With NASA's Minority University Research and Education Project (MUREP), Who Needs The Russians to Get to Space??

Ever see the movie October Sky?

The true story about four white boys from West Virginia, who take up an interest in rocketry after the Russians successfully launch Sputnik, October Sky is a modern classic. 
From an official NASA publication: progress was never about getting to the stars; real progress was about changing the makeup of who was getting us to the stars, if those stars weren't even the real final destination...

Set in a coal mining town, the main character, Homer Hickam,  is portrayed by Jake Gyllenhaal. His father is the mine superintendent. 

Easily, the most poignant scene is after Hickam's father is hospitalized following a mining injury, he must quit school (abandoning his dream of entering his rocket experiments in the science fair and earning a college scholarship) and head down to the mines. 

Taking his father's place to become the breadwinner for the family. 

As he descend down the elevator shaft and into the mine for the first time, Hickam looks up at the night sky at the billions of stars staring just as coldly back at him. 

Though his dream would be one day realized, at that moment you felt the dread he did going into the mine. 

Leaving a world full of hope and endless possibilities for a dreary, dangerous and inevitably fatal life of mining coal. 

Though we all lead mortal lives, it's the manner in which we live them that ultimately give them meaning and inspire others to greatness. 

But that was a different nation. 

This is a much different country, whose goal isn't to invest money into projects inevitably taking us to the heavens, but one dedicated to the proposition a race to the bottom is inherently noble and without contest or debate. 

You see, America was a country whose future was quite similar to Homer Hickman's as he looked at the stars and simultaneously descended into the mine shaft. 

Well, the historic majority population is getting the shaft, as we get pulled back down to earth for daring to have the audacity to reach for the stars. 

Nothing quite articulates the tragedy of the situation of quite like NASA's Wings in Orbit: Scientific and Engineering Legacies of the Space Shuttle, we get an Orwellian chapter titled Social, Cultural, and Educational Legacies. It includes a subheads such as NASA Reflects America's Changing Opportunities; NASA Impacts US Culture. On p. 461 -462, we inadvertently get a lesson in a period of time when America looked at the stars knowing they were our potential destination and today, when we head into the cold, dark mines of nothingness. 


At least we're inclusive though!:

Before the Space Shuttle was conceived, the aerospace industry, NASA employees, and university researchers worked furiously on early human spaceflight programs to achieve President John Kennedy’s goal of landing a man on the moon by the end of the 1960s. Although these programs employed thousands of personnel across the United States, White men overwhelmingly composed the aerospace field at that time, and very few women and minorities worked as engineers or scientists on this project.  
When they did work at one of NASA’s centers, women overwhelmingly served in clerical positions and minorities accepted low-paying, menial jobs. 
Few held management or professional positions, and none were in the Astronaut Corps, even though four women had applied for the 1965 astronaut class. By the end of the decade, NASA offered few positions to qualified minorities and women. Only eight Blacks at Marshall Space Flight Center in Alabama held professional-rated positions while the Manned Spacecraft Center (currently known as Johnson Space Center) in Texas had 21, and Kennedy Space Center in Florida had only five. 
Signs of change appeared on the horizon as federal legislation addressed many of the inequalities faced by women and minorities in the workplace. During the Kennedy years, the president ordered the chairman of the US Civil Service Commission to ensure the federal government offered positions not on the basis of sex but, rather, on merit. Later, he signed into law the Equal Pay Act of 1963, making it
illegal for employers to pay women lower wages than those paid to men for doing the same work. President Lyndon Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which prohibited employment discrimination (hiring, promoting, or firing) on the basis of race, sex, color, religion, or national origin.
 
Title VII of the Act established the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, which executed the law. The Equal Employment Opportunity Act of 1972 strengthened the commission and expanded its jurisdiction to local, state, and federal governments during President Richard Nixon’s administration. The law also required federal agencies to implement affirmative action programs to address issues of inequality in hiring and promotion practices. 
One year earlier, NASA appointed Ruth Bates Harris as director of Equal Employment Opportunity. In the fall of 1973, Harris proclaimed NASA’s equal employment opportunity program “a near-total failure.” Among other things, the agency’s record on recruiting and hiring women and minorities was inadequate. In October, NASA Administrator James Fletcher fired Harris and Congress held hearings to investigate the agency’s affirmative action programs. 
Legislators concluded that NASA had a pattern of discriminating against women and minorities. Eventually, a resolution was reached, with Fletcher reinstating Harris as NASA’s deputy assistant administrator for community and human relations. From 1974 through 1992, Dr. Harriett Jenkins, the new chief of affirmative action at NASA, began the process of slowly diversifying NASA’s workforce and increasing the number of female and minority candidates.

