensity for body hair as being 'apeish'? Seriously, dude...that pendulum can swing both ways. Can we at least keep it in the realm of hominids?

Here's another new article on the ongoing idealization of light skin.

"Sales in skin-lightening creams are up by 17 percent from the previous year, reported marketing firm Nielsen Company late in 2009. One Indian advertising executive, who worked on a skin-whitening campaign and wished to remain anonymous, explained the growth by saying that 'being fair is seen as a passport to getting the ideal partner.' These attitudes are also reflected in India’s thriving film industry.

'In Bollywood, there is a premium on being fair. Dusky actresses . . . aren’t considered glamorous,' says filmmaker Jag Mundhra."

It's pretty hard to deny.

@ Desiree, I'm not a sleazy paparazzi or a fifteen year-old psychotic Japanese girl (or Desiree) so why should I do my research on Michael? In fact, if you'll read through my posts, you'll notice that I never said Michael molested or was convicted of molesting anyone. I said he stood accused.

But you prove my point time and again, better than I ever could. Remember the Puff Daddy song "It's All About the Benjamins Baby?" Well here is the Desiree remix. It is truly all about the melanin. If Michael did not look like you (or at least, if he hadn't start out as black) you nor any other black people would be passionately defending him. If a white entertainer, no matter how skilled, were to disfigure themselves and rack up molestation charges, I don't think Steve Harvey in his funeral parlor box-cut polyester zoot suits would be going around trying to seek justice.

I'm not saying you are any worse than any redneck who trolls the internet, wearing his cutoff flannels and making iron-on Curious Georges for his Obama shirts, but you are no better.

We all know that justice can be bought in this country. Even with exorbitant spending some had Michael's worth at death around the 200 Million Dollar Mark. With that kind of money, I could probably sexually molest everyone on this site, and by the time Derschowitz and Shapiro are done, I'll be moon-walking across the hood of a black SUV.

Okay, let's get it straight. Mike Jackson's usage of bleaching cream was for the treatment of vitiligo. The cream he used, Benoquin, is specifically sold for use in the permanent fading of dark patches when the disease has attacked over 50% of the body's skin pigment. Because of the nature of cream products, simply using it to rub on the skin would result in terrible splotches and uneven 'results'. Mike, on the other hand, was highly uniform in appearance, as well as albino-colored. That level of depigmentation CANNOT be achieved through the casual application of hydroquinone-containing lightners; it could only have been possible with a pigment disorder. (Did you ever wonder *why* the dude never ever wore short sleeves but only long sleeves? How about the heavy, heavy makeup in the 1980s? The glove? Are you that lacking in perception? He was covering his disease!)

Also, Mike's eldest son had vitiligo on his fingers, throat, and chest. This can be seen in pictures available on the web; search 'Prince Jackson vitiligo' and prepare to be schooled. Vitiligo was in the Jackson family blood and it is quite common that it is passed genetically between generations. Mike's case was particularly disfiguring, so, naturally, his son is also showing the tell-tale signs of the illness.

"It's pretty hard to deny."

What's hard to deny? In your complete lack of intellect, you assume that PoC around the world yearning for lighter skin means they know intrinsically that it is 'better'. No, no, no; wrong! Such misguidedness in India is due to the history and legacy occupation of the land by whites. Every single country of color occupied or conquered by whites has a 'skintone' issue (eg. most of SE Asia, Japan, Latin America, west Africa, USA). If these countries had never been touched by whites and ranked in accordance to how much said natives were similar to whites (ie, light skin, eyes, etc) and, thus, given 'honorary white' privilege, no PoC would even think about the darkness or lightness of their skin. They would just live. But that was not the case, was it? Now, in a world at least 90% colored, we have PoC ranking each other's worth based on foreign, arbitrary paradigms of attractiveness.

Don't you get it, Anonymous? Can you please *try* to understand that? Because it is the truth! Even with the benefits of melanin well-documented, we still have people using bleaching creams that are completely unregulated and mostly unsafe JUST TO HAVE A LIGHTER COMPLEXION, THE 'COMPLEXION FOR THE PROTECTION'! It is not something a white should smile over or feel good about; everyone, even whites, should lament over the complete and utter backwardness of the whole situation!

Desiree,

You should really give it up on mickey jackson. The guy wanted to be white. I mean come on. Did you not see his transformation for yourself? He went from a dark black guy, with a big nose, and nappy hair. To a white guy, with straight white hair, and a narrow nose. He adopted white kids. And pretended to be straight with a white woman. Wasn't he always touching and hanging with white kids? They could even identify his penis accurately.

"Listen, dummy, I already said I didn't go to Stanford; my mother did. Shit, talk about a lack of reading comprehension skills..."

Apparently you need comprehension skills yourself. Because I never wrote that you went to Stanford. Just your uncle Tom mother did. I know this. It's ok boo.

Acting white? What exactly is acting white anyway? Also, what is acting black? And what would a white person who was raised in a poor area and used his education to separate himself from his people be? Are white liberals who turn on other whites to kiss black ass uncle Toms?

You are right about neanderthals, they were completely human, red haired humans to boot. Troglodytes? Is that anything similar to living in mud huts and drinking zebra piss? And a snow beast? Sounds like big foot, they are usually dark haired.

The reason I say ape for blacks is partly because some of them look like apes. But also their behavior. Like wild ape savages. Not knowing how to act in decent , civilized society. Speaking gibberish and humping anything with a hole. Kinda like an ape. Planet of the apes.

I understand this argument, I just don't think you've proved it. You certainly haven't proved it here -- just re-stated it.

But because you also rather predictably locate the source of the "problem" in whites, one suspects that your conclusion was reached before your rationale (whatever that might be).