And that slow process of diversifying NASA's workforce turned one of the only function federal agencies into just another US Postal Service, a veritable job program for otherwise unemployable minorities. 

But it effectively grounded the ambitions of white men like Homer Hickam, whose aiming for the stars lacked the thrust and power of the diversity craze/initiative. 


With NASA now nothing more than a glorified US Postal Service, let's bring up its Minority University Research and Education Program (MUREP). 



MUREP is the feel-good program for those who believe one day the racial gap in achievement will be closed and we'll fly to the moon with just the endless power supplied by our mind. 

No rockets.

NASA Selects Minority University Teams for 2014 Microgravity Research Flights NASA has selected 13 undergraduate teams from minority-serving institutions across the United States to test their science experiments in microgravity conditions. The teams will travel on a Reduced Gravity Education Flight (RGEF) with NASA's Minority University Research and Education Project (MUREP) the week of July 7. 
Each team designs, flies and evaluates a reduced-gravity experiment that aims to fill technology needs and knowledge gaps previously identified by NASA. They will test their experiments aboard a specially modified aircraft able to simulate a reduced-gravity environment. The aircraft flies approximately 30 sets of rollercoaster-like climbs and dives, producing periods of near weightlessness and hypergravity ranging from 0 to 2 g's. "We are excited that our program provides a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for aspiring scientists and engineers to study and understand their craft. By participating in this innovative program, the students gain useful skills through collaborative planning and teamwork," said Frank Prochaska, RGEF program manager at NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston. 
The 2014 MUREP teams are from Austin Community College, Austin, Texas; California State Polytechnic University, Pomona; Dallas County Community College District, Dallas; Gadsden State Community College, Gadsden, Alabama; San Jose State University, San Jose, California; Texas Southern University, Houston; University of North Carolina at Pembroke and Robeson Community College, Pembroke, North Carolina; University of Houston; University of Miami, Coral Gables, Florida; University of Puerto Rico at Rio Piedras, San Juan, Puerto Rico; University of Southern California, Los Angeles; University of Texas at El Paso; and, University of Texas Pan American in Edinburg. 
MUREP is committed to the recruitment of underrepresented and underserved students in science, technology, engineering and mathematics to sustain a diverse workforce. Participation in NASA projects and research stimulates students to continue their studies at all levels of higher education and earn advanced degrees in these critical fields.
What does all of the mean? It's a reminder that as diversity became the goal of NASA, the agency lost its founding focus, evolving into just another inefficient federal agency, costly and unproductive. 

With more diversity the goal and press release congratulating the allocation of money to non-white causes as a reason to celebrate (and exist).  


As hostilities with Russia rise again, heating up a Cold War long ago thawed (talk about mixed metaphors), it's important we understand why American astronauts being banned from hitching a ride on Russian rockets is a fitting conclusion to the space race. It's right there in front of you, if you just open your eyes long enough and embrace the stinging reality of a sun, which long ago set on the American Dream...

As NASA's chief mission became just another self-congratulatory experiment in diversity hiring and minority promoting, its history of achievement prior to this new mission statement became an embarrassing reminder of the future Homer Hickman once dreamed of for this country. To those pulling the strings of power in America today, NASA's MUREP program is just as big an achievement as landing on the moon.

The concept of minority/diversity students being awarded slots on a NASA low-gravity experiment makes me wonder just what kind of experiments the students will carry out...hmmm...
How well will the Grape Kool-Aid, sugar and water mix in a low G environment?
Do You use the same ratio of baking soda to water in Low G when cooking up crack?
Will the rims spin at the same speed?
Do the ATM's in space accept the EBT card?

I'm sure some of you can think of some other diversity based experiments as well...

With AA the dream was that you could fake it until you made it.

What is great pop-psych for pick-up artists in the club scene does not translate to Big Government.

Big NASA is faking it until it fails.

By definition, every AA slot (not a job or employment as defined in proper English) is stuffed with a player who has been promoted past his level of competence.

This now has reached extreme levels of feather-bedding. Indeed, NASA self-promotional videos IN EVERY CASE showcase AA hires first with the real (White and Asian) engineers bringing up the tail end of the credits/ visuals.

The AA gals are invariably slotted in classic fembot nodes such as re-named secretarial, human resources (ie in charge of the entire AA program ) and recording secretaries.

Female brains are simply not wired for STEM occupations.

My niece is a bona fide genius -- with the scholastic track record you'd expect. She can actually punch through all of the heavy lifting in chemistry, etc. Her interests are strictly in birth and child rearing. You couldn't drag her kicking and screaming into any STEM field.

It's because STEM occupations are emotionally against everything an adult woman must do to pass on her genes.

The freakish exceptions in the history books merely highlight the rule. STEM is a losing pursuit for women, especially in a Darwinian sense.

The number of Blacks that can excel in STEM is shockingly low. Herman Cain -- a real rocket scientist (before AA) made his bones calculating trajectories for NASA and the USAF in the 60's. He's the exception that proves the rule.

STEM occupations are totally against mainstream Black culture. One has to act and "think White."

Which is a long way of saying that the Black DNA does not give rise to even the impulse to enter STEM fields. All that NASA is doing is attracting free riders -- race hustlers.

They know that they'll be coasting clear through to retirement.

This level of parasitic economics spans far more than NASA. It's enfeebling corporate America -- across the board.

It's welfare for the "grifting tenth."

In the meantime, the bottom of the Black IQ curve is left utterly without cultural leadership. Hence, Black DNA is shifting backwards towards the primitive. Un-domestication is underway.

Hence the feral nature of the 'hood.

"diversification" was considered a triumph equal to if not greater than any space journey, you are correct about that

I'm glad we're not in space anymore & probably now the rooskies won't even sell us a jump seat ride for a 100 million bux :) That leaves space
to those that deserve to be there, the Rooskies & the ChiComs. Hope there outer space targeting systems have ussa in their cross-hairs & locked on.

Our accomplishments in space exploration, discovery are ancient history. Worthy of the history books but too worthy for ussa.

So its to hell with finding the most qualified or the best man for the job. Now its find the best man and see if he has a black friend.
And we can't go to Mars because it's not safe. Was it safe to go to the moon in the 1960's? No it wasn't, but those "white" men figured out how to do it.
Give those white men the money that went to negro programs, and they would of gone, and came back from Mars already! The only way to improve America is to send the non-americans back home.

It appears that NASA has reached the equivalent of an event horizon. There is no longer any way to stop it from disappearing into the black hole of AA. They are now giving students who have been AAd though the first parts of their eventually long careers of basking in the glow of AA opportunities not available to ordinary white kids. Apparently these AA students will be given a really cool NASA style roller coaster ride and told that they have earned the honor because they are gifted and great. They will be able to conduct their own complex experiments with the potential to change mankind. These experiments will be along the lines of chanting phrases incorporating the word nigger in various ways at different points in the ride while hyperventilating just as the amazing she-boons did to win the coveted national debating championship. The old white dudes who actually placed men on the moon and robots on mars will need to attend mandatory diversity training so they can learn to understand that the roller coaster ride for AA kids is actually the most important feat ever accomplished by NASA that blazes the trail for all of America.

Regarding the legions of unemployable diversity hires running the USPS: I walk into my local PO to investigate a package that wasn't tracked any further than the automated kiosk I used to bypass the coon line. When I finally get to Macaca #1 (in fact, the only worker in sight to handle a line almost out the door), he cannot be bothered to assist me and calls for the Macaca Mgr who pretends to look up some information "in the system" then hands me a small piece of paper w/ a hotline to call. Big shock: calling the number gets me a disconnected dialtone. Just the type of attentive, thorough, satisfying customer service you can expect from an organization run by a bunch of uneducated sambos.

Sidenote: have you ever noticed that there are NO automated service kiosks in the worst PO's? I hardly think it's coincidence: the machines do a much better job than these welfare-stealing porch monkeys.

I'm a Federal Employee (hence the avatar), and reading the articles about NASA diversifying fills me with hopelessness. You see, I work in a department that is almost all negro or hispanic. Hispanic engineers that can't read or do math, and negroes who cannot read, calculate, or communicate. It is a field in which billions of dollars are spent, and the results are always substandard. The senior managers are white. Guess what they spend their 60 dollar an hour time doing everyday. You guessed it, dodging Equal Employment Opportunity lawsuits from the employees that are not happy with the leadership positions being in YT's hands. As far as I'm concerned, the negroes have made management so ineffective, the positions could go to a goldfish with no change in effectiveness. Now putting this scenario in an environment where the margin of error is small and the stakes are life and death, I can see why the US stopped putting manned rockets into orbit. The ghetto lottery is hit when a policeman is caught subduing a "teen" with anything more than a stern look, can you imagine a rocket with seven of them exploding shortly after launch? Aunts, cousins, and grammy's would be coming out of the woodwork demanding why racism from the two remaining white middle managers in the engineering department killed their baby and asking for "answers" with their hands out.

Why what's being done now, in every aspect of every job held in the US of A that is connected to federal funding, however slight, is about "control". When uncle Sammy says "hire'em" or "else", then you get what you have now. See, uncle Sammy figured out by pandering to minorities equals "votes". Votes equal power, power equals control. Our higher institutions of learning are extremely liberal, so its quite easy to manipulate young minds into believing that the BS their being fed are a really snow cones and that unicorns and flying Pegasus actually do exist.

Actually, not at all true. There have been many inventions by White females. However, in past history, women were not allowed to have patents or given much in the way of opportunity to invent things. Also, women's focus has and is, much more than men's, on raising kids, an important job that has to be done. As to minorities, I don't know.

Anyways, that is not the point. The point is that NASA or anything else, should be recruiting and hiring people based only on ability and not trying to recruit people based on race or gender. In order to succeed, you need the best for the job, plain and simple.

I've worked with women and racial minority engineers. I never worked with a racial minority engineer of either gender who I would consider to be an outstanding engineer. In fact, I never met one who was even adequate. I have worked with good engineers who were white females. Where AA and white females becomes a problem is when they are AAd into areas where their physical attributes are inadequate. They can pretty much hold their own in the brains department.

I don't worry too much about the space program. I figure in the long run there will be people on Mars. The question is of course how long is the long run?

Let's say this century. If so I think that it is quite likely that people will walk on the moon in the next few decades.

Of course they won't be white Americans. Nor will they be American blacks. Most likely they will be Chinese but there are other possibilities.

South Korea is projected to surpass the US in GDP before 2050. They will be able to afford space missions while we will not.

America is now in substantial decline. This morning as I write this there are 20,000 Central American kids about to invade. Unless something unexpected happens all these kids will be enrolled in out schools next semester. They are harder to teach (they don't speak English - many don't speak Spanish). They cost about twice as much to educate as white kids and most will never graduate with a degree in anything that will make them employable.

Food Stamps and welfare dependency have exploded under the present administration. Unless something fundamentally changes most of the Hispanics will join the blacks on welfare or make work federal employment.

In 1619 we brought in blacks to work in the fields. That kind of labor was in market demand up to about 1930. Today blacks are simply not needed in any modern economy. Yet we are importing Hispanics who are also ill equipped to be self supporting.

So America which has been burdened for about two centuries with an unneeded black population of around 13% is rapidly expanding its economic burdens by a factor of two or more.

With our legs shackled to these dependent populations we are poorly positioned to run a space race against China or any of the three big Asian economies (China, Korea, Japan).

Of course there are many unforeseeable events in the future. Japan stumbled badly two decades ago. China has serious pollution problems that may slow it down and Korea has no natural resources. America - even if we no longer have the best human resources - still have the best natural resources.

After Obama is gone America - which no longer manufactures anything - may exploit or energy resources and become an extractive economy. Abu Dhabi is a very rich nation and it too hardly manufactures anything.

But no matter how you spin it, it's very hard to imagine a happy outcome for the City of Detroit. Even if the nation as a whole turns around, Detroit sit there like a chancer.

It seems likely that the US Constitution will soon be abandoned. The Obama Administration already pays no attention to it. I think that will prove to be a bad move for black people. America is moving rapidly towards a crisis with it's minorities. The Constitution and its moral authority have long protected the lives and rights of minorities. When there is no such bulwark against popular enthusiasms things can get very ugly fast.

Since every federal remedy against black misbehavior has failed some impatient demagogue is likely to call for what amounts to genocide. Since Hispanics have unilaterally chosen to burden American taxpayers with their unwanted surplus populations some one will surely suggest harsher remedies.

If we still had a strong constitutional tradition there would be a tradition of moderation to leaven the calls for action. But it looks Like the Obama Administration has indeed developed a pre-revolutionary consciousness in the US.

I don't know how all of this will work out but it is certain that if the US is in the midst of some kind of racial conflict or Civil War, China will get to Mars first.

Years ago, I worked for a big tech company-Fortune 100-my manager was about the same age as me (34 at the time)-a big fat colored boy. Our team was "diverse" some very good whites, a few so-so whites and blacks-who were all crappy.

Anyway, there was a big meeting of mgrs. one day and a bigwig VP bet our fatboy manager that our group wouldn't deliver some milestone delivery in a certain amount of time. Fatboy took the challenge.

The whole day Fatboy was at his desk feverishly drawing something. At the end of the day, I was putting files back in the big cubicle that fatass and a few other mgrs. shared. The assistant mgr. (white-and a great guy who was a great worker) was also putting paperwork away. Fatass wasn't there, but on his desk was his masterpiece- a 2 ft x 3 ft poster he had made of white card stock. He had used magic markers to draw some gaudy, sloppy border--I shit you not the colors he used were red green and black the black nationalist colors-and the message was "We Will Accept Your Challenge"

Trouble was, he had spelled "accept" as "Except"

"We Will Except Your Challenge"

He was going to have all the team sign it the next day and have it delivered to the VP.

I pointed out the error to the
white assistant and told him he better tell Numbnuts to tear it up.

I never saw that poster again.

Slavery, as an economic proposition, was already running out of gas in 1860.

Other than picking and processing cotton there wasn't all that much that Black Americans could do -- even in 19th Century America. Their labor output scarcely covered the cost of their room and board. If this were not so, then slave owners would've branched out into other economic fields with slave labor.

The only other usage for slave labor proved to be sugar cane, with some minor utility in tobacco. (Even tobacco would be too challenging for most slaves -- it requires judgment.)

Both slavery and Jim Crow/ segregation were institutions that could not last.

The ONLY solution is never muted: Black Americans need (desperately) to go home to Africa.

1) They are biologically adapted for that continent, a Darwinian selection that's 50,000+ years old.

2) Black Americans that have returned to Africa (Liberia) always end up on top of society. There's no-one to hold them down. (or up)

3) The intrinsic wealth of Africa is of the first rank. Half of all the known gold has come from Africa. Fantastic farm land: Zimbabwe, South Africa, Kenya. Fantastic tourist meccas, low, low land costs... and it straddles the route from the North Atlantic to India and Asia.

4) HIV is de-populating vast, vast, vast tracts of Africa. This reality is sort of hidden -- in plain sight -- as the MSM does not want to mention that HIV is destroying working age Africans. The residual survivors are too old to be sexually active.

5) Hence there are no end of farms that are now abandoned. (Again, just like the Black Plague -- when half of Europe went fallow.) HIV has 'Detroited' the farm belt.

6) MAJOR gold strikes in Ghana are right in the old neck of the woods. YT can't take the heat. Blacks can. Most of the locals are too dumb to operate basic construction equipment. There are millions of Black Americans that could step right in.

7) Africa is so short on talent that Chinese are being brought in. The Chinese don't particularly like it there -- don't fit in -- and are flaming racists of the first water. This means that if any Black from America wanted their jobs -- they'd get them. (The locals have even had riots over the Chinese taking 'Black work.'

8) Africa needs the money and the fresh talent. Black Americans would lift the IQ curves of every African nation they entered. White flight from Africa continues. What's good for them is good for Blacks. No-one is complaining about the White exodus at all.

9) Blacks are likely to be safer in Africa than in Chicago. The Chicago mob wouldn't trail them to Africa.

So...

We should link American foreign aid to Africans to a full scale resettlement campaign.

1) Out right grants (reparations) only in the form of one-way resettlement funding.

2) Inmates to be incarcerated overseas (Africa) one-way resettlement funding provided for all family members.

3) End of AA... completely.

4) Section 8 tenancies wound down. (no new entrants into the program) Dependent women with children given one-way resettlement payouts to live in Africa.

On the numbers, it's cheaper to build habitation in Africa, cheaper to feed Africans in Africa, cheaper all the way around.

On the morality, this resettlement ends a multi-generational crime. We don't particularly care to live near them; they can't stand our culture -- and flat out reject it. Such multi-generation attitudes are not for changing.

MLK's dream was a fantasy -- utterly.

We must accept that big oceans make good neighbors. They're the reason Russia and America didn't nuke each other.

On present trends BRA is setting the land up for fulsome genocide. Who knows how much blood will be spilt. It's better for all concerned to just solve the matter -- for all time -- by just letting Blacks be Africans.

The continent is hardly a death camp. African weather makes Chicago look brutal. The sole and only reason Blacks are not already migrating back is because they can't finance it.

Groid janitor got uppity with me in a locker room because I walked through the bathroom area that was "closed," even though there were no signs and he was wiping the sinks. Once I got tired of hearing him, I walked through anyway. It ended with him (a contract employee) telling me (a member) not to talk to him. I told him "I'll say whatever I want, pal." He then stated I was "messed up" and left the locker room while discussing my behavior with whoever was on the other end of his phone conversation (no phones allowed in the locker rooms).

I brought it to the attention of the manager. I was told:

1. He's new.
2. A phone? He listens to music.
3. IF it was a phone, he's new, so he doesn't know the rules (signs that forbid the use of phones in the locker rooms are posted throughout the facility, but literacy is required).

While speaking to her in the lobby, he walked through the lobby while trying to stare me down. I remarked on it to her ("he's trying to stare me down as if we're on 'the court'") while I smiled back and waved.

She said she'll talk to his manager about it, since that behavior is unacceptable. I'll bet the groid will be there next time. And the time after that. And the time after that. I don't care...I stood up to the groid and reported his groidness.

Show no fear to these pieces of feces. This broken society has coddled them for far too long. I will avoid them when possible, but I won't suffer their groidness while they pseudo-function (incompetently) in their subservient roles.

OK, this is for the trolls. When you ask why people do not want to live around blacks, cases like this need to be considered. You put enough blacks together and someone does something crazy like firing a gun at a basketball game, or shooting up a Mothers' Day parade, or running amok at a Black Expo.

It's not that other races lack aberrant individuals. Look at the recent Santa Barbara shooter. But pathological behavior by non-blacks is not at the high frequencies of blacks. You get enough blacks together at a ball game, schoolyard, shopping mall, or convention the probabilities of violence increase astronomically. All it takes is one black teen not showing sufficient impulse control, and shots are fired.

Look at it this way: if you had to go to a black event where there was a 1 in 10 chance of a shooting, or a white event where there was a 1 in 1000 chance of a shooting, where would you take your family?

There's another aspect to this fiasco: costs for security, insurance, and overtime for police go through the roof when you have large numbers of blacks. It takes hundreds of extra cops and government workers just to keep the peace at the aforementioned Black Expo. There's also the social cost of white families being unable to enjoy the bright lights of the cities their ancestors built.

This is known as the Morgan Freeman Effect. This negro actor has had a good number of parts where the character was White in the book, but changed (or AA'd, if you will) by screenwriters so as to uplift a member of a minority race. Just 3 examples are his appearances in Shawshank Redemption, Moll Flanders, and Dolphin Tales (apparently they shot a sequel, DT2, so that would be yet another one...) I now watch carefully for the Morgan Freeman Effect and avoid any movie that practices this sleight-of-hand affront to members of my race.

We all must complain when necessary and demand these incidents be documented We must demand higher standards and much more accountability.I truly believe if we attack this giant problem from enough different angles,relentlessly,we can definitely improve things.We just cannot wait any longer for 'someone else' to do the heavy lifting.It is just us,we must do it.Hoping for a miracle just isn't getting it done.
